We can have a PSX emulation thread?
We can have a PSX emulation thread?
Sure, why the fuck not?
people actually use these meme filters?
It looks fine to me.
So... What have you been emulating?
I'm playing Mega Man Legends
Just Final Fantasy 8 really. Thought about doing a Crash 2 run this weekend but really wasn't feeling it.
You cannot escape the ape
Sheeeit I might put that on the list for next weekend. It's been a fucking long ass time since I played Ape Escape.
I've been playing the Rampage trilogy lately. World Tour and Universal Tour are just as good as I remember them being as a kid, but I wasn't having that great of a time with Through Time.
Universal Tour
Fuck me, I hated how you couldn't credit feed that while in World Tour you could. I might be more tolerant of it now since I probably suck less ass at it, but young me thought it was absolute bullshit to expect players to 1CC a home console port of an arcade game.
Poser and you didn't play the game
I'm tempted to play Klonoa
Also I tried to play Armored Core and the controls are shit. What can I change to make it play like a third person shooter? Don't like using triggers to look up and down
What's the best CRT filter for Duckstation?
Duckstation
Yuck
Fear Effect is coming to PC
here we go
What do you use for PSX emulation, anon?
Shill me your alternative.
What's wrong with Duckstation?
I have consistent issues running Duck/Swanstation in Retroarch and can't dial in specific settings I want with alternatives, so Duckstation stand-alone it is.
ePSXe
Yeah, it was definitely easier for me as an adult.
Parasite Eve Ripoffs are coming into full swing, now that Resident Evil ripoffs are somewhat exhausted.
Neat
Isn't that the one known for being a "plugin hell" or am I thinking of something else?
But what I really want is a TRAG ripoff.
where N1RV-ANNA
Where to get ROMs?
In general, I am a big fan of the trend of PS1 style-stealing.
I got a kick out of this parody of Tokyo Cyberpunk by changing the setting to Sydney-3 and making the evil robots have Australian Accents.
Play Tomba! 2 (better than Tomba! 1)
no psx emulation for me today it seems..
I'll just play PS2 instead i guess...
idk
Coolroms
it's not 2010
pic related is secretly one of the best platformers
Just started SMT1
And died to a goblin
they can be neat sometimes

Klonoa is fun, but its pretty easy. I eventually got used to the trigger camera controls for other games, but it took a while.
The "mainline" Toy Story games are all decent, with this being the best one
Shame 4 didn't get a console game but it's probably for the best
On a somewhat related note, the 102 Dalmatians game was also cool
Yuck
It works better than any other PS1 emulator I've tried.
you can't just post a long list like this and expect us to click on them unless you at least try to give us a short description
Just finished pic related. Contrarians kept telling me that blind PS1 nostalgia was dumb and these games played like trash. Silent Hill proved that wrong the moment I started playing. The controls are smoother than SH2.
I have no idea who would've ever told you that. SH1 is the best one.
Okay then.
Tamara is a dark elf dungeon Crawler Roguelike.
Phase Zero is a Resident Evil knock-off.
Festered is also survival horror, but the monster in the game is unclear. You would enjoy this game if you enjoyed the segment of the Jurassic Park novel where they fail to realize the generator was running on auxiliary power the whole time. I don't know if this means the facility contains dinosaurs.
Carnival Massacre is survival horror, but at a carnival.
Toy Escape is a Toy Soldiers knock off. Platformer.
Greek Tragedy does something exceptional that will likely cause it to lose a large amount of it's playerbase, but only the impatient players. The patient gamers are rewarded immensely but I cannot say any more to avoid spoiling it. I considered it a very bold move, considering how easily people will write off games these days.
Liminal Point is survival horror and the swell of the protagonist's breasts is appealing.
Darkbound is like Silent Hill.
Fear FA is a take-off of FIFA. I think they should have used the title Satanic Soccer. no one listens to me
Ground Zero is a parasite eve style survival horror.
Covert Critter is a Metal Gear solid parody, with animals.
Rewind and Reclaim ummm that one let's you play against 90's horror icons such as The Fisherman, the Blob and stuff like that.
Vultures Scavengers of Death is Resident Evil 2 with an XCOM battle system
Dead Heat is an intriguing one because it features voodoo style zombies in a cyberpunk world. Before Night of the Living Dead came out, zombies were intelligent beings controlled by voodoo masters. In that game you can choose between being a human or zombie detective in a post-zombie war dystopia.
Bio fault is survival horror, has a guy that looks like Dr. Wily.
Ruffy and the Riverside is a platformer like banjoo kazooie
House of Necrosis is inspired by Koudelka. Though the dev might not even know that.
Spy Drops is a metal gear solid parody, with women.
did you set your emulation settings correctly?
That's better, thank you.
Flesh Made Fear, Loggerhead, are RE1 ripoffs.
Acre Crisis is a Dino Crisis ripoff.
I will now go into extreme detail about Acre Crisis without any prompting.
It's a Brazilian survival horror game you've never heard of because you all live in an echo chamber.
The game starts off by telling you the codename for your special mission is "Operation Jaguar" but later on, all the characters refer to their operation they are on as "Operation Ocelot" and it's hard to tell if it's a translation error, the developer just forgot, or a reference to the fact that a member of your team is a probably a traitor with their own secret mission.
I noticed early on that after an expository radio transmission, you always got ambushed by velociraptors, but although I could not use my weapon during radio calls, I was allowed to move around. I just sprinted to the next objective before the radio call finished and was able to avoid the scripted ambush altogether. This later fucked me over considerably, because I tried the same trick and it totally backfired on me because I ended up getting attacked by dinosaurs while I could not use my weapon because the radio was telling me something.
The dinosaurs are powerful, can stunlock you, and are numerous. It is best to avoid fights at all cost and just dodge, but I don't think they de-spawn so your sprints through the jungle usually end up with a whole horde of raptors chasing you down while you try to solve a door puzzle in the five seconds or so you have before they reach you. Also, the sound design is excellent. The amazon forest is full of noises from animals, even when you aren't being attacked, just like a real vibrant forest full of life. Also pretty sure the dinosaurs hear it everytime you use your gun and home in on you.
There are ways to get weapon upgrades but the game glitched out, and my money counter went to zero so I had to defeat the Pteradons the hard way. It took all my ammunition and health. The developer included trick save rooms that had raptor ambushes too.
There's no walkthroughs because of the low amount of players. No map, either. I sort of suspect the game might be easily speedrunnable because you could probably just sprint to the final facility from the start of the game. But all navigation is by compass, so trying to deduce where the final facility is from the start of the game is too much effort for me. The jungle is vast and you get killed pretty easily.
I got a real kick out of the part of the game where I found the Guerilla HQ and the leader had a pizza on his desk, as though you can just get fresh pizzas delivered to your secret HQ in the Amazon forest, where there are no roads connecting you to civilization, and the whole area is under siege by dinosaurs.
There's plenty of alternative costumes and weapons to unlock, including the Lightsaber. Brazilians can rip off whatever they want. It's not like Capcom can claim to own "blue shirts".
