Why are you getting so worked up about this? If you render the game at a higher res you will see more of its flaws. Nothing complicated there. Emulation for a long time has convinced people PS1 has obscenely unstable 3D when this was never the reality on real hardware.
Parasite Eve 2 is a game full of things you didn't think the PS1 could handle back in the day. Like heat haze, almost PS2 tier character models or faux-dynamic camera angles.

Real hardware uses vertex snapping to the closest pixel, it's not that obvious in 240p
