Kirby differences

It's time to set things straight

Dubbed anime Dedede is still the best.

That's what we do best at NMNMNMDDDMD

Dedede is basically Vegeta

I didn't even know Kumazaki directed Forgotton Land but it makes 100% now the way Dedede is characterized in that game

100% sense*

I actually really like basically everything about modern Kirby. I think it's a well managed series that they just keep adding to in good ways. The only real miss that's an actual big entry from the past fifteen or twenty years (Really, really long time) is Star Allies
Kirby is a weird one to discuss because everyone just knows that when a new game gets announced, it's gonna be great

Sakurai Kirby is kinda strong

the same Kirby that punched clear through Pop Star in a single strike

You saying that ain't strong?

kinda

Yeah but Kumazaki Kirby can hit a planet-sized meteor thousands of light years away while destroying anything in its way.
With a baseball bat.

And in my opinion it's still a pretty solid entry, the only issue was that we needed to wait for all of the DLC to be available so it could finally become a complete game, but when I played it I really liked it. I'd also consider it good for the sole virtue of having by far the hardest Arena mode in the entire series, Void is ungodly hard unless you fully learn its entire erratic moveset or bring double chefs.

is this true? one of the reasons i stayed away was because everybody said it was incredibly easy, even for a kirby game.

DDD has been played up as a hapless victim in a lot of games, even before Kumazaki.

They updated the game throughout 2018, and they gave arena a new difficulty with the parallel versions of bosses and a new void at the end of it all. The launch arena was super-duper piss easy, but the new one is moderate. Still easy to cheese with three mage sister trios if you want, but if you do it solo, I'd say it's the hardest one.
RTDL DX got the longest one, tied with Planet Robobot's but it feels a bit longer than it. They gave Magalor's Soul a new moveset in that arena that isn't the same as Extra mode's Magalor Soul.

My ideal Kirby. I like him to be "pretty tough", but I dislike planet destroyer tier Kirby.

I 100% the game completely blind and I didn't really read any discussion about the game once it was released. The main campaign is indeed really easy and even short, as there are only four worlds with the last one being the longest, but not by much. Then you have the extra mode where you use any Star Ally to beat a shortened version of the game and the postgame story, but they're both still pretty easy.

Then there's Ultimate Choice which is the game's arena, and I recall I had to beat it three times, first in the first highest difficulty which was I believe Lv7, then in Soul Melter, which are both still relatively manageable. And when you beat that, then you unlock Soul Melter EX which is the true highest difficulty, with the strongest versions of all the bosses, an even stronger Morpho Knight who will kick you shit if you're not careful and finally the entire Void Termina fight which ends on the true form of the final boss, and it will tear you a new one almost guaranteed if you go in blind. I would say that it's a good purchase nowadays, personally I enjoyed the game a lot and it also has a stellar soundtrack.

I just started RTDL on the switch and I'm finding it bland, only on W2 however. Does it pick up or stay pretty much the same the world way?

t. played DL1, Adventure, Super Star Saga Deluxe, Forgotten Land, skipped on DL2/3 after trying as I didn't like the animal friends mechanic.

Return to Dreamland set the basis for modern Kirby, so you might find it a bit too simple but it's still a pretty good game, there's also the fact that it was designed as a co-op game. It does get harder on the latter levels, so just keep at it, and Switch has the exclusive Magolor post-game story. I would say that if you want the best Kirby game in that style, then play Planet Robobot, by far one of the best Kirby games in the series.

I haven't played every kirby game, but wasn't DDD only truly the villain in the very first game?

Correct, in Adventure he was already protecting Dream Land by keeping Nightmare locked inside the Fountain of Dreams, but he fought Kirby because he misunderstood that Dedede was using the fountain as his personal pool. Any future villainous appearance after that was him being controller by the true villain for boss battle purposes, such as by Dark Matter or Sectonia, and by Forbidden Land it's already established that he and Kirby are eternal rivals and good friends.

jobber similar to MC, that keeps losing crucial fights

that's Metaknight.

Wait what? I always thought Dedede was like the main villain of the kirby franchise.

Dubbed anime Dedede

Ew
He also was the villian in Spring Breeze in Kirby Super Star... which is a remake of Kirby's first game

Dedede has been an active Kirby ally as early as Crystal Shards.

is metaknight the same thing as kirby? could he use copy abilities too?

Probably not, many autists speculate Kirby is born from Dark Matter and that could fly with MK given he has demon wings and can teleport into the shadows.

Maybe? Meta Knight is just dedicated to the sword.

SA's True Arena (Soul Melter EX) is by far the most difficult arena in the series. You need to read tells and find space to run to because the stages are claustrophobic.
The trek through every boss > Morpho and the 3 Mage Sisters (which will make the framerate drop) > Void Termina > Void will drain you because the last 2 (4) enemies are long marathon battles.
Fecto etc is a joke in comparison to Void's sudden danmaku onslaught within the first several seconds of the final final before all of the lasers start coming in as the fight goes on.

spam downthrow to get the stomping animation as much as possible

Superstars was fantastic with it's movelist. I even like how Fighter allows for grappling too, and Smash in Amazing Mirror, and Ninja's moves.

I FUCKING HATE WHEN IT'S JUST SUCK AND THROW IN (I wanna say, Nightmare?)

Meta Knight, Galacta Knight, and Morpho Knight are probably all the same species. Kirby is probably the same thing, but it's hinted he's a different evolutionary path than Dark Matter fueled by friendship, so your guess on if the former three match that description is up to you. At least Meta and Galactica both seem to be fightholics, and Morpho is oddly obsessed with Kirby.

Do you think Meta Knight can also use copy abilities but just mains Sword

He's clearly the same thing as Kirby

Morpho is oddly obsessed with Kirby

That's just Kumazaki going for more of his based Eldritch lorefaggotry for the series. Having Morpho keep popping up to get his face bashed in will detract from his threatening aura though.

Sakurai's Kirby doesn't talk

I think that was an invention of the anime.

Meta Knight acts sort of like a strict and extremist mentor for Kirby in the earlier games, while helping him out in later ones and often relying on Kirby to free him from evil's grasp. But I do believe the original vision was to have him be like a mature Kirby, yes. Otherwise the face reveal wouldn't have that much impact. But although it's not canon to the games (despite having a large impact on future entries), the anime gives Kirby a different origin than Meta Knight. But Meta Knight does know basically everything there is to know about Kirby, since Meta Knight is a star warrior and keeps tabs on Nightmare Enterprises.

Self-made king

I'm planning to replay Forgotten Land when the dlc comes out and I am very much looking forward to that scene again.

No for Kirby it's the eldritch eyeballs.
Wonder when Mario, Sonic and Zelda will begin to break their molds too.

Zelda does in the main entries every now and then.

Watch out, Burning Leo coming through

Sonic

Sonic has done it several times, it's just that 90% of the time it falls flat.

I don't really think any of those differences significantly matter. As long as Kirby acts like Kirby, and the adventure is interesting. Than I'm sure I am in for a good time.

Link's Awakening does, but depending on how you read it, the entire game is a dream

King Dedede, why did you bring me to a gay steel mill

Zelda 2 (except in game over), Link's Awakening, Majora's Mask, Four Swords, Four Swords Adventure, Minish Cap, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Tracks did it.
Skyward Sword kinda does too with Demise + Ghirahim, the former of which would go on into reincarnating as Ganondorf. And Yuga in ALBW merges with Ganon and then there's Hilda for a bit there as well.
