Yes, a big part of it is luck. Obese alcoholics can live until they're 85 and die in a car accident. Marathon runners can get cancer in their 40s or 50s. However, if you plan on getting cancer then, I dunno, you might as well shoot yourself. You should definitely try to give yourself a better chance at living longer by doing easy things like staying active (even just walking every day) and being a healthy weight. That also includes being mentally active too. Playing video games is unironically good for the elderly. Stimulation where you actually have to think, react, and make decisions rather than just sit in your home (or assisted living facility) and wait to die extends your lifespan. There have been plenty of studies on the subject that active people, on average, live longer and seem to be happier for longer too.
