Yes but Sony never uses old uarchs. PS4 was a few months disconnected from bleeding edge GCN at the time. PS4 Pro was also within months of Polaris. PS5 launched simultaneously with desktop RDNA2. PS5 Pro launched months before desktop RDNA4 (but didn't include its entire featureset).
It can't have GDDR7 at this point because it's nvidia only due to collab with SK Hynix. Unless Samsung got around to making it but I didn't check yet.
If Sony will be cutting costs it'll be with smaller dies, not ourdated uarchs. It's been their modus operandi for over a decade.

I honestly cannot think of a reason to get a PS6. It'll be the equivalent of a high-end GPU. Most people will just buy a PS5, if they don't already have one, because it'll be the cheaper option and will still get most games. The PS5 has a hand full of currrent-gen exclusives 4.5 years into its life.
If the PS6 releases in 2027, you could ride out a PS5 through 2030 and still get 95% of games that will end up on the PS6.

Zen5 clocks too well even at low power for PS6 to have boost clocks below 4GHz. PS5 CPU clocks low but Zen2 is a garbage architecture where even desktop chips barely touch 5GHz at 1.5V in extremely light tasks, when manually tuned. Out of the factory they boost to 4.7GHz.
Meanwhile Zen5 comfortably clocks at 4.4GHz at just 1.0V with factory settings.

My point is that Sony likes new tech and prefers to scale down which is the opposite of Nintendo. Switch 2 has a 214mm^2 die which is bigger than Series S at 197mm^2 but Nintendo is using an architecture from 5 years ago instead of bleeding edge like Sony and MS (at the time of release).

Recent Playstation consoles are literally AMD64+RDNA SoC hardware (similar to Valve's Steam Deck gaming PC's hardware) running a custom locked down BSD UNIX from Sony (most similar to MacOS/iOS).
Back when the PS4 was new there weren't really any PCs getting built that way, and you couldn't get a PC without the poor gaming performance of Microsoft Windows, but now lower cost AMD GNU/Linux gaming PCs are starting to become more common.
The only really non-standard thing with the Playstations is the boot process, but that's been figured out and they can be unlocked to run a GNU/Linux based OS.
What's maintained the status quo for so long is Windows is so bad at gaming, and the consoles OSes are locked down to prevent them from being used for anything else.

For gaming you care about latency and bandwidth. I'm running 6400C28 memory on my 9800X3D which makes a massive difference in CPU bound scenarios. You can't clock 64GB as high because you need dual rank for that capacity. Or if you're extra retarded and use 4 sticks you're so slow you're basically conslos pleb level.
