The difference at least with other games (like gacha games) is they actually goon over actual NPC major characters in those games who are part of the story of those games. Meanwhile, in FFXIV, literally NOBODY goons over the main cast. Nobody gives a fuck about any of the Scions or any other main cast member besides the rare weirdo like Futa Browncat guy who comissions over half of all Y'shtola fanart just via paying for so much porn of his shitskin futa OC fucking her.
There's 28k illustrations of FFXIV on Danbooru and only 3k of that is NPC characters, the rest are people's ugly OC's. Literally 90% of all FFXIV fanart is just OC donut steels. The same issue applies to FFXIV threads, where virtually everyone is just gooning to eachother's ugly OC WOL's. It's been pretty apparent for a while now that xiv threads are just a tiny handful of posters samefagging hardcore. Probably the REAL reason they get pruned, not just because of that but because the mods can see all IPs themselves and can see not only how many IPs these threads generally have, but which IPs are responsible for which posts, and can see that not only are these threads just a tiny handful of IPs but said IPs are responsible for the low-quality posts, schizoposts, avatarfagging, ERPing and pornposting.
And so as a result, the mods realize that if they banned the avatarfags/ERPers/pornposters/schizos there were be literally NOBODY left, so they realize there is absolutely nothing of value in these threads whatsoever and they'll always be garbage and so just nuke them on sight, and when people complain to IRC they rightfully tell them to fuck off to /xivg/ because they know that that's where 90% of the posters in these threads actually come from.

I kinda feel sad for XIV players. I used to be one of you, got out after Shadowbringers, I played it due to the Nier alliance raids, I had it before, especially in Stormblood but that raid made me comeback. The game was decent, even for an antisocial like myself it was fun playing with others. I never did the hardcore stuff though.
I got out and in the first weeks after I left I did feel FOMO but I managed to survive it and just started playing other things. I heard the last 2 expansions sucked ass, I can only imagine how some people will feel when the game has to be inevitably put down, all those memories. I should have taken more screenshots, but I switched PCs and never bothered to transfer them. I am a pretty nostalgic guy so maybe it was for the better. Honestly MMORPGs are kind of a waste of time, the best thing about it are the experiences you get playing, not the message, theme, story. The story was pretty bad, I much prefer other FFs.

Dawntrail is the worst the franchise has ever been in terms of story even going back to the barebones stories of the NES games. What sucks is the 8-man raid series has a way better story and cast than Dawntrail. There's also the lack of risk-taking. Most, including myself expected Dawntrail to let loose with certain aspects of the game. Take risks with Jobs and all that. Throw in a bunch of experimental content, idk. This shit is stale and DT was supposed to be a new start and they're insisting they want to stick to the formula. I was fine with them playing it safe exactly until EW, but now's the time to do weird shit and I don't mean kill off the fucking gods, holy fuck that was stupid.

When it comes to the OCs you do have people making attractive, streamlined characters but they are overshadowed by the volume of people who, as we see in any game with customization, have no sense of color coordination or fashionability or whatever. They just make hideous abominations. The worst thing is when you watch it happen in real time where a friend will flanderize for lack of a better word a certain feature until it becomes bigger and bigger and bigger.
This is how you get tits as big as a lalafell's body, guys with bodies like baki characters, sparkledog color schemes so bright they are used to guide airplanes at night. Then you have modern day appliances (you see in the few enterable apartment rooms people there's modern ass stoves, pans, and fucking ketchup and mustard bottles). You have fucking soda cans, tvs, everything. You have elevators, you have a night club, those catgirl sisters from the Arcadion story have a literal gym and a desktop PC with a keyboard and mouse (you can also find laptops in some places).
It hardly even looks like a futuristic (let alone fantastical) take on anything, most of it just looks modern in the most banal way. The elevators look modern, the night club looks modern, the gym looks modern, the clothes look modern, the appliances look modern. It's fucking boring and unimaginative. You get the sense they were trying to go for a cyberpunk theme, but a big part of cyberpunk, as a genre, is being a capitalistic dystopia, which Solution 9 is the polar opposite of. It's a perfect, crime-free society where everyone is housed and fed and nobody has any problems. It's like nobody at CBU3 even understands what cyberpunk actually is.

I took a 7 month break, and i find myself enjoying chatting and playing with my recently met FC. They don't mind the fat stuff either, even roll with it.
