This is what ruins Kenshi for me. Like everything is in place...then he forgets to add gameplay to the game. Where are the fucking martial arts schools? The hidden masters to learn techniques from? The ability to run your own dojo and develop styles and so on. There's just so much neat shit that could have been done.

UE5 might be a blessing and a curse, its easily moddable and configured meaning mods will go farther and we might actually get overhauls this time where we can get this gameplay into any other world setting, but on the other hand, UE5 is infamously shit for performance, meaning they might actually have to compromise on some stuff just to get it to run ok.

last playthrough I sided with HN and decided to take every enemy they have, use only the technology they use, and only humans
major factions are constantly coming to by home, so I have to start recruiting and training lots of people as well as outfitting them, some peoples jobs is literally just to haul things to boxes for convenience as there is now over 120 people in my faction, and since they are low tech it means large farms that have to make simple food
the constant war meant having to lose limbs, got sick of having to relegate people to uselessness, so I equip the limbless with mechanical limbs and outcast them to a post in the foglands where they are to remain
they end up being my strongest fighters due to constant fights there, I apply autism and even give them their own uniforms which are just black HN armour instead of white
start building my own army to fight UC, which involves making a supply train along a route into the desert with camps to stop at and places for the injured to heal
havent even begun to approach the shek and other factions, but they still send raids to my base, and since Im sided with HN, they send small armies to my base to help defend it
The fun is diagetic, the most straightforward way to have fun is to pick a faction and play as them, which means taking on their enemies even if it means losing a fight.

NTA but for me, it's a sense of adventure, progress and overcoming that I love. The world is beautiful. Don't get me wrong, Kenshi has a LOT of problems. Mods fix some but certainly all. That said, it's greater than the sum of its parts and is a pretty magical time if it clicks

Narrative is becoming easier and easier as the years go by. The most difficult part was over with years ago – that’s the foundations; world building, fleshing, map, general plans for content, working structure. That part is super hard and horrible, makes me want to vomit. The last couple of years have been refining, refining, refining. Content’s been flowing easy now. This is the most fun part of narrative design where the game starts to make itself and everything comes together. We’ve also had a few new features added for us over the years which means our toolkit lends us all the more creativity to push boundaries with.
