Unironically what killed them as developer?
Overwatch?
They have not made a good game since Starcraft 2.
Unironically what killed them as developer?
Activision
Blizzard north
The breast milk theft
Combination of Activision and becoming too big
Same thing is happening with Capcom and Square
Women.
The release of the Brutosaur mount for $500 worth of tokens.
There was a massive fracture caused on their flagship with Cataclysm. Was that released around 2012 when the world ended? It was all downhill from there with corruption setting in faster than a Chris Metzen character arc.
they overreached with overwatch and heroes of the storm esports, when they had to start making money again to afford their gigantic overhead they focused too much on gacha and milking nostalgia wow subscriptions instead of making quality games
still running the most popular MMO on the planet
still running the most popular team-based hero shooter on the planet (Rivals is dead)
still running the most popular digital card game on the planet
Blizzard bad because they just are okay?
remember when they dropped 10 years of marketing budget into a movie that no one fucking liked? that shit was cash
the success of diablo 3 showed them they could shoe horn any toxic mtx they wanted and they were still rewarded for it
Hubris
Did they pay money to get into that movie? If so, how much?
Having trannies and women as employees
Mass hiring and being located in California.
did I stutter?
Everyone will say the women and troons, but it was the upper management's fault for even causing the lost of real talent and hiring sideshow freaks who hate the source material
The Activision merger retardo, it could not be more clear where the drop on quality and standards is.
Profusely, yes.
Unironically what killed them as developer?
Company culture cannot survive fast growth, and it's pretty difficult to keep it as people leave, especially skilled people with the right mentality. When that whole fiasco with the rape and milk and whatever came out, i knew the whole company was done because parasites were in charge. No fucking way some nerds are that handsy with women.
fippy bippy
trust me guys, the activision purchase won't change anyth-
immediate fucking downfall
they did it themselves
their motto since d2 was
fun spotted fun removed/ruined
crapcum was a fluke between sf2 and 2005, everything else is shit
I don't like how in every blizzard game everyone speaks oddly slow and over enunciates the final word at the end of the sentence
Vivendi buyout and subsequent Activision "merger"
Most blizzard fans don't realize this because they weren't fans until after it happened
starcraft 2
good game
kek
korea is the only reason sc was popular and they rejected sc2. now the game isn't even on life support anymore, it's just a bunch of retards chilling by the grave site in the fetal position chanting "it's not dead! its not dead!".
oh also the story was fucking TERRIBLE
diablo 3, isn't that obvious enough?
The elements of blizzard that could be written into a manual and passed down to the next devs have continued on: things like extreme polish and waiting for the game to be very playable before release.
But the more intangible elements of blizzard left with their key people over the years and with the realities of scale. Samwise's art direction being a big one. Reading about life at blizzard in the early 2000s was pretty awesome, just a bunch of nerds with extreme passion giving it their all.
Another interesting thing about Blizzard is that they were acquired by a goofy ass husband and wife couple who shipped education software and blizzard was given a budget and total creative freedom by them to make games, so they had capital but didn't have the micromanaging disaster that other big publisher / studio combos had and continue to have. They basically had a shrewd businessman who saw their creativity and said, just do your thing! That sort of capital relationship doesn't exist today.
the players killed them.
when SC2 wings of liberty made a fraction of what an ingame mount bought on the store in wow made they pivoted to trying to milk as much money out of their players.
wod adds character boost and wow token. also an app to log in and check in on your garrison.
eventually overwatch comes out
people spend way to much on lootboxs making them 7x the amount.
people just kept giving them money and in turn they kept milking it out of them, I'm sure some of the devs hated it but combine that with politics and events around the time there isn't really much you can do.
Lmao I forgot there was a warcraft movie
i fucking watched it too
DEI hires
when they started hiring the blue haired women it was the beginning of the end
the same time all the other californian tech giants started falling apart
>still running the most popular team-based hero shooter on the planet (Rivals is dead)
?????
What do you mean by that? I don't play blizzard games
probably warcraft 3 because it led to world of warcraft.
The united states of america killed blizzard and many more companies, art recflets upon reality and the usa real life was a shitshow filled with gays and trans and a lot of lies and misinformation
Also overwatch although it was a success and very popular it fucking sucks if you analize it deeply, its shit made by professionals, its made very good but its still shit
Also activision
But that's the point. All those games are 10+ years old. Blizz cannot create anything new, they are can only mantain old shit.
okay now pull up the blizznet number xiang...
Getting captured by PR gremlins (like the rest of the industry), then catering and cultivating a playerbase composed of "people" who check these boxes:
only plays games to fit into some cheap make-believe tribe and family substitute; treats the game like a job, whinges about "wasting time" and "efficacy" in something he chose to engage in
only plays "popular" games and forces himself to like them, doesn't understand that he becomes a cog in the astroturfing apparatus
all his criticism of soulful niche games always boils down to "[game] is not like [popular game]"; destroys the niche and bullies developers -- acts like and becomes a sub-human locaust
all his criticsm of soulless popular games always boils down to the latest corpo-crowdsourced superficial controversy; ignores all else (assetflipping, predatory and deceptive marketing, cancerous MTX, ...) and doles out unconditional praise otherwise -- acts like and becomes a sub-human dungbeetle
dumps a fortune into modern turbo-slop, is oblivious about himself incentivizing corporate to churn out more turbo-slop; replaces his hobby with mindless consumption, wonders why he's burned out and broke
(...)
Which in turn legitimize and enable nepotists by demanding and feeding on the unadultered shit they cobble together.
You're full on cope anon.
Blizzard doesn't rum the most popular digital card game either, it runs the most popular "digital-only" card game, a very specific subgenre.
SC2 Wings of Liberty was and is the best starcraft game ever made story is good, gameplay is good, pvp is good, just missed the custom maps, just the first one tho, 2nd and 3rd expansions really destroyed the whole franchise
and no korea didnt rejecw8yted WoL
three things
1. e-sports kool-aid
starcraft was an e-sport
hearthstone was an e-sport
overwatch was an e-sport
overwatch 2 was an e-sport
heroes of the storm was an e-sport
warcraft reforged was an e-sport
Diablo 4 was an e-sport
retail arena is an e-sport
retail raiding is an e-sport
2. the cosby suite got all the remaining talent canned
3. blizzard went all in on LGBTQ and even doubled down when trump took office while all the other companies dropped LGBTQ
At least they're sort of holding on to what they recognize is quality and maintaining it.
I couldn't believe how sloppy the re-release of Warcraft 3 was. Borderline tragic.
Old Blizzard is gone, all Nu-Blizz can do is attempt to monetize that legacy.
Unironically what killed them as developer?
activision? bobby? greed? lack of passion? the woke frenzy?
take your pick
The overwhelming desire to pander to liberals and drooling retards instead of what they wanted.
Any other answer is incorrect.
almost every change done in wow after adding something is pretty much
add skill, skill is fun
that skill is fun, so we are butchering it
