Xbox handheld

Yabba dabba doo!!

what's the point? just get a steamdeck if you want to play the same games

Nintendo on ARM

Microsoft on ARM

OH SHIT!!! It's Qualcomm, the Chinese guy that leaked the PS6's specs said so. This is the 2027 handheld.

The end of home consoles are near. Microsoft's handheld is going to be the same price as the Nintendo Switch 2, Sony fucked up picking AMD over Qualcomm. Zen 6 UDNA PS handheld will cost around $700.

So, I wonder, will this handheld be akin to the Steam Deck meaning a standalone or more akin to the Switch, a hybrid?

Confirmed by who?

Qualcomm job description

who's still pretending xbox consoles sell?

What sales is affordability, would you really spend $700 for a PS handheld that has no parity with the PS6 that can barely play games over an ARM based Windows powered Xbox handheld that can play every next gen game natively for just $450? Would you buy a $1000 PS6 over this affordable Xbox handheld?

Sources have told Windows Central's Jez Corden that next-generation Xbox hardware will not use ARM chips due to compatibility concerns--it's believed that ARM chips currently do not have the power to ensure full compatibility with Xbox's cross-generational lineup of games.

3DS-sized

folding screen

199 US dollars

Xbox will win

This makes sense, they're already switching development environments to Windows, switching to ARM would just add to compatibility problems and not being able to play most games.

Yes I'm a snoy fangirlie that hates having too much money to spare.

Why get something no one knows exists over an Xbox handheld (AMD-powered) that will be sold everywhere and actually has brand power and will be stronger since it's on par with the Xbox Series S?

Probably the MediaTek+Nvidia SoC instead
You want Nvidia for your graphics tech

Lol it's like a failure festival. What has sold more units so far Steam Deck or Series X? Neither can be over 5m

From my previous reporting, Xbox next gen hardware is targeting around 2027 (it's unclear if that's for the full launch or simply reveal at this time, but I expect it to be the launch window). From what I understand, there will be a true Xbox handheld made by Microsoft, complete with a docking station emulating the Nintendo Switch. Additionally, I'm expecting an Xbox Series X successor for those who want a more traditional console experience, potentially complete with the ability to side-load PC storefronts like Steam and Epic Games.

Holy fucking shit! Microsoft is making an Xbox Switch and it's the Surface Team making them, 2024 rumors were all true, holy shit!

It's Qualcomm

Hopefully this thing comes out early enough to flop so Sony to cancel the PS6 portable.
Handheld gaming is a meme no sane adult with access to their own television/monitor would engage with it.

a Qualcomm ARM-based Xbox handheld that docks like the Switch

How many normies will this filter when it launches in 2027?

the series s was cheaper than a switch and sold like a fart

No one is spending $1000+ on a next gen Xbox home console using AMD Zen 5 UDNA or $1000 on a Zen 6 UDNA PS6. PS handheld is going to fail because it can't play next gen games while having the same architecture as the PS6 meaning it's going to be around $700.

If normies are too good to spend $450 on a Switch 2 and Xbox handheld then maybe they shouldn't be in gaming.

Confirmed by whom?

I might get a MS handheld. But it has to work as a PC. I'd prefer if it didn't allow steam on it. Also has to be more powerfull than a series x. Or run series x games the same.

And needs to use a very low resolution. Preferably using an attatched phone screen. Utilising the phones hardware as an option. Or whoe unit a phone itself. With all buttons as adaptive triggers e 1 trigger doubles as 2 buttons at different sensitivity levels. Say 4 triggers. With hall effect thumbsticks. Compact, like a phone. Screen size can be small, small as a phone or smaller. Feel good to hold. And accept battery packs. Or have a couple usb ports so powrr bank can be attatched and left in other pocket. Must do raytracing.
Shold wait untill series x performance is possible. Series s is insufficient. But better aa and some tricks could make it work I suppose.

Would be great to work as a pc but at least needs to work as a phone. Browse internet.

Leaked PS6 specs better be bullsgit because that performance upgrade is diaguating. No where near close to another generation's worth. But neither was the PS5, or the PS4. I expect next gen to be at least 200tflops and do AI generation remotely, combinely, or locally on hardware. Next gen should be at least several years away. What people have is good enough now and can be pushed further bybusing tricks and low resolution. Making another gen now using a couple rtx 5090's and making it expensive woukd be a good option and ensure good hardware was mass priducedninstead of shit.

Should always mass produce the best. Anything else is degenerate.
More power effivient and do things better with time. Only take a few to several years before affordable for everyone. And by then having games for that are more than novelties that waste performace to ahow off a difference.

They were both $300 when they launched. The Series S was also a home console competing with the PS5 in the same year of release and itself with the Series X while also getting less of the marketing.

8 triggers. 4 for each hand. Handheld secured bynforce pushing from hands under finger length to eachother. Like a phone. More levels of force feedback ensitivity or button combinations could make typing using the triggers a lot better than just using thumbs on a touch screen.

see

Needs the xbox1/Series 's 12 bit colour. Otherwise has no edge over the competition. And needs the ability to change screen settings, like a colour profile, rgb different, lower gamma, increase contrast. Mpeg denoising, make motion smoother, add blur, a LOT of blur, and high quality blur. Have dynamic contrast, acl, intelligent clour etc.

User able to adjust display to their taste. Add colour or reduce it. With several settings available to change. So some different settings can be used for different things. Eg too dark for games darjer colours for movies. And so tryingbto makenthe perfect look for something isn't impeded by already having settings you like, ie amount if differnent profiles unrestricted.

No locked out cores or ram either. No os does not need several GB. Doesn't even need several MB. Not when running games.

and both xboxes sold like fart. Stop making up excuses, Xbox is dead and it's Microsoft's fault.

These two things from Jez doesn't make much sense. His first statement confirms that the handheld is going to be an Xbox Switch with no indication that it's have third party storefronts while the home console will. The second statement says it must be AMD but this falls apart with the handheld. If the handheld is Qualcomm ARM, they can just emulate the games by 2027 because the next Snapdragon X successor will be made for gaming and it would also mean no compatibility to third party stores while the console being AMD would have that compatibility with those stores. Jez may have his chip sources mixed given a Chinese leaker leaked Qualcomm for the 2027 Xbox handheld.

runs on ARM

costs a LEG

lmao.

You could say "I'm not buying one because the tech just isn't there yet".

barely marketed the Series S despite it outselling the Series X

release it in the same year as the PS5 instead of the year before

still making devices at the same level as the PlayStation, not a gen behind or a gen above

release nothing for it

It was like they wanted it to fail. It's different this time because normies are getting priced out of games and handhelds are taking their place, affordable ARM-based handhelds that is.

the Series S was like the 32X being sold alongside the Saturn.

it needs to be a Steamdeck

then why wouldn't you get the Steamdeck? you like Valve more than Microsoft.

Yup, fuck Phil for that one, I'm glad Microsoft stole his job from him. The Xbox handheld, gonna call it the Xbox Surface, will be the flagship now while I'm expecting the home console to be sold on the Microsoft Store only for a ridiculously high price. People missed all those test Microsoft were running on Snapdragon X chips for games with a similar power to the Series S last year.

This, it needs to be close to a home console as possible even if it's Windows. PC handhelds sell like shit and have no brand power.

Lol MS isn't undercutting Switch 1 or 2.
And Handheld gaming isn't popular all the portable PCs combined haven't sold 10 million units in 3 years
Nintendo Switch sells because it's the only place to play Nintendo games and it's the only tablet device parents are comfortable giving children to play with.

one day closer to the next xbox system's flop

some idiots think it has a space or can create one despite having absolutely new to attract

True, it'll sell on the notion of being the cheapest option for next gen gaming and being able to play third party games other handhelds can't while heavily optimizing those games. It being a generation graphically ahead of the Switch 2 and 2 generation ahead with onboard AI Acceleration and NPUs will also be a big help because it sets them apart compared to when they were going against the PlayStation. I don't think Microsoft is looking to beat Nintendo but be the go-to for high-end handheld gaming if Nintendo's the low-end.

What sales is affordability

Not necessarily. It's the ideal but falls flat when the product has no software; and gaming systems live and die by their software output. Xbox has nothing in the software department, last time they had anything remotely close to a killer app was KI in the xbone years. For this to have a shot it must be at $200 max

This is why Xbox Series flopped; cheap but no software to back it up, only fodder with GP shovelware, average at best new releases, glorified exclusives at best and a fuckton of old games trying to pass them as worth a new system purchase

They do, Microsoft is preparing for the end of normies in gaming.

What options would you have, those games would technically still be Xbox exclusives going against the Switch 2 because it's not powerful enough and that will really be the case once NPUs start being used. Outside the 2027 Xbox handheld, your other options are barely marketed PC handhelds starting at $600+, a $700 PS handheld in 2028 or 2029, an AMD Xbox home console at $1000+, and a PS6 at $1000 in 2028. Who's buying that crap? You're really just stuck with a Switch 2 and Xbox handheld, nothing else.

Not waste time and money in such a DoA idea. Similar to Sony's portal but Xbox and PS are stupid and can't even adress the issues in their home consoles and home console systems... despite installing them themselves

HARDWARE

This is true for literally every gen. Look it up. Multiplats are worthless in this regard. The console with the most exclusives ALWAYS WINS. No debate. This is why the xbox series failed, it had ZERO exclusives. Yes PC counts.

Again, there will be only two real options in the 2030s. Multiplats don't matter when the cost isn't there for the consumer. They will get the cheapest options or just stop gaming entirely.

what's the point?

It would be kinda cool if it plays original Xbox games so I could play shit like JSRF and Ninja Gaiden Black on it

Most people play fornite, cod, and fifa.

Outside the 2027 Xbox handheld, your other options

A beefy laptop or a Switch 2. More than enough for official means, outside official means there is chinky devices trying to ape handheld ideas and a "beefy" normiephone

Again, there will be only two real options in the 2030s

So? More than enough for the dark age ushered in the seventh generation

They will get the cheapest options or just stop gaming entirely.

Nothing wrong. If anything all of it is positive; it implies graphicwhore in home console could get the middle finger finally

You want DVD drive on a fucking handheld? What the fuck are you smoking? They could re-release the games now digitally on modern hardware if they thought it would make money

Handhelds are replacing gaming laptops. Gaming is becoming unaffordable. Only the affordable will survive.

Exactly

it would kinda make sense to be able to at least plug an external drive into the system and have it install games from disc to the internal storage or some shit

did I stutter?

Gaming is becoming unaffordable

Since the 7th, fag.

Handhelds are replacing gaming laptops

Never. And this includes the meme where laptops were replacing desktop PCs, smartphones replacing consoles and such

battery life: 2 hrs

If the handheld isn't cart based; it's bust

Bombastic AAA exclusives that take 4-5 years and hundreds of millions of dollars to make just to try and entice people to buy a specific console is unsustainable in the current AAA landscape. Consoles are already stopping being sold as loss leaders and within 5 years, Playstation is going to follow the gamepass model and become a full time 3rd party publisher. The writing is on the wall with PC releases and former exclusives going multiplat.

PC Handhelds aren't replacing shit and they're not affordable, stop this nonsense. There are only 3 million Steam Decks sold, that's less than the Series X, less than the FUCKING NOKIA N GAGE.
Non Nintendo handhelds are always going to be a niche curiosity for enthusiasts, not a massive market product. Too expensive and too bulky for children, the only demo who don't own a television or monitor.

That only applies to Xbox and PS; not videogames as a whole. And Sony and MS have been doing the opposite of videogames before that point so it's a meme. Videogame companies are fine

Exclusives are a meme these days. Its not the sixth generation anymore. The majority people aren't going out to buy ps5s to play astrobot.

Exclusives are a meme these days

Ok, xbox. Sit down and stay last place for not having them

I guess those aren't sony games on steam

guys holy shit it just leaked

td_xbox7202.jpg - 330x204, 19.38K

I don't give a shit about what most people play, I'm tired of retards acting like catering to people who barely play videogames is a good thing.
I don't give a fuck about what makes the most money, I don't give a fuck about what the average person does, I don't give a fuck about how many views something gets on twitch, I just want good games and I'm not going to pretend that its a good thing when good games aren't a focus.

I used to be a full idort and its been basically 3 gens in a row now where I've barely cared about consoles because they've abandoned exclusives and are just strictly worse versions of a shitty midrange PC that makes you pay to use your own internet and has restricted options for peripherals.

video games as a whole

???????

Microsoft and Sony are enormous players in the space, what on earth did you mean by this post? Individual devs and studios will benefit from exclusives not being a thing anymore because the access to more markets than they would have otherwise, especially with hardware becoming expensive as it is now.

Xbox games are literally the best selling games on Playstation right now and in this last month they have been seeling incredibly well on steam despite also being available on gamepass. Sony just announced that they are going to start changing their entire approach to mirror what Microsoft is doing, what are you on about?

Since the 7th, fag.

Wii and 360 were the affordable options and shitted on the PS3 for a long while.

They have no marketing, if Valve would have sold that thing in Wal-Mart, it would have sold well.

That only applies to Xbox

Used to, Microsoft has adopted Nintendo's strategy on game making now.

Nintendo still gets away with having true exclusives because they cost pennies to make and can turn a profit with much lower sales. Paper Mario selling 2 million is hunky dory. Horizon or Starfield selling 2 million is a disaster.

Microsoft and Sony are enormous players in the space

Western journo gaslight. MS and Sony got spotlight despite doing everything wrong for years creating the impression they're of any importance

Xbox games are literally the best selling games on Playstation right now

Forza is the best selling game on PS

Doubt.jpg

Wii and 360 were the affordable options and shitted on the PS3 for a long while.

Because they had games. PS3 was expensive and have no games.

Microsoft has adopted Nintendo's strategy on game making now.

Xbox doesn't have a single exclusive game. They haven't, not even changed at all since they're not making any change to their GPcentric model. And they have no reason for any change since it's the only xbox related thing making profits for once

Because they had games. PS3 was expensive and have no games.

Mostly third party games and a one year head start.

if this is cheaper and can run steam, that's enough to get people to buy it. depends if microsoft is willing to be a loss leader to not lose the umpc space to valve.

Xbox doesn't have a single exclusive game

This doesn't matter when most games released this year came from Microsoft exclusive or not. They making games with less budget and making the money back while Sony and third parties are sticking with their failed old strategy of one big game to save them every 10 years.

Nintendo and MS dropped exclusives onto Wii and 360 with Wario Ware, WiiSports, Amped 3, Quake and some others. Xbox played it specially smart since Halo 3 and other heavy hitters were secured before release and sharing some multiplats worked as a slow transition into the new system.

Nintendo isn't really competing with Microsoft or Sony but the Switch was largely a port machine and with the Switch 2 having more 3rd party support as a selling point, this will be the case again. A lot of people bought a Switch for the Nintendo 1st party games but the majority of its sales came from it being the cheapest console.

Oblivion Remaster

Expedition 33

Indiana Jones

I'm sure I'm missing some but that's in addition to Forza and now Doom Eternal but the best selling games on Playstation right now are all published under Xbox. You can say whatever you want about both Sony and Microsoft but their games are selling very well across *all* platforms and are making up a significant number of all games sold. Exclusives are going to largely not be a thing anymore in the next 5 years.

They making games with less budget and making the money back

The money doesn't comes from games anymore but services.

Services that have games on it. Sony is still trying to have their one yuge live service game but PS+ will eventually grow into a gamepass like system.

Credible insiders are saying otherwise, Microsoft wouldn't need to put their stuff on PC, third party stores, Switch, or PlayStation, if GamePass was saving their games. Many of those insiders, Microsoft one even, are also stating Microsoft is moving more and more away from GamePass. So, it's a wonder how long are they going to push that, until 2027. Phil Spencer no longer runs the show, Satya Nadella does.

I'm sure I'm missing some but that's in addition to Forza and now Doom Eternal but the best selling games on Playstation right now are all published under Xbox

You only prove Xbox and PS driven themselves into such bad states they're that starved for games. Only worthwhile new title has been Oblivion remaster and that isn't much considering most of its worth comes from being an old game. Xbox games simply don't sell or attract people, only games with a shot come from acquisitions made by ms like CoD, which an Activision game, not a xbox game (unless xbox's "leader" take his head out of his ass and makes CoD exclusive to Xbox as it should.

Microsoft barely dropped exclusives that gen and was held up by third parties. The Wii U, Xbone, and PS4 prove you wrong showing exclusives don't always sell consoles. The PS4 was beating both with just third party games while having an affordable price proving my point.

Services that have games on it.

Which is not videogames itself like you imply. It's a service around videogames

Sony is still trying to have their one yuge live service game but PS+ will eventually grow into a gamepass like system

Another victim of journo gaslighting creating impressions. It will be funny to see Sony failing due this, it's not going to end well for them

It really doesn't show. Xbox is getting their profits from external sources; GP service as a whole; online, dlc selling (the main reason why GP never includes dlc), microtransaction in general. Now they raised the price of GP according to plan so even now more money is flowing onto them plus them making a big thing anhy new game being released joining GP to make it more attractive to some surely doesn't scream dettachment from it tbqh

Nadella already does. Xbox has been a zombie since 2020(?), when was the Series announced? Because Nadella wasn't eager to keep the xbox brand around

Credible insiders are saying otherwise

People that play CoD only ever play CoD, you can see this manifestly in that despite the PS5 shipping around 75 million units, it's only ever used for a handful of games, they talk about this in how they want to increase the amount of people even playing monthly. There is also no way on earth that Activision would ever agree to cutting off 2/3rds of the market in the hopes that more people buy an Xbox, come on now.

Exclusives are largely dying. This is a good thing for you an me, the consumer. Having to buy a certain piece of hardware that is marginally different from another piece of hardware in order to play one or a handful of games is an awful value proposition and the market will reflect that within the next 5 years.

Microsoft barely dropped exclusives that gen and was held up by third parties

It dropped enough

big name backed titles like Blue Dragon and Lost odyssey

console dna titles like Halo and Gears

Variety titles like that JP push they tried with all those shmups

Some exclusive new IPs fostering a rising brand in gaming

360

The Wii U, Xbone, and PS4 prove you wrong showing exclusives don't always sell consoles

Mario Kart 8 had over 50% attach rate and Bloodborne is still to this day well regarded; exclusives do sell a system. And, don't forget, since they disregarded exclusives the xbox brand has only sold less and less consistently. If you don't have a killer app you have no future in videogames. That's why xbox is coping

The PS4 was beating both with just third party games while having an affordable price proving my point.

I like how you chose to ignore PS4 won that gen because the competition fucked over their marketing big time rendering it as the only choice.

Exclusives are largely dying

You went from they're dead to now they're largely dying. Nice. But still, exclusives aren't the ones dying, that's an impression you get by being reactive. Reality is only the brands you're focused on are the ones dying, meanwhile the ones that strickly stay within the manual and kept making videogames not falling for memes are healthy, debatably, better than ever, like Nintendo. The only bad thing for the consumer is lack of competition and this is happening because exclusivity disregarding leaving Nintendo pretty much alone when it comes to videogames; this is the real problem, more different things are needed and Nintendo barely had any competition and the last 2 idiots around killed themselves for the long run last decade.

You're a moron. Sony made more money this past fiscal year than anyone ever selling video games.

Sony only coast in his PS1/PS2 reputation, cope. Even fucking xbox is undercutting it unless they begin to make some exclusive games soon

You went from they're dead to now they're largely dying.

Read my posts again. I never said they are fully going away because of Nintendo (obviously) and onsies and twosies in the near future. I also never said any brand is dying, I don't know where you got this or why you think this but both Sony and Xbox are doing as well as they are largely because they either gave up or are giving up exclusivity which also factors in sales on the PC now as well. My whole point to all this is that exclusives are going away because of market reality, what you think is the tried and true method of making a tentpole game and making it exclusive is only working for Nintendo because of the overhead and initial time and investment being half of that of what Sony or Microsoft would do But Nintendo frankly has not been competing with either of them.

It dropped enough

They didn't, it sold on affordability and not being a PlayStation, exclusives were always a bonus, it all came down to affordability and competitor fuck ups.

When you have Microsoft insiders, like Tom Warren, knowing the ends and outs of Microsoft stating that Microsoft is no longer putting any effort into Game Pass internally, then that's what's happening, Nadella removed it from his bonus and it did nothing for COD. When your only hope for Game Pass to succeed is Nintendo and Sony allowing it to exist on your platform then it's not sustainable. Face facts, everyone was right and Microsoft thought Phil's Game Pass idea was stupid when he first brought it up, that should tell you everything.

Microsoft is getting their profits from everything but the Xbox console. You don't raise prices if your service is doing good.

your

*their

Anon… stop wasting your time. That guy is a retarded mouth breather.

Pretty much, he thought the 360 and PS4 won based on exclusives, don't know where that mindset came from.

If exclusives sell consoles, why is the PS5, a console with no games selling so well?
