Yeah I'm a zoomer and I'll be honest I only bought the game for the TF2 items back in like 2013. I only knew Heavy and I had no idea who Max, Strong Bad and Tycho were. But my uncle is a HUGE oldfag and told me about where they come from which sent down a years long rabbit hole of old internet culture which eventually led me here. (before 2016 thank you very much) I'm thankful for him.
