Dark Ages definitely changes that. Frequently you'll be going up against dozens of fodder enemies at once with a handful of stronger ones mixed in their ranks. It feels like the absolute best parts of Doom 2 at times and is probably the most mechanically faithful nu-Doom game in that sense. Also, unlike 2016 and Eternal, it has proper momentum based bunnyhopping so the gameplay is head and shoulders above Eternal in every way.

The New Order and New Colossus are both awesome games with some of the most satisfying gun feel of all time. New Colossus lost the plot super hard with its story though, and the levels were nowhere near as interesting and varied as New Order. Blazkowicz was well fleshed out though, no matter what anyone says they did a good job giving him a true personality and character arc. Shame they ditched it for the retarded daughters in the third game though.
