Twilight Princess MegaThread

Completely forgotten outside of Midna porn

Nobody discusses the dungeons, memorable music, doesn't inspire threads full of discussion like Morrowind or Ocarina of Time

Why did it fail?

It's twenty years old. What else is there to talk about?

Good games (Morrowind, NV) get spammed all day long by old and new players. The ones we don't talk about are generally the shit ones

only trannies spam the games you mentioned

I mean it didn't fail at all. It sold like 8.8 (heh) million and even got a re-release. The girls from it are still obsessed over by coomers. A lot of the items are cool as shit. It's a good game that's just too easy. Which honestly describes most of the series after Zelda 2. The only people I've ever seen consistently hate are console warriors and Zelda fans who have their own favorite. The only Zelda games I'd consider forgotten are the Phillip ones

Completely forgotten outside of Midna porn

Its one of my favorite games of all time and I have no affinity for Midna porn.

Nobody discusses the dungeons, memorable music

except we do every thread about it

Why did it fail?

It didn't. It saved the series and was the best selling game before BotW came along

Snowpeak mogs your favorite dungeon btw

I got about half way through, found it a boring slog, and stopped playing. IT was my last Zelda game and I haven't looked back since.

I tried to play it for her but I didn't like it enough to continue past the first dungeon. The only zelder game I stuck with for more than one session was link to the past, this series simply isn't for me.

These are exactly the types of secondaries that WOULD be interested in Midna porn. Probably brown too.

be ashamed of not liking my babby game right now!!

No thanks. Anything else?

Good games (Morrowind, NV) get spammed all day long

post five threads about them posted here these past three days

The irony of your arbitrary criteria is someone made a morrowind thread right as you posted this

boring, empty hyrule field

bunch of gimmick items you only ever use when the game makes you

shitty wolf sections

few standout dungeons but generally they’re just mid

Hmm yeah I wonder why no one talks about this crap.

MegaThread

Made me think HD was getting ported to the Switch for a second Never ever :C

Just say you wanted Midna posted

Morrowind gets semi-hourly threads every day anon. Compare TP which attempted to be open world to that game from 2002 running on shit code and it’s night and day

Cool items like the Spinner and Dominion Rod don't get any use outside of their dungeons.
Game relies too much on hookshot puzzles.
Doing content makes the game too easy since most rewards are heart pieces. You have to play with quad damage taken to have any challenge.
I like the OoT formula but I can see others getting tired of it and wants the series to do something different. The issue is that Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild didn't do it.

Garbage game

Unironically needs a remake, not a shitty remaster but what they did with FFVII. It has potential but so many flaws it should just be scrapped and remade from the ground up with new code, assets, harder difficulty & story

Brown and bloom garbage that blends.

The lore for Zelda is a joke. Morrowind has tons of npcs, characters, backstories, races, etc... to have discussions for years.

brown amy poster calling anything 'babby'

ironic

This

It gave me SotC and ICO aesthetic but the boss fights were too easy and braindead compared to the other zeldas.

It was the style of the time. I think they did a good job with it. It's like an HD version of OOT/MM's style, with just a bit less color.

It's still my favorite Zelda game. I just don't really feel the need to talk about it anymore. I usually replay it once every few years.

Twilight Princess was the highest selling Zelda game until the openworldslop era. It's not forgotten, it's a 20 year old game and there's nothing to say that hasn't been said 1 million times.

Cool things in TP:

has 9 3D dungeons, more than any other 3D Zelda

most of the dungeons are pretty good, some are even great

cool and inventive new items like the spinner and double clawshot

cool main character and enemy designs

Not cool things in TP:

tutorial

twilight bugs x3

game is way too easy: enemy AI is extremely passive AND only does a quarter heart per hit

wolf transformation is half baked compared to any of MM's transformation masks

NPCs look really weird

Morrowind gets semi-hourly threads every day anon

ok, post five of them from the past three days then

>tutorial

GOAT IN! GOAT IN! GOAT IN!

Morrowind gets semi-hourly threads

It does NOW after Oblivion just got a remake and Morrowboomers are having a meltie that their game didn't get a remake.
Morrowind didn't get half as many threads in 2024

The first ~4 hours of TP suck really hard. Once you beat the 2nd dungeon, it really picks up and it's one of the best post-MM Zeldas. It also has the 2nd best 3D water dungeon in the series. It's a shame that the first segment of the game is such a slog.

For some reason, I never finished the game. I say this as someone who literally got their parents to get them a Wii pre-order just to play twilight princess after it came out.
But I never finished the game. I must have played through most of it, in fact I remember pulling an all nighter playing the game, I think I was on a hyrule temple dungeon that's all I can remember idk if this was even the end of the game, I think I played through all the dungeons and temples outside of the last 1 or 2.

But to this day, I have never finished the game, and I have no idea why I stopped playing it.

Maybe there was just another game out on the xbox 360 that I decided to play instead and then completely forgot to finish twilight princess, idk.

All I can remember are a few levels, the snow house one on the mountain, the water temple with the levels and the waterfall thing in the middle, and the desert temple with the cog thing you rode on. Oh yeah that sky temple too with the chicken things.

I remember that I always kept a save file right in front of the 3rd dungeon. TP's Forest Temple and Goron Mines are above-average dungeons when you look at the series as a whole but they're not worth the tedium leading up to them.

2nd best 3D water dungeon

Lakebed Temple is my favorite water dungeon in the series, what's yours? If I were to rank them, it would probably be Lakebed > Ancient Cistern > Great Bay > OOT Water

OP: Deservedly forgotten game.

ME: Remembered game

Why is this true you ask? Simply, Ocarina of Time was always a good game for anybody, whereas Twilight Princess was always just a game for Zelda emo geeks.

better dungeons than botw/totk

better ost than botw/totk

better NPCs than botw/totk

better bosses and final boss than botw/totk

better combat than botw/totk

better story than boyw/totk

that sky temple too with the chicken things.

I liked the level design for that place but the music was pretty unbearable. It would probably be better without the constant bird chant sounds.

Lakebed Temple is my favorite water dungeon in the series, what's yours?

Great Bay > Lakebed > Ancient Cistern > OOT Water
I like Great Bay being focused around the central rotating room and Zora Link makes navigating it feel like a breeze.

008.jpg - 640x360, 26.5K

I never liked wolf link and it soured me on the entire game

it sounds fine at first but the longer you're there the more annoying it becomes

youtube.com/watch?v=55xFuITte2k

and yet botw and totk have sold more and will now be the standard design for zelda games going forward.
curious, isn’t it?

I'd like to play it but they never made a port of it or WW to Switch.

dungeons

Straight lines

memorable music

Not a thing

doesn't inspire threads full of discussion like Morrowind or Ocarina of Time

Because it was garbage and didn't even have the unique artstyle WW had, so some retards could obsess over it. Mina porn is literally the only good thing to come out of this game.

I think it's more curious that Twilight Princess was the best selling Zelda prior to Botw yet Aonuma still felt the need to tank the franchise

Still stupid how WWHD and TPHD are still stuck on the Wii U after all these years. It's free money for Nintendo and yet they refuse to bring those over.

It's like an HD version of OOT/MM's style, with just a bit less color.

No, it wasn't. It was dull looking garbage. And being "OOT/MM's style, with just a bit less color" doesn't make any sense since the style of these games is colorful by nature.

Because the game is dreadful for almost 5 hours and just mediocre for the rest of its duration.

This. Fucking zoomers think they know everything.
OOT is one of the most colorful games of all time. Color is inherent to it's style and why it's beloved.

color.jpg - 1024x768, 278.49K

Twilight Princess was the highest selling Zelda game until the openworldslop era. It's not forgotten, it's a 20 year old game and there's nothing to say that hasn't been said 1 million times.

This doesn't clue you in on anything? Other Zelda games have threads from time to time. It's because TP has no replayability and there's nothing special about it. People talk about DMC3, Dark Souls, Morrowind, Zelda 1, because there's different ways to play.

horrid pacing and hours upon hours of tutorials

Middle of the pack Zelda so we've seen this all before and it wasn't first

Ocarina did the formula better

too easy, combat is brain dead and boring as you're never in any danger

exactly ONE way to play every encounter, dungeon, no chances, no customization, nothing

Literally every vtuber has been streaming it lately so clearly not forgetten

Yeah i just replayed it, the only really good dungeons are lakebed snowpeak and city. Rest were straight lines

OoT > MM > WW > TP > everything else > BotW and TotK

Stop watching men pretending to be anime girls

Ocarina of Time > A Link to the Past > Majora’s Mask > Link’s Awakening > Oracle of Ages > The Minish Cap > A Link Between Worlds > Wind Waker > Oracle of Seasons > Twilight Princess > Adventure of Link > Breath of the Wild > Skyward Sword > Tears of the Kingdom > DS games > Original

TP has the best dungeons and that's when you stop?

Bait or tourist? Kys either way

Literally identical to Twilight Princess.

006.jpg - 640x360, 55.67K

It was my first real entry, but I considered the N64 titles, which I would play much later, better, at least overall. I had a crush on this one's Zelda that I would not get for the others, though.

That’s awful

Majora's Mask > A Link to the Past > Ocarina of Time > Oracle of Ages > Twilight Princess > Link's Awakening > A Link Between Worlds > Oracle of Seasons > Zelda 2 > Skyward Sword > Wind Waker > Zelda 1 > Spirit Tracks > Phantom Hourglass

ALTTP and OoT are super extremely close but ALTTP wins because I've replayed it 50 times.

>Completely forgotten

Twilight Princess is the 2nd best selling Zelda game after botw

It looks better than breath of the wild

Nintendo should bring hard mode to their games already, not even normal and hard just a hard mode that makes everything more challenging seriously Mario games weren't easy until they switched to 3d, if you wanted easy you played kirby

They added one in TP HD except the regular hard mode wasn't that good so you needed to spend $12 on ganondorf.
The game is more fun without the heart drops so potions matter and having boss attacks actually do damage to you. Rupee inflation was sorta fixed in HD but only because half of those chest got stamps.

I don't blame you. The first half of the game sucks. Actually most Zeldas are like that.

Pointing out that autistic people talk about sandbag juggling simulator 3 24/7 detracts from the point you are making
TP is a linear action game, same as every Zelda from ALTTP through SS. It's old and it doesn't have fanboys/haters like other games that Anon Babbleirgins love to post about.

Hero Mode

Twice the amount of damage, hearts don't drop

...that's a start but man. That's barely anything. That should just be normal mode.

i liked the manga.

What implications does this have for the Zelda lore?

Hero Mode + Mirrored + Ganon Amiibo

Ganondorf mode made it 4x damage which is why it’s better and makes a significant change.
The original difficulty was 100% because of the Wii’s target audience, and also the 2nd half of the game does have some aggressive enemies here and there. Tonal mismatch with this being the mature Zelda game.

Legend of Zelda: Toilet Paper

I’m reading it right now and he just got the Master Sword. It’s surprisingly good, you actually get to see the Twilight Realm past the palace and this Zelda has more going for her. I’m still waiting for Link to get a fucking shield though.

I've tried to replay it twice, that intro is just so fucking atrocious. Honestly it's a great game that I rank as one of the worst. First 4 hours are just so bad.

Tonal mismatch with this being the mature Zelda game.

I get the sense that Ocarina got too popular, and they were TERRIFIED of new players being lost or confused. They were trying to make everyone happy, including literally 6 year olds.

I'm checking youtube, and yep, it's like 45 minutes until you get the first combat tutorial. In Ocarina it's like 5 minutes tops to get the Kokiri sword, and they give you a little pop up screen of instructions then tell you start playing. TP is like 45 minutes and it's not just "here's a sword", its a long boring tutorial on the damn thing first.

Horrid horrible pacing all to ensure that the new baby audience isn't lost or confused. I gurantee you people played the game, said it was alright, then put it down and never touched it again. It's just so slow and boring.

There is no way to play the game at all right now because Nintendo refuses to port the remaster, which means that there aren't new players trying the game and discussing it

OoT Masters > MM > OoT > LA switch > BotW > aLttP > SS > LA > Zelda > TP > WW > TotK

aRPyZqQ_460s.jpg - 460x1446, 201.36K

It's the coolest and most "adult" zelda game.

This, except
This

i absolutely love link's personality, the author really nailed it
wish we could have a new zelda game with a voiced link (no, not that game)

feels.jpg - 2133x1600, 745.16K

Ganondorf talking to Zelda about the cycle of rebirth and how he wants to break it by actually winning this time.

Link lamenting how he was forced into this role without his consent and the Hero shade trying to convince him to still do it, even though he has no choice.

Link turning against Hyrule for a moment when Auru and the Hyrule soldiers see Midna as a threat, in order to protect her.

Ganondorf killing himself to spite Link and Zelda and repeat the vicious cycle again for another try for revenge.

I love when "chosen one" characters actually take notice of their fate and try to rebel against their role or seeing it as a curse.

I said it before and i will probably say it whenever i see TP discourse, TPs issue is that it only gets good once the Lakebed Temple starts and that makes it really fucking annoying to replay, without being replayed it has a harer time starying fresh in people memories. Intro Section-Bug Hunt-Forest Temple-Bug Hunt-Goron Mines-Bug Hunt is an annoying as fuck stretch. I think Lakebed is a relatively underrated dungeon.

I put 125 hours in it. I was a bored kid.

gothic dark fantasy art style

melancholic music with piano, violins, flute, choirs, and HOWLING

fun and emotional story about facing your inner fears, with an incredibly heartbreaking bittersweet ending

the only game in the series where Link has an actual personality and character arc

Midna is bursting with charisma, personality, sassiness, and her relationship with Link is great. Goes from sexo to ultra sexo. Best companion in the franchise

cold kuudere Queen Zelda with mature giga Stacy personality

ability to turn into a WOLF and fight twilight beasts from alternative reality

fully explorable Hyrule castle town filled with NPCs and activities

multiple armors that all have their own unique functions

aggressive combat system with multiple secret techniques learned from the previous incarnation of Link

City In The Sky, Arbiter's Grounds, Snowpeak Ruins, Temple Of Time, Hyrule Castle, Palace Of Twilight

dungeons requiring you to use a spiked metal ball with a chain, a mechanical bay blade that lets you ride across walls, and magnetic boots that let you walk on ceilings

wrestling, snowboarding, kayak swimming, goat riding, fishing, ball rolling, bug collecting, vessels of light, white water rafting, cave of ordeals, etc, etc

cast of side characters that include a small weak beta village boy learning to be the next hero of Hyrule besides Link, a goth tomboy knight girl, coward father who ran away to join the Resistance, gothic formicophilia lolita queen, an androgynous Indian cowboy protector of children in a wild west village, three year old baby who's a master businessman, a clown creating basically machine of war, elf journalist version of Otacon, and amnesiac nature/animal lover girl

kino of the highest caliber and best Zelda desu. it takes me back to 2006

great dungeons

Can't die, impossible to get lost, no puzzles that take more than a few minutes

Its a pretty interesting game but i kinda got filtered by one of the dungeons and stopped playing. i should probably restart my playthrough at some point.

Ugly

I like how when Farron tells him he’s the hero, he actually responds and initially rejects the idea at first because of his previous failures. It further reinforces the parallel to other major characters in the story and he’s actually grown from it as well. I also liked Ilia’s story a lot better with her having repressed memories instead of just amnesia and also having a more timely conclusion.

Great game

The damage scaling is nice but it really should have also upped the enemy count and aggression. There is not a single combat scenario in all of 3D Zelda that can hold a (Red) candle to any of the darknut and wizzrobe rooms from the first game.

It was honestly kind of shit. Most of the dungeons really sucked, the side quests had you going all over Hyrule, which was so big that you needed to use fast travel. The mini games were also really bad. The entire Gamecube era of Zelda games was just them not knowing what to do, they hit perfection with OoT and then it was over. Gimmick hell had set in.

Anika love

Anika a cute.png - 1919x949, 1.66M

TP had a lot of OOT nostalgia in it

There is nothing to say about them.

TP, WW and SS are all bland ass, overrated games fellated by journalists on name alone by OOT's success and it took BoTW to remind people why this franchise was important

Those I remember just from today and yesterday

coward father who ran away to join the Resistance

Rusl seemed like the complete opposite of a coward though? A coward wouldn't go back out to protect the village after already getting beaten and bloodied by king bulblin.

If Nintendo made Zelda: Ocarina of Morrowind it would probably be considered one of the best games ever. TP especially feels on rails and like you're wearing a straight jacket. Allow for more equipment options, more player choice, open up the map a bit, allow you to explore. The game instead wants you to play in a very linear fashion, with the exact same progression of equipment.

What if I want to start with bows? What if I want to be a two-handed sword guy? Or what if I like Axes? There should be options for tier 1 weapons and equipment.

I dunno man if you want Morrowind then just play Morrowind

arbiters grounds was so fucking cool

Releasing the mini boss from it's Shinto imprisonment was cool
