Gameplay wise, I think BL2 fine tuned a lot of the ideas from 1, including the manufacturers having more than just passive statistical differences and actual gameplay differences to them as well as visually unique designs. the main issue is that as games become more expensive they've generally gotten worse, not better. And it's rare to spend full price for a game and have that be the complete product. There's always dlc or microtransactions.
