you heard AAfags bitch and whine about how AA batteries on controllers were "better" because in like 15 or so years you'd need to spend $10 to replace your faulty integrated battery
You heard AAfags bitch and whine about how AA batteries on controllers were "better" because in like 15 or so years...
I've never had a bad battery in a controller before and I repair these things for side cash. AAs are fine because I just use eneloops.
Just use a fucking wire dipshit. holy fuck whats wrong with you wasteful faggots.
batteries dead
replace batteries
vs
batteries dead
proceed to game for the next few hours with your controller leashed on dogshit chink micro usb that constantly slips out and will need to be replaced every two months
I have become a AA battery enjoyer. It's wild how long electronics last when the main point of failure isn't the battery.
they still make peripherals that require batteries even now. its not just no-name chinese brand even logitech makes keyboards that require 2 AA batteries. a usb-c charging board and a battery cost like 50cents but companies are too greedy
i think microsoft / sony forced controller makers to use rechargeable ever since they stopped getting kickbacks from the battery companies and realised longer play sessions makes them more money
wireless is gay unless you absolutely need it. wired ftw
200x
201x
202x
being a batterykek
I'd rather pay $10 every 5 years ($2/year) to deal with AA batteries.
Stay mad, Microsofturd.
Battery low
Unplug my phone and plug the controller
Damn that was so hard
Just spend 20 bucks on an charger with two pairs of eneloops. Controller lasts fucking forever because you have 4000-5000 mAh capacity whereas the average controller has like 1000-1300 mAh, and when your controller finally dies on you, you have another pair of charged batteries to swap to in like 15 seconds. Cord cucks will never understand this freedom.
wired is best
It's wild how long electronics last when the main point of failure isn't the battery.
All the Hall Effect/TMR shills gush about their controllers being practically immune to drift, but 99% of controllers with that feature have internal batteries that will die long before drift becomes an issue.
TMR and hall effect is cool but when will all buttons be optical so they last longer?
anyone know of a suitable battery replacement for stadia controllers?
tempted to just get a knockoff instead if its more than 10 bucks
Stadia controllers have dogshit latency unless you're playing wired.
or i could just never have to worry about battery life
why are you so bothered by the existence of a wire
My PS4 battery needed replacement after 6 months and then the cheap chink one I got needed replacement after 4 months.
My small n3DS is having battery issues. I can easily access the battery, unlike many devices with an integrated battery. What are the odds that I can find a good replacement for it today? What are the odds that I will be able to find a good replacement for it ten years from now?
why are you so bothered by the existence of a wire
I inherited a cockatoo from my uncle that screams "fuck the Knicks" and chews all my shit up.
kek
that's a good reason
Based cockatoo
Pickings are slim for the smaller n3ds because it's the only device that uses that form factor battery. I've heard that regular 3ds batteries fit, but you might need to roll up some tape or something for padding. The 3dsxl has a lot of choices, because it shares the battery with the switch pro controller.
mfw I use Eneloop batteries
takes forever to drain
even if they do drain, I can quickly replace them with new ones in 10 seconds
there are perfectly good batteries for DSi with almost triple the mAh so you'll be fine.
Just charge your controller when not in use.
Is this hard to do?
Or are you too lazy to plug a controller in when you are done using it?
leaving your phone plugged in all the time
IKEA's rechargeables are also eneloop tier.
I think replaceable AA batteries are a good route since they're everywhere, but there is the downside of them being 1.2V
Regular AA batteries are 1.5V so they last longer but you can't charge them.
Fresh AA alkaline batteries: ~1.5V each, so ~3.0V total.
Shutdown usually occurs when battery voltage under load falls below ~1.0–1.1V per cell.
Also, consider this:
Typical Battery Life Estimates:
Battery Type Approximate Battery Life
Alkaline AA (Duracell/Energizer) 25–40 hours
Rechargeable NiMH (e.g., Eneloop) 20–30 hours
Xbox Rechargeable Battery Pack 20–30 hours
This is why a modded GBA will always have a special place in my heart.
I think we just need a new set of standardized batteries, but also commitment from manufacturers to use them.
or they can just use AA batteries like normal human beings
Longer play sessions?
Rechargeable batteries have shorter play sessions
I'm talking about for stuff that AA batteries wouldn't be suitable. Like we need standard sizes for laptops, cell phones, all sorts of stuff. Not just one, but an assortment of sizes with standardized form factors and power specs.
mfw snoys will never experience this
Spent 6 years with a sony DS4 and 5 years on my Xbox. Battery swapping rechargables is vastly superior. Only exception is something like the WiiU pro controller, but that had something like 120 hour battery life which nobody makes anymore.
Problem is the controller dies in under 4 hours when completely charged.
ironically these fucking 360 battery compartments fail over time because the little prongs inside get bent/damaged much faster than an internally battery will die.
Aren't regular AAs only at full voltage for the very first bit of usage and then drops off super fast, while most rechargeables hold their voltage and then drop off fast when theyre empty? E.g. why a flashlight with alkalines will get dimmer and dimmer but a lithium one will run and run and then shut off flat.
I have had a plug and play kit for my Xbox controller for over 7 years.
Each charge lasts well over 25 hours. Usually I just charge it once a week and im often good.
Laptops used to use standard size battery cells just in different numbers and sizes. My old-ass Thinkpad has a stock battery with 6 cells in it and for the bigger one they just added 3 so the battery hangs off the back of the laptop. Fucking thing lasts a week between charges.
These aren't Sony controllers, they work wired without the battery. Not that changing out the old one would be expensive or complicated either if it did get to that point.
I dont know why people complain about the PS5 controller. If you plug in your controller every time you sit down and pee, it brings play time from 4 hours to 4.5 hours.
