Star Ocean 1 is one of the worst games I have ever tried to play

I quit after permanently missing a major party because I didn't pick some little thing on the ground, and the MASSIVE difficulty spikes that hard require grinding

4 was alright and 5 well the characters had ok designs to bad nothing else was properly worked on. Also 1 would be higher if it didn't suffer from the early jrpg tedium. Its still worth playing before 4 though.

it's unfinished. Like less than 8hrs in the game. All the background is set up for nothing to happen. iirc then cut production and shipped out what they had.

I don't know if I can say it's better than the original. A lot of the cities were just way less atmospheric without the pre rendered environments, and the difficulty just felt way undertuned. I think it's a great remake, definitely what I would recommend for people starting the series, but the original 2 has so much charm that was missing.

I would pick it up for cheap like around $10 if you finish the other games. It's the shortest SO game, but it still does some interesting things like having a full team in gameplay.

No i didn't have a guide and i can't fucking know if there is more to craftcookmixsnort with that specific ingredient. Boulder Crush man. Setting him up for post game to deal millions of damage for a swing of his sword is fun. Other characters might be fun to use but the good old unga bunga is always reliable.

I think the refreshes the crystals 3 times throughout the game so revisiting early areas is a must if you want to max out all DUMA skills.
