These mandatory stages ruin Sunshine
These mandatory stages ruin Sunshine
you have shit taste op
i loved those stages, they were the best part of the game
it would be cool if they made an entire Mario game based on those stages
You haven't seen shit, try playing Eclipse.
Also those stages were the best part in the game.
I'm glad you're not having fun
On the contrary. It gives you a taste of actual platforming.
The stages would be fine if the camera wasn't off in timbuktu leaving mario as a microscopic dot on the screen. If the camera was like in Odyssey nobody would think these levels were challenging
Those stages are the only redeeming part of Sunshine
and here I thought it was all the boring, overly kiddie shit that ruined it
I should really download the PC port of 64 and see what custom levels are out for it
The worst you can say is that it is immersion breaking from the beach vibes. Other than that, the platforming was fun.
Not that hard.
the only actual platforming in this platformer ruined the game
this is why people don't like gamecube only kids
These are literally the only good parts of mario sunshine which is from start to finish a painfully tedious experience.
lol look at all those seething zoomer replies
Whatever you think of it it is LITERALLY impossible to play through Sunshine and not have sweaty hands going through these levels. You're a fucking liar if you say otherwise.
I look forward to those stages on every play through.
Still better than the Galaxies because there's no waggleshit
64
Sunshine
64 DS
Galaxy
Galaxy 2
3D Land
3D World
Odyssey
Bowser's Fury
Sunshine is easily the most frustrating and tedious of this bunch
Learn how to spin jump, pleb
it would be cool if they made an entire Mario game based on those stages
basically 3d land/3d world.
so go buy or emulate those.
I would rather replay sunshine 20 times than odyssey once.
basically 3d land/3d world.
These games are insanely mediocre due to the awful movement and uninspired level themes.
I wonder what the c-stick is used for in this game
Git gud
Only bad one was the chuckster level.
they're more similar to Mario Galaxy

Skill issue
Nah bro those things are great. The fucking awesome background CG alone is epic
I liked these way more than the 100 coin stars in Mario 64 which people eat up for some reason.
At least the 100 coin missions aren't mandatory to beat 64
I think you'll find more custom levels for the ROM version, but I don't know I haven't checked the pc port for a while
its not mario but splatoon
That music is burned into my brain forever.
youtu.be
Now it's in yours.
those special areas in sunshine take away your fludd but they don't give you back your mario 64 movesets when they do. they at least fixed the movement in the switch port of 3D world
Obligatory art post
no specific missions in mario 64 are mandatory to beat it except the first one of dire dire docks. every other one is up to preference. you don't even have to get the king bob bomb star if you don't want to.
none of your options give you a camera that isn't a thousand miles away.
Nah those are the best parts of Sunshine
The only bad one is chucksters.
They were a fun break from fludd-centric platforming
filtered by a mario game
Is this game actually better than Galaxy or no
only one way to find out
skill issue
i am good at it therefore it is good
flawed logic
the two are pretty different that it's not really worth comparing them. galaxy is more of a bog standard mario game where every star is basically a different level even in the same galaxies. galaxy also wasn't rushed like sunshine was.
Those were fun obstacles course which spared the player a chance for some old-fashioned platforming for when you didn't have to rely on Fludd for once. You'd appreciate it more if you were better at the game.
Sunshine and Galaxy are too different to be directly compared.
Given Sunshine has open explorable worlds and Galaxy levels are very linear minus an extra path way here or there.
Glaxy's design is more inline with 3d land/world than 64/sunshine/odyssey.
So it comes down to how linear or open you want your game to be. Along with preference for beach/tropic theme vs space.
I tend to favor Sunshine though.
Sunshine is one of the harder Mario games and I think it's no coincidence that OP seems to "dislike" this game a lot and keeps making hate threads about it.
I don't like throwing this out a lot but unironically "git gud"
Man, are there ANY indie games that are just levels like this with this degree of movement? I'm not asking for Mario romhacks, I've played those. I'm just curious why nobody can replicate this.
It's not hard at all. It just has a few particularly annoying levels like the watermelon one.
Nigger that's not a difficult stage at all. Just be glad it's not a stage with this music in it.

They were by far the best part. Those stages are sunshine's #1 redeeming factor.
Galaxy is the worst so yes
The hard part of Sunshine is not falling asleep when you're forced to do all the puzzle/gimmick missions with no platforming
Ironic when the 100 coin Shines in Sunshine are on average 5x worse than the ones (Stars) in 64.
Kero Quest 64 is probably going to be the closest thing
