I boycotted Mass Effect 3 back in the day because of its always online, day 1 dlc requirements.

I've decided to replay Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 (original versions, not 2021 release) and I've already completed them. I last played them in 2010 apparently. I saw Mass Effect 3 with all of its DLC's on sale for ~5 euros and picked it up after all these years (and I want to finish the series fully). I'm still playing it at the moment.

In the 3rd game, I immediately spotted the rot as I suspected back then too. Suddenly girlbosses come out and various men are actually powerless or incompetent (Krogan Woman, Salarian Dalatrass etc.), also more in-your-face gay and lesbian stuff at various points. Kind of weird that you have the sexy and attractive characters (too much in case of Ashley even) mixed with this rot in the writing. I guess game designers were not completely infiltrated with the idpol and anti-normative beauty ideology back then. This is back in 2012 too. While it went back on these kinds of areas, it went forward on many of them so I think it's well worth 5 euros.

You're part of some provisional security force formed in the fallout of the Reaper invasion and you're stationed on some important but unstable planet. The galaxy saving is over, we've already done that, there is no point in retreading that ground.

Larian would massively fail at making a ME game because ME is all about likeable companions that got the MC's back. Your PC in DAO and BG3 always felt kinda "lame" not matter how cool his design or decisions were because all he ever did was emote awkwardly.
