Dragon Slope is the best track once you know the trick to preserving speed after dives. You can break 4000km on the last dive doing that and just that one trick alone is enough to obliterate the staff ghost.

Trident for machine-smashing kino. i had a phae where i would only play that track with the objective of destroying as many opponents as possible. I think I got down to 8.

I've lost runs to that at least a few times. I'd argue that 1/5/7 are the hardest of the story mode races. I don't know how you're meant to do 7 without snaking.

Only way I could beat 7 on Very Hard was to take out Black Shadow immediately, Blood Falcon by the end of lap 1, and then make no mistakes for the rest of the race. I think I used momentum throttling sometimes too but I can't remember.

I've done Chapter 7 without snaking, but it took killing Black Shadow at the beginning, and some insane star alignment bullshit. I did it once and I thought for sure the run was dead yet I stole 1st at the very end.

Will the switch have it with online play? I saw some people claim that but i don't really know if that's true since I don't have a switch to test if older local multi games have that

Its something that doesnt get talked about as much but yeah, if you want something that's also borderline impossible without advanced techs, the staff ghost for the very 1st track is absolutely brutal. I'm pretty sure said staff ghost actually uses advanced techs too, while being on a good machine (Death Anchor if I remember right)

It probably does. Lateral Shift's staff ghost is infamous for using shift boosts so the staff do know about them.

Some of the machines are so shitty that I have to wonder why. The Wild Goose handles like shit, boosts like shit, and those two are pretty much all it needs to be bottom tier.

I've usually been able to do the 2tap to kill Black Shadow, but Blood Falcon's another story.
For me though, the hardest thing in the game was Cylinder Knot's staff ghost. It uses one of the best machines in the game, takes immaculate racing lines, and it's extremely hard to snake at all on that track. Somehow managed it with snaking, but I don't think I could replicate it.

Racing on Mute City for the first time has been the only time my jaw dropped when playing a game. Maybe when I saw 3D graphics as a child, but F-Zero GX is the one I remember doing that.

Acro Lynx G4 was my easy 'n cheasy custom machine of choice, but the whole system is kinda janky. There's a handful of parts that are batshit crazy good and a whole lot that are just garbage, and a handful of combos that do weird physics things like easy flying ships but they don't really feel as unique as all the original machines and their subtle (and sometimes way less than subtle) handling differences that aren't summed up by the ABC scale.
