So they can get away with it.

Honestly, I hate AI, but every time we have a localizer thread and every time I see people here defend shitty localizations, I hate AI a little less.

Using AI for translation isn't "taking away someones job." Since a localizer isn't the original author. If the AI can get closer than these shitty localizers can, then it should go to the AI.

Of course, ideally, you'd have a real person translating it. And judging the nuance of things. But since they've proven countless times they won't limit themselves just to the nuance and instead full on change what the original author wrote, then you need an alternative. 90% of dialogue can be directly translated. Even between Japanese and English. And they can't even use the excuse of having to flip sentence structure or put the nouns after the verbs, since English can do it the Japanese way as well. They go out of their way to change stuff just for the sake of change. Even when it completely ruins the scene.

Japanese: Character delays saying a persons name until the end of the sentence for dramatic effect.
English localization: Puts the name at the front of the sentence just to be different. And tells the voice actor to really ham up the acting specifically on the characters name just to rub it in even more.
