Anon it's not 2012 anymore you're not going to burn through three of them via steam's WRITING TO DISK
I thought I was kinda late fully migrating to SSDs in 2018 lmao
How the fuck do you not have an SSD by now?
System requires you to dress up as a woman
what are some games
It's the bare minimum today, even windows is shit without it.
What fucking year is it
Dragon's Dogma has a drag sidequest
cloud obviously exists
SSDs were useful for their extremely fast load times
games nowadays are so bloated that loading is no longer near-instant even on an SSD
tfw no crossdressing bugs bunny bf
why even live
how do you even have a pc in 2024 without an ssd
Nigga, I only have had ssds for over 8 years. Its moslty nvme's now
I would.
dude you NEED an ssd. i myself used to be suborn about it too. but once i finally got one it feels literally impossible to go back. ssds aren't even expensive anymore. just use a ssd for a boot drive and hdds for everything else at the very least.
quick reminder that in 2024 a bunch of supposedly "next" (((gen))) games run on a ps4 (hdd)
you have been played like a fool and I will NEVER upgrade until my ps4 dies or Snoy-california allows for local backups and ps plus is not mandatory (I'm not paying for using my internet twice, I just won't lol)
we can only dream, anon
I remember getting SSD early. God damn it was so refreshing to load games in a second. Now it's just sad
Anon, is trying to fit in or contrarianism really worth it if you make your daily PC activities a slog? Being poor is no excuse anymore with how dirt cheap SSDs are nowadays.
People don't seem to understand that you can use both SSDs and HDDs in one system and don't have to be a tribalistic faggot about it.
Use the former for your OS and easily replaceable software like games and the latter for long term storage.
hips wider than shoulders
That's not dressing up as a woman, that's a woman
His pockets are full of carrots.
I remember buying my first SSD in 2011. How fucking poor are you, retarded faggot?
you havent watched much looney tunes huh
It was clear this exact thing would happen as soon as SSDs became commonplace.
SSDs are much less expensive than they were 5-10 years ago, but they're always way more than a hard disk.
I'm not paying for using my internet twice, I just won't lol
I feel the average mildly competent techfag does this. SSD for OS, games you play a lot or could use the loading boost, etc and HDD for large media files/stuff that doesn't require a lot of loading anyway.
Then again, people seem to be regressing in basic tech skills.
My family thinks I'm a tech wizard because whenever they have a issue, I come up and manage to do the thing they were trying to do without an issue or fix it after a bit of googling.
I don't even know how they were fucking up half the time, I can only guess they were doing it in some insane weird way that the devs didn't anticipate.
It's also annoying when they get shocked when they bring me something that's a decent amount of effort to fix like a laptop with a broken monitor and expect me to spend hours of my free time fixing it with no compensation. Like shit dude, at least offer to pay for the replacement parts and buy me lunch or something.
Not having to pay monthly for basic online play is what made me switch to PC when I had a bit of money in my teenage years. If they were hosting their own servers for the game and it ran well, I wouldn't be too upset but it's fucking retarded to make me pay to use a peer to peer connection for a CoD match or something.
Fug i thought I was just imagining it
I don't even know how they were fucking up half the time
I'm reminded of all the times my grandma managed to change the TV's language. What I'd give to know what menus she was fucking with and why.
Playing PS4 games on PS5 holy shit what an upgrade
Playing PS5 games on PS5
Where are the games
Try dual booting a Linux distro and compare how quickly it boots compared to Windows.
I got my first one last spring
not exclusively using only SSDs in your PC
HDDs at this point are for your NASes or whatever but are not needed in your rig directly.
It's windows, again. I don't doubt the devs being retards don't play a part but it's mostly windows. I switched back to a linux distro a some time ago and more often than not I load in faster than my friends running the game off the same SSD and there are a few games like shadow gens I didn't know had load screens until I went back to the windows partition.
workplace has a coin counting machine
coin counting machine works pretty well, but can occasionally jam but it's a easy fix 99% of the time, just pop it open, find the coin and remove it and reset it
if it ever jams, it tells you how to fix it by showing you images on the monitor where to open it with a little gif and the exact steps
coworker says he's having trouble fixing it and I come over
it basically just says "Jam clear. Please close the coin hatch completely and press the reset button."
he READS this sentence OUT LOUD to me, takes a second to process and tells me he's not sure what to do next
WHAT THE FUCK
YOU JUST READ IT. IN PERFECT ENGLISH. WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO NEXT? IT HAS A GIF OF A DUDE CLOSING THE HATCH AND PRESSING A BUTTON
because you're running windows XP sp3 with patches for compatibility and have it installed on a cassette tape, right?
kys
I don’t even put my porn folder on an hdd anymore, it’s just inferior
Then again, people seem to be regressing in basic tech skills.
It almost is funny. I would expect zoomers and people growing up with technology to be more knowledgeable about it than their grandparents, but some barely even know how to find their downloads folder on their PC.
I know the feeling. What annoys me even more is having people approach me every time they want to buy something. It does not matter if it is an airfryer, vacuum cleaner or garbage bin, they come to me first. It is similar to what you describe in the way that people can't even be bothered to look up something themselves.
It's also annoying when they get shocked when they bring me something that's a decent amount of effort to fix like a laptop with a broken monitor and expect me to spend hours of my free time fixing it with no compensation. Like shit dude, at least offer to pay for the replacement parts and buy me lunch or something
I personally do not mind if it is for family really, friends at least should treat me to a beer if they want to use me as tech support
It’s crazy that it only took a single console generation to go from paid online not being a thing at all, to it being the norm
It took 3. It started with the Xbox, then Sony dabbled with the idea of a non-mandatory subscription for the PS3 before adopting it fully for the PS4. Then Nintendo skipped the non-mandatory period entirely.
I hope I never have to experience the hell that is using Shitdows 10 and Visual Studio with an HDD. I was pulling my hair out by the time I finally decided to upgrade.
Well, the difference here would be in disk caching. Linux caches disk contents to RAM very aggressively: if you have 64 gigs of RAM, say, and are actively seeding five 12GB torrents, or playing a big game, Linux will use up the entirety of that 64 gigs by storing data once read from disk to RAM from where it can be accessed again more quickly. If you decide to open five hundred Chrome tabs and the system actually needs that memory then those cached pages are dropped instantly (after all, they're already in the disk, it's just faster to read them from RAM), but in normal operation it reduces latency and reading speeds. Really noticeable compared to HDDs (in which case latency alone might be perceptible, RAM vs SSD on the other hand is thousandfold difference but it's nanosecond vs microsecond so you couldn't tell), and it can be noticeable against SSDs if it's I/O bottlenecked rather than CPU bottlenecked.
NTFS is also a piece of shit
hardware gains are completely eclipsed by bloated software creep
browsing the four chans takes 8gb of ram or whatever
for fuck's sale
I'm in South Africa and we grew up with 1,2,3gb a MONTH caps. Eventually got 240kb/s uncapped lines, but still took me 4 days to download Blood Money. Whenever you went to a friend or family member you would always take your external with so you could swap what you have. Anyway that's all to say that even though we have decent, uncapped speeds today I still have PTSD and store everything on HDD's like an autist.
I would expect zoomers and people growing up with technology to be more knowledgeable about it than their grandparents
Zoomers suck ass with tech because they've grown up with apps and devices that give you almost no options and are designed to be braindead easy to use and to only be used the way the developers want you to use them. Late boomers and millennials grew up during the growth of the internet and computers where you still had to learn how to use it since it wasn't so streamlined, and devs weren't full on dystopian level where they dumb down everything and ultra lock down what you can do, therefore teaching everyone to be cattle. Same as games becoming more braindead and streamlined causes people to get worse at games and creates checklist movie games that you can't fail
I'm aware. I mean, I paid for 128 GB of RAM, my OS should use it and as anon said NTFS is shit.
They don't respect you, they just see you as a resource, and I don't blame them. Apparently your time is free. You're a doormat. Force them to compensate you in some way or just say no.
Minimum requirements
RTX 30....
Nta but that’s a very jewish mindset to have
Good thing i have a 4090 lol
Nintendo had free online on DS, Wii, Wii u, and 3DS. It was utter shit but it was free.
system requirements
CPU that supports AVX instructions
..50
If it's something relatively quick or easy, I don't mind helping family with hardware issues for computers/phones. But I've had them get mad at me for asking for money to pay for replacement parts even if I show them where I'm buying it from and telling them that I'm not trying to rip them off. Like dude, do you expect me to pay for the shit you broke? Come on now.
Honestly I only really will fix my parent's shit, anyone else has to at least be polite and offer me some lunch or I owed them a favor. I just honestly don't have time or energy for it.
Phones nowadays I don't really fuck around with and just recommend them going to a local tech repair shop because they've gotten very finnicky compared to older smart phones. I think Apple has gotten pretty anal with replacement parts but I haven't really had to mess with that shit in years.
Good thing i have a modern CPU lol
Unironically kys.
can't believe nintendo pulled the same shit as the other two. was really hoping they would keep it free, especially since their overall audience is much younger and broke lol
