Always been curious about the Metro series. I have a chance to get all three Metro games (2033 Redux, Metro: Last Light Redux and Metro Exodus Gold Edition with all DLC) for free.
Is it worth it? Or should I get something else? I would be playing this on PS4
Also is this like The Witcher situation where they're not really related to the books besides by name?
Thoughts?
I think 2033's regular version is better than the redux because they fucked with the AI and lighting, but redux is still alright and the other two are great games as well.
2033 is based off the book, albeit with a ton more combat, but the other two games completely branch off from the books (probably a good thing, considering 2034 and 2035 were terrible books)
Is the AI shooting at walls or something?
no, it just makes the stealth a lot easier like how it is in LL / exodus
I don't mind that I'm really bad at stealth in video games.
Is it wise in terms of story to play these in order or does each game take place from a different person's perspective and experience?
Is there any tips I should know before playing?
I reckon the games arr best played completely blind personally. It's important that you're immersed in the world and really feel the lack of resources, the game is really story driven and trying to game the system will just make it boring.
I don't know about that.
I mean if I'm supposed to be surviving, wouldn't knowing intel be crucial?
It's better than Stalker at least.
Get the originals if you can the remaster killed the soul and look worse than the originals.
All good games though.
I thought people liked Stalker
Nah. Like if you know the easy ways to cheese stealth missions or parts of the games that are scripted but don't seem like it, you'll just treat it all like a mechanical decision and not engage emotionally.
Ok well I can't get the originals for free.
I can get this bundle for free on PSN
almost bought the bundle when it was 5 dollarydoos, but left it in my cart and forgot about it. now its 14 bucks and im not going to buy it (i was never going to play them anyway)
I don't engage emotionally to games. I was raised in arcades sir.
2033 (original, not Redux) and Last Light are kino. Exodus is meh.
So what was the point in potenitally buying it if you didn't want to play it? Are you into game collecting/ preservation?
Nothing really wrong with the remaster, just that the originals look a lot better. They added lighting to the remaster which took away the original versions atmosphear.
I'm going to have to look up what the major difference is in redux because you're all acting like someone is putting ketchup on a chicago style hotdog.
no but my lil brain is like "WOW what a bargain"
Then play Stalker or something, anon.
I was just saying how everyone seems to like Stalker alot.
Also Stalker has nothing to do with my original question, at all, we're talking about Metro.
Oh ok, so you're a hoarder.
In order. It's a straightforward, connected trilogy.
Stalker has nothing to do with my original question, at all, we're talking about Metro.
I know, but Metro isn't worth playing if you're just going to zone out and not care about the story or characters. If you don't get attached to that aspect then the game is nothing but a bunch of random set pieces you don't care about.
Thanks
but Metro isn't worth playing if you're just going to zone out and not care about the story or characters.
Why not? I don't even care about people in real life. I'm a grown man.
If you don't get attached to that aspect then the game is nothing but a bunch of random set pieces you don't care about.
Yeah, it's a video game. Do you cry when a character dies? How old are you?
Why not?
Because long stretches of the game will be dialogue and character building that you'll apparently be staring out the window for while you complain to no one about walking cutscenes. Nothing that happens will matter at all because you don't even know any of the context or the events that lead there.
I'm definitely an adult
Yeah, it's a video game.
Okay, manchild,
2033 (original) > LL > Exodus
Still worth a playthrough desu senpai
playing shooters on a console
For what purpose?
He clearly wants an excuse to play his free games you spergs. They are great OP. I've only played through 2033 and Last Light myself a few weeks ago in preparation for Stalker 2 and had an amazing experience. They feel a bit like time capsules of late 2000s gameplay, but if you can handle that you are in for a ride. The story of both games is really good and 2033 has maybe the best pacing of any videogame I've ever played. It's a game made for that adventure essay shitposter and he should include it in his infographics should he decide to want to annoy people again.
Calls me manchild
Apparently cries when watching Bambi at his age
Pretty sure i know not to cry over pretend people kid.
For what purpose?
What do you mean?
Exodus ending is pure kino
Anon... it's a video game based on a book.
A BOOK
Lots of it is going to be people talking.
So? I can't skip it?
2033 is slop
Last Light is good
Exodus is... I'm kinda torn on Exodus honestly. The copy-pasted hair helmet child that inhabits the metro tunnels in droves unnerves me
exodus was great suck my nuts.
No
You should play the vanilla version of 2033 if you thought redux was slop.
As far as Exodus goes, its flawed but excellent. Its really meant to be played on the highest difficulty level. I appreciate the variety of environments, the game completely immersed me during covid lockdown and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
It could've gone without that one farcryesque level but still, really really good. Possibly the best gunplay to this day in vidya, AKs sound so visceral and ooze with oomph
Well that's a major turn off.
>>The copy-pasted hair helmet child that inhabits the metro tunnels in droves unnerves me
This little faggot really do be everywhere.
I did play the originals. The Redux was generally an improvement, I played the original 2033 when it came out and I fucking hated it. I enjoyed it slightly more once I came back to it years later however.
Most of it? Sure. If only because you're just walking past them, or doing something else while they talk.
Some things are unavoidable however.
And you quite literally get "penalized" for such behavior with the low karma endings if you do enough of it, and play the game like an FPS.
You must do more than act without any thought or doubt.
Comfy train conversations were the best part, you must hate sovl
ok i'm pretty turnd off by this now. Thanks for warning me.
Exodus > Last Light > 2033
2033 is a movie game, too many unskippable talking segments, and the gunplay is shit.
Last Light is more fun but still has some wonky gunplay but better than 2033's
Exodus has lot of content and more gameplay, and it's an excellent game overall
didn't play the redux versions
I have not nor would I ever make conversation on a train
Redux butchers the atmosphere, especially on the surface. The surface in the OG felt harsh and hostile. In Redux it feels warm and welcoming. Gunplay felt better in the OG too. And there's little things like certain animations (eg, the way the soldiers prepare while opening the vault doors leading to the surface) that are just cooler in the OG. Redux is still playable, I just felt the OG was a better experience.
Sure. Not every game is for every person. Find what's comfy for you.
2033 is slop
I saw a video showing the origibal vs redux changes.
I could care a less about the original look, doesn't mean shit to me.
I just wanted to walk around and shoot at weird mutants and monsters.
But now that I have learned this is just a unskippable movie game I don't want it anymore.
Yes. Last Light was the first good Metro game.
Cope.
The biggest thing I hated was how redux of 2033 completely fucks up the pacing of the game. You move faster, you loot faster (I really loved how in the OG you manually select ammo type/items off dead bodies chest rigs). It also added shitty ass instant takedowns which means you no longer need to rely on throwing knives and picking them back up.
literally the wrong way fucking round holy shit
sorry, I want a game that let me fucking play and not force me into "hurr durr speak with this drunkard broskie about why he misses fucking women everyday in the bar xDDDD"
Hurr the first game is always da best game fag detected
The whole goal of sequels is to be as good or even better than the first.
OG Artyom voice actor > Last Light voice actor.
Loading screen narrations in 1 were comfy and I enjoyed them a lot, they bridged the gap between missions. In 2 it was like an obnoxiously fake accent
