I'm about to play this for the first time, any advice
I'm about to play this for the first time, any advice
Cancel the install and request a refund
don't
Don't
Realise that it is slow to start, but eventually you will be running faster and rarely missing your attacks. Even in Seyda Neen though you can begin to notice the excellent worldbuilding and good quest design.
dl fortnite instead ong frfr
use openMW
have fun jogging around until you get to the place they have sent you for the quest and some ghost of a vampire throws a nuclear explosion at your face
this game sucks my dick, don't say I didn't warn you
Don't run it and request a refund. I played it for the first time last year, since so many people shilled it here. I tried really hard to get into it, but it just isn't too fun.
yeah uninstall that janky shit
When the wizard falls from the sky, use his scroll and jump.
DO NOT PLAY MORROWIND BASE. IF YOU EVEN THINK OF LAUNCHING THAT SHIT FROM STEAM YOU SHOULD BE EXECUTED.
Captcha:G0DS
Use both a weapon and magic, it's the most fun way to play Morrowind.
Make your class.
Take speed so it is at least 50.
You need to walk to retain stamina.
You are more likely to miss and miscast, fail to break locks, fail to enchant, fail to use alchemy, pretty much anything, at zero stamina.
The silt strider can take you to Balmora, but I recommend walking and clearing dungeons on the way for xp.
Steal everything in the census office where you make your class, the book shelf to the right of the census officer has a ton of decent priced loot.
When you steal it, a guard will come at you, immediately drop everything and the guard won't confiscate it. Then pick it all back up, you can sell it.
Take Fargoth's ring. If you give it back to him, your rep with the town merchant will go up and you will be able to sell shit for more.
Longsword is objectively the best.
Magic is completely broken.
If you hate this game so much why did you make it sound really awesome when you described it, I mean jesus I LIKE the game and you made it sound cooler than it actually is.
This is literally soul. No handholding, pure adventure and discovery.
Steal everything
t. n'wah
They're gonna call you one anyway, might as well lean into it
Pick the sign of the horse so you can move faster
sorry brother, the game sucks eggs
Needs too many mods, but if you choose to play without mods, build a character with a high stat in at least one weapon skill and use that weapon at the beginning, otherwise you are going to be missing a lot. Aim for level 45-60 minimum. You can usually achieve this with Dark Elf with major skill in Long Blades.
Filtered faggot
Get MGE XE or OpenMW so you can see past your nose. This is one of those games you should mod on your first playthrough.
1) THE COMBAT. IS NOT. GOOD. Get that through your thick dense skull first and foremost. It is serviceable at best, and straight up retarded at worst. If you're going into this thinking it's just like Oblivion and Skyrim, which has much better combat, you are going to be PAINFULLY disappointed and not even get to Balmora.
2) This is a ROLE PLAYING GAME. You are an outlander in Morrowind, a strange almost alien landscape, fulfilling a prophecy you had no idea you were a part of, and what makes Morrowind so great, is how well you are immersed in this world.
3) Unless your major skill is in short blade, do NOT use the fucking dagger on the table in the tutorial area. I can't tell you how many brain dead retards shit on Morrowind, saying it's combat sucks, when they make a long blade character, use that fucking dagger, and realizing they can't hit shit with it.
4) Come to think of it, stealth sucks too. You can go the stealth archer route, but again for the billionth fucking time, the combat is not good, and you won't have much fun with it.
5) READ EVERYTHING! This game will NOT hold your tiny soft baby hands around by the nose, you have to read your journal and follow the directions.
6) No easy fast travel. No, you don't open your map, pick a spot, and fast travel, it does not work that way. There is fast travel options, but again, they won't be easy.
7) Use OpenMW.
Steal that grand soul gem just laying around in that first town shop or something and sell it. Then make a touch spell that does op damage in a 1’ radius. Beat the game.
download and use openmw
way overated. ugly. stretched maps.
fight for stormcloaks in TES V again like a man
THE COMBAT. IS NOT. GOOD.
I've already played through BG1/2, the pathfinder games, NWN, some Avernus games, and planescape
Morrowind can't be worse than early rtwp crpg combat
I'll look into the mods people recommend though
Use openMW and if anyone tells you not to you know that you are being lied to and start blowing your rape whistle immediately lest you be diddled
You mean Avernum? If you can tolerate those games you'll like Morrowind just fine.
if you see flying dinosaurs coming at you, you dun goofed
Avernum
Yea
/thread
Seriously don't look up fucking anything ever. The game becomes boring as fuck as soon as you become powerful enough to trivialize the difficulty which is VERY EASY to do.
Just build a character that invests heavily into your combat skill of choice so you start off actually able to kill stuff and go in blind from there.
Oblivion and Skyrim, which has much better combat
all three games have the most boring combat system ever imagined
Yeah I genuinely prefer kiting to tapping right click after every few left clicks. They're all terrible, the only thing better about the combat in Oblivion and Skyrim is the stealth, which is also too easy in Skyrim.
He boughted!
Install OpenMW and just play the game however you want.
Play oblivion instead and install a mod to make quest reward items scale with you as you level up
Stealth is still too shit in Oblivion.
yeah, just wait for the remake
Come to think of it, stealth sucks too
Yeah, stealth in Morrowind is useless and basically doesn't work until all of a sudden it does at high skill levels. That or you just use Chameleon and invalidate the skill entirely.
jogging around until you get to the place they have sent you for the quest and some ghost of a vampire throws a nuclear explosion at your face
ok i have to play it now
whatever weapon type you plan on using, make sure the skill associated with it is at least 40 when you start out. skills below 40 are pretty worthless until 40 in general. almsivi and divine intervention spells/items, silt striders, boats, and the guild guides in the mages guild are your best friends for getting around. picking steed for your birth sign is typically a good option, especially for beginners not used to moving slow.

Use OpenMW. You don't need anything else on your first playthrough.
Install all of TR and be even more overwhelmed.
