I'm playing Sonic Heroes right now on Dolphin and it is running greatly. Fuck. I had a PS2 when I was a kid and I never realized I was playing such an inferior version. The game is kinda shit, though, it's not bad but it is boring.

Most new games that release on PC barely run on Steam Deck.
I doubt it will be able to run a switch 2 emulator in two years without chugging considerably considering switch 2 is far more powerful than switch 1.

I'm honestly considering buying Switch 2 for SC2 online play (and for completing some cheap digital indies that I bought and never played back when I had a Switch), but I have my doubts if multiplayer in this version actually becomes popular enough for it to be worth it. If it is, I'll happily pay Nintendo $500 for not having to use Discord to play this game. I really hate that platform and its userbase.

If it couldn't, you wouldn't see Nintendo trying to do it. The only selling point of the Switch 2 is brought to you entirely by the emulation community that Nintendo has spent decades mercilessly punishing. This will not be an in-house solution, just an existing emulator set up for every ROM with the bells and whistles stripped from it. Let that sink in.

Based and same. NTA, but Soul Calibur 2 has so much depth to its combat if you really want to dig in, but also a ton of solo content that will keep you busy for a long time. It's really great for casual play as you learn the game. I basically used Weapon Master Mode as my training mode, but it's a completely separate campaign from the main story/arcade. I've moved on to Sophitia as my main, but Talim was my go-to for a long time since she was fast and easy to use.

It's not matchmaking. You have to invite people like every other nso game.

SC2 HDO breaks graphics effects in certain stages and the only way to play with Japanese voices is to use the Japanese version .pkg where all of the text is also in Japanese and O is used to confirm and X to cancel. Oh, and it doesn't have Link as the guest character and has both Heihachi and Spawn instead. Also, fewer people play it online than the Gamecube version through Dolphin.

Soul Calibur was impressive for two reasons:
1) It was a home port that actually looked way better than the arcade game, to the point that people nowadays don't even remember the arcade version at all. It immediately made the PS1 and N64 look outdated with its visuals at a solid 480p60. The closest thing you could even put next to it is Tekken 3, and even that game isn't anywhere as good looking.
2) It was a launch game for a new console, which up until then meant that games graphically wouldn't be too impressive as developers learned to use the hardware, yet it made even Sonic Adventure, the flagship title for the Dreamcast, look tame by comparison.

I'm going to be very upset if there isn't some way to do gamecube-gba link on the gamecube games. Especially with wind waker, that was one of the better implementations of the feature. Some of my fondest memories are going coop with that nearly the whole game.

I don't have hype for this stuff compared to some people because NSO wasn't that great, but all things considered it ran "good enough" besides the N64 glitches that they patched out. And frankly the Switch was a piece of shit system so I'm surprised it even ran N64 as relatively well as it did.
Meanwhile with Youtube compression in mind, the Treehouse footage was definitely not 480p for resolution.

easily my biggest problem. i fucking loved the old classics eshop style thing back in the wii and 3ds, but they axed all of that entirely in favor of the subscription model. it's easily most of why the switch was a fart in the wind for me, the whole thing is a damn piss take. you don't get extra money from the monthly subscription just for selling me usable online, nintendo, let me buy some of these games individually and just load them up in the damn service even if offline.

Just release a PlayStation Classic application for PS5 that has all of the current PS1 and PS2 and PS3 and PSP games from PSN in it. Even if it doesnt auto download them in advance like the Switch it would still be good to just have them all listed there in one application and let people click on them to download them rather than them all being spread around the PlayStation Store.
