How much will you pay to upgrade?

How much will you pay to upgrade?
It should be free if you akready own the game imho... like most PS4 to PS5 games.

I already beat both of those.

Answers the question for us

What a pointless thread.

I already have an online account, so I won't pay more for those. I still pay them in a way, but whatever.
Also, have they said anything about a Xenoblade X upgrade patch? How in the FUCK is it not one of the first games concerned by this.

everything about the switch 2 seems like a huge waste of money. disappointed in nintendo lately

EA, Activision, and Take Two have entered the chat

like most PS4 to PS5 games.

Yeah, most. But they still charge you on some depending on how they feel anyway so it's nothing new unfortunatly.
I'm not even sure where this even started.

if it comes with an actual expansion of significant new content: like ~$15

if it's just graphical enhancements: nothing and fuck Nintendo

nothing, it's free if you have an NSO account and I'm white so I have one

it started when corpos realized they can just sell the same game from last generation for 3 generations and gamers will continue to buy it
it hardly exists on pc though where it does it's literally a retarded paid patch that should have been free and people still buy it

not more than 10

I already own Breath of the Wild on Wii U, and it feels very swan song of the console so I will keep it there. I am excited to finally play Tears of the Kingdom so I will buy a Switch 2 and the version exclusive.

im only getting kirby, since i get botw/totk with nso expansion pack

BotW and TotK get the upgrade with no extra charge if you pay the online sub, which I do. So I wouldn't pay for them, but I don't really plan on replaying them anyway as they're too long and I don't have time for that.
Apparently a lot of games DO get a free upgrade going from Switch to Switch 2. What that entails we'll have to find out.

I'm hoping for 4K Mario Odyssey and Pokemon Scarlet actually running at a functional framerate.

they're not that long, they have massive replayability compared to previous entries. they aren't bogged down in story shit, and you can skip what you didn't enjoy the first time through. I'm actually flabbergasted that these games dont strike you as "forever games" that you return to frequently just because they're fun to play around in.

It should be free if you akready own the game imho... like most PS4 to PS5 games.

It is anon
The upgrade that costs money is basically a season pass and additional features, something Sony usually charges full price for and calls it a "remaster"

I'm sorry you had to go through that.

Too few enemies and weapons.

So the smart move if I haven't bought TotK and am bumming the family membership off a friend is to just buy the Switch 1 version now and get the free upgrade?

"hmm $70 seems a bit much for Tears of the Kingdom, I'll wait for the Switch 2 first, surely the game would see a price cut by then"

the game cost more now

mpv-shot0001.jpg - 426x320, 23.85K

exactly $0
I never care about graphics. These games were great, but I already played them to death
I'm good

NOTHING
ZERO
FUCK ALL

I just spent 2017-2025 playing this shit on and off, are you fucking insane??

I have NSO so I get upgrades for nothing. Feels good.

The beautiful sum of 0

yes

$0, these are busywork games, there is no reason to ever replay them

You won't get the ones that add new content like Jamboree or Kirby.

Idm paying 10 dollars or whatever. Done this with other games on pc and stuff and some games i wish had an upgrade feature like Bloodborne(one of the few games not supported by the ps5 upgrade thing). Thank fuck they made SV upgrade free though that deserves every update they can give for free

You're paying extra because it runs at 60fps instead of 30 now. That's double the frames and you're lucky they don't double the cost because of that.

there's more enemy variety if you look for them, all the enemies have variants, and they have a hundred different behaviors

I never played BotW more than like 1 hour and never touched TotK at all.
I'd get them for a discount but I've never been much of a Zelda fan and I can't justify paying full price for them.
I could totally buy them for about $40 w/upgrade included but that's about it.

just pirate

I'm not interested enough to go through that hassle either

I would absolutely call it a "forever game" if I replayed games. I used to replay games all the time. But now my backlog is actually going to crush me to death, I simply can't justify spending another month or so playing a game I've already played, especially when I did almost everything there is to do in that game.
I do think they're fantastic games and especially so for people who like to replay games, I just simply can't partake.

Just an FYI - BotW and TotK upgrade packs are included with Switch Online. So for those of you that have an online sub you don't need to pay for the packs for those two.

No, this isn't a defense of Nintendo or some shit. Just a PSA.

I feel that. I've wanted to replay BotW for a while now, but I'm inbetween a dozen games and anticipating TotK on Switch 2

If the upgrade is more than 10 dollars its cooked.

How do I go about upgrading my TotK NSP to a Switch 2 NSP?

To be perfectly honest, I would only upgrade if I were to replay the game. I wouldn't be happy but if it's $10 then yeah if I'm going to replay it I'd like to play it in the best way possible. I'd do it if I wanted to replay BOTW which I think I will but it'll be free with NSO so it's all good. Now $20 I'd only pay if it had DLC, which if that's what Kirby's upgrade costs I'll get it, seems like a fair price if I get new levels. But of course I would only do that for game I care about, I like Mario Party but I won't be buying the camera for some mini games so that DLC is worthless to me.

It's actually insane that they didn't even do anything, it's all just AI upscaling from Nvidia + decade-old cut content from the Wii U, but they're still locking this behind a paywall.

It's free if you pay for a different scam instead, wow, what a deal. Paid online is anti-consumer too.

I'm so jealous of the ones that get to have their first play through be at 60fps

So will data actually be read from the cart and the upgrade pack is a dlc or the "upgrade pack" is just the switch 2 version download and the cart is just there for DRM?
