Could this be the most innovative controller Nintendo’s ever made or just another useless gimmick no one ends up using?
Mouse JoyCon
depends on how easy it is to use in a natural setting for a console
It's stupid. Who the fuck wants to be hunched over their coffee table while gayming? There's a reason PC gaming is considered retarded and I'm sad that this mouse garbage is becoming standard on consoles
it's a mouse, not very innovative
If you wave your mouse around an imaginary mousepad it's not so bad.
useless gimmick
how could it be? it continues their anti aim assist push that started with gyro, this is where you can see despite all their posturing Anon Babble doesn't care about videogames and are about as hardcore as wii fit players, nintendo has done more for advancing console controls with the switch systems than every other console manufacturer
How many home consoles actually use a mouse as a controller?
yeah nintendo is ironically the best console for shooters cause of motion/gyro aiming
It is always funny to read people shitting on gyro because they couldn't hit shit with it, they don't realize it is because they are too used to games playing themselves with aim assist.
PCtrannies in shambles
I don't care
SNES, Megadrive, PS1 and N64 all did.
There is no "natural setting" for the Switch. The living room experience is quickly dying out in everywhere but the US, everyone I know has their Switch hooked up to their PC monitors on their PC desk.
A joycon on its side doesn't seem ergonomic in the very least.
I'm sure there will be plenty of housing accessories that mimic the body of a mouse, if anything I was expecting it to be shows by Nintendo instead of the wheels.
They look even more uncomfortable to use as a mouss then they do as controllers
It's the same as holding it normally, you just rotate your forearm 90 degrees so it's facing in a different direction.
Gyro is on every system and isn't really that useful for most actual FPSes. Controller will always be the best due to the existence of aim assist
guys, they stole my thing
How many games actually support it, though?
yeah but aim assist is gay and it's almost like auto aim. I'd rather use motion aiming
Not many but some. Command and Conquer on the PS1 and Mario Paint on Nintendo plus some others.
nice, I can already see third party attachments to make using it as a mouse more comfortable
I don’t think so
However an analogue stick combined with mouse aim is pretty cool
I'd rather
See now you're talking about your preferences. You said that it makes it "the best" system for FPSes. So what you really meant to say is that it's the best system for shooters, according to your taste.
did anyone here go to one of these events to try it?
I think just a ring like the one they have for gliding with a palm rest attached would be enough
I played WoW classic on my couch with one of these in left hand and mouse in the other
Yeah, you don’t need the keyboard
This despite how weak the switch is it's the console I use for shooters. Mainly old school and ports of old games so it's still working flawlessly on this weak ass tablet.
Still waiting for blood fresh supply on switch you fuckers.
it's time
most innovative
Naw nigga it's just a retarded itty bitty mouse held in a stupid pinch grip where you're struggling to juggle the forward face buttons with your right thumb while your right index is on the joycon R. The two other consoles by comparison support real mice and keyboard peripherals, and for the likely price of a single joycon2, you could have gotten yourself a very nice mouse in that $50-80 price range
You still need a desk retard which defeats entire purpose of playing on console ever.
Yep, agreed. Around the world, living rooms are going extinct. No one has a living room anymore. No one uses TVs anymore. The TV is quickly going the way of the radio, it's just not around anymore outside the US. In fact, Nintendo needs to replace the HDMI with DisplayPort because basically no one outside of America needs it.
I used a keyboard when playing MHGU on the Switch. Why are you guys underselling the versatility of a single control scheme lets you play traditionally or mouse style?
the difference with your retarded pajeet setup is that you can seamlessly switch (huehue) from a traditional stick control style to mouse controls just by flipping the controller on the side, no need for menuing
and of course you have gyro all that time too, just a superior list of options all around
It'll go the way of most Nintendo gimmicks. Used once or twice properly by some big titles at launch and then forgotten about thereafter by everybody. Also you'll get games run well for like 2 years and then everything will run at 15fps again for the next 7 years until switch 3. This ain't my first rodeo
I dont think you can emulate snappy touch screen controls that KI:U had with a mouse though
you can seamlessly switch (huehue) from a traditional stick control style to mouse controls just by flipping the controller on the side, no need for menuing
That's exactly how it works on PC but you're obviously ipad baby retard who never used technology made for actual adults.
just put it on your knee
It looks super awkward to use as a mouse. But I assume someone will make a 3rd party normal looking mouse.
It's funny Switch became the perfect gta machine solving the issue of switching between driving / shooting and most likely it won't get a port of gta 5 / 6
Nintendo will jump through insane hoops instead of just releasing their games on pc
on PC the controller and the mouse are two different things
When I was young my neighbor had a Wii with a gun attachment for a zombie game, and the shit you could do with that felt like it was straight out of a movie.
how can it be "exactly" like that you retarded brownoid, that'd imply your controller is also your mouse lmao
average third worlder IQ: 65
PS1 had more mouse games than switch 2 will ever have games overall. It's simply not a gimmick conductive to console gaymin.
en.wikipedia.org
So basically no one outside the US streams content on a TV?
sounds good on paper, but wow, it'll quickly be uncomfortable as holding something with this shape seems really shitty, especially if you've got big hands
That looks arthritis inducing
The ergonomics look retarded.
if I'm sitting at a desk, and using a mouse at a deskpad, wouldn't I just be using a computer?
I thought tendies whole argument for why I shouldn't pirate their games was that their tablet and controllers were more soulful?
no? the games shit themselves when switching inputs, showing incorrect glyphs and good luck seamlessly grabbing the controller and then grabbing the mouse and positioning your hand on the keyboard.
PC games configured both for MNK and Controller which can be switched between just by picking up either option. You don't need to reconfigure a game and change inputs manually.
How does this work for lefties if the left joycon buttons are farther away than the right joycon buttons? Is this another "fuck lefties" situation?
you still have to grab another peripheral and configure the controls in the first place, which isn't the same thing here as it's seamless with one controller out of the box
keep coping ranjeet
more games should have flick stick.
I'm not sitting at a desk after coming home from sitting at a desk all day.
It's your parent's fault for not correcting your disability
and good luck seamlessly grabbing the controller and then grabbing the mouse and positioning your hand on the keyboard
Are you one of those informercial people who injure themselves doing routine everyday tasks?
No need to emulate it when they can simply remake a superior experience
Less than 10% of switch users are sat at a desk or table, I do not understand why they’re creating whole games around this
On PC, it depends on the game. It's a wild west out there of whether a game will react to swapping input devices just fine, or refuse it, or require extra steps to use it.
Looks like it would get pretty straining after awhile, but what could be interesting is if its also using gyro here. Like what if you could still control your aim anytime you have to lift your mouse? It could make it easier to shoot airborne enemies if you could just lift your mouse and use it like a pointer, especially if have lower sensitivity and have to really swipe forward to look up. Sounds like forced innovation but gyro aim can feel super precise
Having options is a good thing
record yourself doing it and playing for a good amount, let's see how comfortable it is
it is using gyro
can't you faggots at least watch 5 minutes of demonstration before running your mouth
The usecase seems so extremely niche I don't know why they would bother.
I will instead record myself making passionate love to your mother. Expect a new sibling soon.
I said it's the best for consoles, which it is. Unless mouse aiming becomes a regular thing
it opens the console up for games that use a mouse like rts and city builders and stuff, but that's as far as its utility goes imo because for anything else it's too cumbersome to use.
Nope I'm a busy man. Inhale my dong
It doesn't look like it would be very comfortable to use as a mouse. And instead of just sliding it, you need to do a really uncomfortable-looking twisting motion.
will third parties like Hori release a normal looking mouse for Switch?
I don't see why not.
you're a worthless shitposter living here
tongue my anus
This option will give you wrist pain in less than 15 minutes. Even Apple magic mouse has better ergonomics than this crap. Why do you think PC gamers are so picky about their peripherals?
ok faggot, thanks for proving you are wrong
I agree it’s good for a game like Civ 7 where you can use controller but also have the option of a mouse, a game like that you could probably just use the mouse on the arm of the couch, but if they make more games like the wheelchair basketball one there is no option, you have to have a table in front of you
i-it'll be painful dear sir ouchy wrist do not buy!!!
lmao
visajeets panicking
A mouse, but worse
Nintendies will eat up anything.
I’ll just put it on my chairs arm
The keyboard is the issue
Because you could sell them literally anything that has LEDs and a marketing gimmick attached to it. PCfags unironically pay more to have fewer keys on their keyboard.
I unironically saw someone play the entire demo of the wheelchair game by using both mouse joycons on his thighs and he said it worked perfectly
Says the guy that wants me to lick the poopy from his starfish
I think he needs more jewelry.
I could see how my hand would get cramps because it's so tiny but I bet someone will make an aftermarket thicc grip
I'm getting a cramp just watching people use that thing.
What else should I record for you, retard? Sitting on a chair with a bowl of popcorn without spilling it? Opening a soda bottle without giving myself brain damage? Is this what passes for porn in the land of infomercial retards? Normal people doing normal things?
Can't you just support mouses in USB-C natively, and offer the option for other mouses?
The Switch already technically supported regular USB mice, a handful of games could be played mouse/keyboard. It's just up to Nintendo not being Jewish and allowing you to play that way.
keep malding faggot
Hurr durr it's innovative because you can switch (le Carlos.png) on the fly!
How 'bout that STICK DRIFT, Nintentroons?
B-But they said they addressed the concerns!
Hal-effect sticks weren't mentioned in the patient.
Tablets and phones are vastly more used for streaming than TVs elsewhere.
That's definitely a tranny
The cripplebots b-ball bullshit looks so awkward to play.
This is for all these amazing point and click adventures that keep coming out these days. Oh wait
Its ok.
Just wait for the Nintendo Branded Mario Lap Desk for the low price of 249.99
I rather they make this for the switch2, if I want to play with a mouse I use my pc or steamdeck
how do i get a tranny gf to play switch2 with if i live outside of the city and cant drive to anime or nintendo cons
so mindbroken Anon Babbletrannies unironically shit on obvious progress in terms of controls
nintendo derangement syndrome is real
The only reason I don’t play my Wii anymore is because I have to hook up all this shit to get it working and for some reason, my cat loves biting its tiny cable. I’d much rather have a console with minimal setup. I still have PS3 and Xbox360 plugged in.
A pair of candles works just as well.
wouldnt you want to be able to use a normal mouse at that point?
Here's the secret: Nintendo won't let you use a regular mouse.
G Pro is pretty comfy, but I prefer the Viper. Do you have small hands or something?
You still use the buttons (which are now on the side of the joycon) while playing
you can already use a standard USB mouse with the switch
I think you use the shoulder button like a mouse click so that should be the same on both sides. As for the direction buttons on the left they do look like they will be difficult to use in mouse mode, so similarly so will be using the right stick for the same reasons.
A normal mouse can't instantly switch into a controller and back again.
Not a single footage of this doesn't look cramp inducing and inaccurate. Just another bad gimmick.
Retard.
you can already use a standard USB mouse with the switch
You think Nintendo would allow people to do that when they're trying to shill their new controllers?
why not just point at the screen
Bitch got hairy arms.
Keep in mind it is being used by a mong.
I just hope they release Mario Paint as a SNES online title
when they're trying to shill their new controllers?
If that was their intent, how come switch 1 controllers still work in switch 2 games?
You said that about wiimotes too.
concession and dilation accepted
It won't be able to use the new gimmicks.
That's an option too but the point is to showcase the mouse control.
Because pointing at the screen sucks.
In what cases would mouse control be superior than just good old wagglan pointan?
NINTENDO JUST INVENTED A MOUSE.
TIME TO SUE MOUSE HAVERS.
my wrist hurts just looking at that
these people are now saying using a mouse is going to give them arthritis
you think they could hold their arms in the air for longer than 30 seconds?
I don't understand why they went with a mouse rather than simply reintroduce the IR pointer, which was the greatest innovation of the Wii.
I have long advocated for the single-hand gamepad + mouse combo.
I unironically hope the Switch2 popularises this.
Every single one of them, had this actually been a mouse and not a crude mockery of human engineering's perfection.
Lefties use mouse in the same hand as righties usually
The middle part of that controller destroys fucking everything and I hate it because I'd love it otherwise.
because gaymers still have ptsd from wii cooties, I would love pointer controls to come back, optional ofc, gyro only isn't the same.
Consoles are getting one step closer every day to simply addopting keyboard and mouse. They know its the best solution to many games, they just dont want to admit it.
because having to hook up a sensor bar (or 2 candles) undermines the pick-up-and-play portability of the switch. Although I'm baffled they've been shilling the webcam so hard which has the same problem.
undermines the pick-up-and-play portability of the switch
...and 2 joycons that you have to place on a large surface don't?
you can use your thigh, unironically
Shit setup. The best part of keyboard/mouse is having a large number of inputs available to your left hand. A gimped gamepad doesn't offer nearly enough.
They arent selling the surface (yet) so not their problem.
Where do you place the switch then? Your dick?
I was hoping the camera info about it being used to improve motion tracking was real much like ps4 / ds4 with the camera.
Dock it like you normaly would?
I don't understand the question
Some games just don't work with the IR pointer and the gyro isn't accurate enough. A mouse is still the best way to play.
Mouse, but a joystick on a side. Would that work?
I played WoW
why
Obvously turn the controllers upside down. 180 degrees.
All the gimmicks in the world dont hold up to a simple mouse. We tried them all. Mouse always comes on top. Time to accept and addapt to the winner.
Keyboards suck for movement.
They're amazing for having tons of keys, but when the number of keys aren't necessary for games, then gamepads are absolutely better than keyboards. Add the precision of mouse controls and you've got a winning combo.
We're talking about portability here and you just flipped it around to docking it.
If you're gonna be docking it, what's the problem with a sensor bar? It can just be connected to the dock and stay there for good.
These things don't work. Either the mouse is just emulating stick inputs, or the control stick is emulating keyboard presses. Feels like garbage either way
We're talking about portability here
Huh? But that contradicts the use of IR pointer controls as well, surely? I'm not sure you've been following this conversation anon.
switch on tabletop mode requires a small table like you can find in planes and trains
certainly not a "large surface"
3rd person action games - use controller
FPS - use kb+m
Shrimple as. Dont get stuck on one thing, but use the right tool for the job.
True Wii lover tapes the wires or teaches cat to chew sonething else.
Extremely appealing, the only issue I have with it is the fact that I need to use the dogshit joycon on my left hand. Depending on how well they fit in my hand after the enlargening I might just go with a pro controller.
Ok, I'll spell it out for you and take the obvious bait
I'm not saying that a sensor bar doesn't undermine the portability of the switch.
I'm saying the mice shit as a replacement doesn't either.
So you can give me the "technically you could, because you could remove the joycons, put the switch on tabletop mode... somewhere? and use the little shits on your lap. But you brought it to docking it, so not even that.
Neither is good for portability. One method is technically "portable" but awkward as shit. Are you going to carry around a tray or something?
I dont get the complaints that ising WASD is bad for movement. Back in the day everyone used d-pad for movement and it was good. Joysticks are a meme.
pcjeets reject the progress of analog controls
why are pcfags so against better controls?
But then you have a shitty surface for your little micecons.
If I see some gay ass grown adult, man or woman, play like this on a fucking train I'm going to genuinely lose my shit.
Keyboards are unironically better for precise movement. There are few situations where full analog control is beneficial.
It's literally strictly inferior to gyro in this form factor so idk what the fuck they were thinking.
Gyro feels more intuitive, breaks down the barrier between player and player character, doesn't require a fucking desk in front of you... Superior in every way. I can't believe they removed the Gyro aim from the Prime remasters for this garbage. The only time you still get to use Gyro is in door puzzles where you have to shoot 4 switches.
Sure, anon, go ahead and sperg out on public transport and get yourself thrown out.
looks like it's shit
Do PCfags actually believe this or are they just trolling? I can't really tell.
Thankfully it will never happen because I've never seen a single person use the switch in tabletop mode to begin with.
that mouse looks so unbelievably ergonomic, any kid who gets the thought to start playing FPS seriously on this thing is going to start developing hand cramps before 25
Looks arthritis inducing
I'm going to genuinely lose my shit.
you're not going to do anything lmao
no I take it back, you're going to immediately go on 4chin to shitpost about tendies
I don't think you could do stuff accurately like counterstraffing in CS with a stick.
I do agree that sticks are more ergonomic though.
*unergonomic
me when i say the opposite thing of what I meant
This is the main appeal for me, that is having a controller that has a joystick/buttons, gyro aim, and mouse support all in one.
I fear chargers in Splatoon.
It's in 4K
It's a gimmick and an embarrassingly pathetic attempt to appeal to PC-Switch Idorts, especially since they allow 1440p as a res when PCfags always gloat about it being THE defacto res unless you're a 1080pleb.
It's entirely pointless outside of shooters and whatever other motion control gimmicks that were shown off during the Direct for 3rd parties because they'd be retarded to include it as an option for 3D games since the basic convenient function of it is for controlling the camera when this has less buttons than a keyboard.
Ah yes, """but muh innovation""". Sure thing, retards, but this has 0 practical uses outside Gyro already working perfectly fine for both PC and consolefags, so you console niggers can stop acting like this is God's gift to gaming when you're just being an insecure Tendie.
PS4 has m/k support, just plug it in.
That's a man
i meant aiming with it
Like said, most advanced movement tech in shooters ranges from unwieldy to impossible on a stick.
I've got my TV/Switch setup across from my bed, so I just sit on my bed to play. It's kind'a hard to imagine using a mouse like that.
Hopefully it doesn't become this generation's "waggle" with every game forced to include it for the sake of doing so.
I wish I could give an opinion but the direct barely showed anything to be hyped about. Hell people are more excited for having a mouse playable port of Civ7 than crippleball or whatever other small shit they demoed the mouse for.
Most games that would benefit from mice are first person shooters. In those you want precise movement, not analog movement. We're not playing fucking racing games here or Super mario 64. You need to be able to switch from left to right and right to left quickly. It's like arguing that analog sticks are better for classic platformers. Do you know why the meme known as hitboxes got so popular? Do you know why people avoid analog sticks on fighting games? Or analog sticks to aim? Or analog sticks to even fucking move a cursor? They're just generally inaccurate and not always useful.
Right. Because this is a overall viable and better control scheme. Dunderhead.
most games with advanced movement tech require you to have instant inputs that a stick isn't great at. Not even just that, though. One of the fundamentals of most arcadey shooters is moving erratically to dodge some of the fire- what do you think is better for that, a stick, or instantly being to swap directions with buttons?
from what little i've played of shit like team fortress and quake on steam deck a stick is not a superior option to wasd
yeah, enjoy your fucked up hand bro
Just as one example, pretty much zero (or it might be zero) top players for Hades play with KB. Stick is far, far better.
The game looks boring as fuck desu. I thought for sure they'd do something special for 4 but it just looks like "content", similar to Prime 3.
i played Hades on WASD and it felt pretty precise to me. what about it is better
just use the giroscope to aim like splatoon. This looks fucking retarded
Sooters are the most popular games lately. Time fo addapt gramps, your bing bing wahoo colectaton days are over.
I'm hoping someone makes a full-sized mouse shell for this, I don't doubt it'll be a big hit but from the webm it looks like it's a little awkward to hold for long periods of time.
Anecdotes don't count.
don't use a mouse, just waggle your controller around in front of you, the control scheme that you can't bring up to people without complaints that it looks stupid
any attempt to make controller players use mouse and keyboard is welcome to me 2bh
Joysticks are a late 90s gimmick, but it takes up less space than 5 buttions on a controller, so it stuck.
Gyros, joysticks, etc. Suck at precise aiming.
So, will tendies finally admit that keyboards are also superior to gamepads once Nintendo reveals the bingboard for the Switch 3?
did you mean in the reverse then with hades?
Most left hadn people still use the mouse with their right
They are already about to be assimilated, they just dont know it yet.
I think the killer app will be that it can be completely seamless to switch between control styles. if you want to flick a shot or something really quick, you can just use your pant leg for a moment and then go back to aiming with the stick.
t. boomer with arthritis
No way a tendie called a joystick a gimmick. I have to lie down nowYes
Of course they will, wherever the Nintendo wind blows, they go.
They used to play motion controls were better during the Splatoon days.
t. Zoomer that never held a mouse in his hands.
Get off the phone
if its as good as a mouse then yeah, that's a really nice innovation
no one ever argued gyro was better than mouse just that it was vastly superior to sticks, which it is
btw pcjeets should thank nintendo for popularizing it with splatoon since you later adopted it for your memegames
The tech for gyros and sticks just is not as precise technically when compared to mouse. They are too inprecise when it comes to quick, split second precission movements. Only mouse fits that role.
Shittiest mouse ever
Guys think of the possibilities with the WiiU gamepad!
Guys think of the possibilities with Amiibos!
Guys think of the possibilities with the joycons!
Guys think of the possibilities with Nintendo Labo!
Guys think of the possibilities with the Switch2 mouse controls!
not true. You just got use to play with the mouse and refuse to adapt. You are old and grumpy
That looks extremely uncomfortable and my wrist hurts just by looking at it
gimmick
gimmick
gimmick
gimmick
copying the supperior device
The ergonomics are shit compared to real mouse, but atleast they tried.
In this age of accessibility it is hard to imagine a mandatory X, not even on ps5 all the games implement the fancy triggers nor haptics.
looks hella uncomfortable, and that is why vr failed and will never catch on. just another shitty gimmick.
They could've just add external mouse support and it would be the same.
You can mod it to run off of a 9V battery and a 100 ohm resistor, you can easily do it by stripping the sensor bar cable back and attaching its red wire to positive and its orange wire to negative, and have the battery installed with a snap connector. Really that's all the sensor bar needs, a source of power to turn the lights on.
Don't bother with any third party wireless sensor bars, they don't work as good as the real thing because they use shitty inferior LEDs and always come with a smaller usable field.
You got used to precise, immediate movements and not gyros with ton of input latency
True
It doesn't have a sensor bar like the Wii
said nobody, everyone shitted on the wii u tablet, amibos are cool collectibles and nothing more, labo was a flop and joycons delivered, plenty of people like them but they were just to small for everyone.
people wouldn't have used it if it was third party and devs wouldn't have accounted for it
I use both mouse and kb and also a controller for certain games. FPS on a controller suck ass. Only an ignoramus would not agree to this simple truth.
And they say nintendo isn't a cult.
Depends on the game. Obviously it works better for shooters but you can't really say the same for standard console games like Mario and Zelda.
If that argument would be true, why did nintendo bother to add a mouse function at all?
Because gyro controls are ass
gyro:
at least as accurate as mouse
natural translation of your motion to in game motion
doesn't require a fucking desk
mouse:
requires a shit ass desk
friction
bad for the wrist
why are we regressing
it's not really about cultish devotion and more that convenience is king and asking casuals (nintendo players) to go mildly out of the way if they want to use a mouse is more like telling them they won't use a mouse. making the default controller also a mouse isn't a bad way of ensuring it will be used as a mouse
Switch 1 already supports them but that's the thing barely any games / devs implemented them since it is optional, this time there are two mice that you get straight from the box.
>Guys think of the possibilities with the joycons!
that's the only exception that worked though?
Snoyposter
Gyro is not bad at all, but not good stuck on a handheld if you're playing something like a shooter. Which is a conundrum because that's precisely where it would be more helpful, being that mice are no good on the go.
Mouse remains to be the easier to learn and properly handle way of playing FPS/TPS. Gyro is very close, but has a steep learning curve, and there are different methods people haven't bothered with because it takes time to get used to that shit.
There is a reason why competetive games like league or CS2 are played with KB+M in the compettition scene.
I’m kind of excited to try it, I really hate using dual analog for first person games. Would really love it if they can add mouse support to Switch 1 games but not holding my breath. I’m pretty confident they will put out a mouse shell for it, and/or separate mouse. Really hoping CyberPunk will support it.
Didn't Lenovo made exactly that for their handheld?
It's stupid that despite modern consoles clearly able to work with a mouse and keyboard you're not allowed to because retards who have no issue buying 90$ controllers apparently can't fathom the idea of a 20$ mouse and keyboard to play CoD or Fortnite. A mouse should be baseline with consoles since they're just retard proof PCs.
Keyboards are unironically better for precise movement
Not even close. Joystick allows for best movement but you also need keys but it becomes uncomfortable. Azeron does something unique trying to combine both but it's pretty gimmicky and nobody wants to buy stuff like that or unlearn decades of experience.
If you think about it, Switch 2 is probably the first Nintendo console since the Gamecube that doesn't have any real gimmick. Hybrid consoles aren't really a gimmick anymore, especially now that even PC handhelds can connect to monitors, and mouse control is more of an option than a gimmick. The game chat feature isn't anything new either, since it's been done on other platforms
gyro
accurate
Never used a mouse?
Anon Babbletards pretending Mustards don't use both control schemes when applicable
yes, it is more of a vertical mouse / joystick.
Lenovo isn't Nintendo.
Good pointer controls with the sensor bar, good motion controls in Wii Motion+, and the wiimote and nunchuck were comfortable to hold. Dump all that for the shitty low quality joy-cons.
at least as accurate as mouse
I had to regularly recenter the motion controls with LS on Splatoon because the controls got some offset over time.
It's better than sticks for sure, but it doesn't hold a single candle to the mouse.
And we will see that very quickly when Splatoon 4 release.
Joystick allows for best movement
Nah. It's more difficult to get precise movement from a stick, and changing directions is much slower.
Joy cons were amazing though, Wii remotes were fucking shit.
They weren't that great but I'm sure they could have improved on that and nowadays we'd have low latency, accurate pointing.
I been doing this with reWASD/couch mousepad. It's only good for shooters.
Im surprised they didnt bite the VR gimmick, with using the switch as a mobile VR type thing. The controllers already come off, and theg did something like that with Switch, but on weaker level. Who knows maybe it will go the mobile VR route gimmick.
Joysticks gives you 360-degree movement but yeah you need keys, there's videos about it, a couple of youtube where they show this stuff. With keys plus joystick you can do stuff that mouse + keyboard vs controller/gyro can't do but again nobody is gonna learn that stuff and PC companies don't innovate generally. It'll never catch on when the other stuff is so standard. Controller + gyro is good enough for 99.8% of people
I love playing Sunshine with my keyboard it's so precise and fun
Joystick for left hand + mouse for right hand would be absolutely phenomenal for GTA and games like that. Can't think of any other games though that I would want that layout. Especially not any Nintendo games lol.
Gta has auto aim on a controller. No need for precission.
Joysticks gives you 360-degree movement
So? You have a mouse. Can you actually name the amount of times you absolutely need to move in an angle precisely between each 45-degree interval?
if the leaks continue to be true Switch 2 will have a magnetometer to calibrate itself and gyro should be improved with less drifting.
Joy cons were amazing though
were
Trolling used to be an art.
It doesnt look ergonomic at all
yeah bro just grind the side of a breadstick on your desk
auto aim
more like auto lame
They are no longer joycons. They are mouse-hybrids.
What are you, a jealous snoy?
to attract the grumpy old boomer audience
It looks SUPER uncomfortable to use for more than like an hour or two.
This is probably true but their decision to opt for a mousemode tells me they have 0 confidence in gyro, whether thats due to consumers still having the 'ick' due to waggle or nintendos gyro generally being finnicky remains to be seen
So?
You said mouse and keyboard was better which isn't true because it's not perfect. Not shilling for azeron, never used it. But if you don't care about perfect aim or perfect movement then controller and gyro is better for most genres anyways.
You can just pump the trigger and the game auto locks on every enemy in the shooting gallery. Gta is the antithesis of "precision aiming"
gyro won
mousefags lost
yeah, I know, It would be cool if native cursor means now gyro could be implemented more widely but if anything devs will just implement mouse mode and complete forget about gyro making it even less relevant.
Do people honestly play Switch at their desk? Ive seen a lot of people blow mouse mode because "THIS IS PERFECT, I PLAY SWITCH AT MY DESK" but everyone Ive ever known with a switch uses it handheld on or around a couch. Maybe its a jap thing since they all live in tinyhouses
This is great news
Switch 2 games are gonna work really well on emulators now
it's fun
tfw metroid prime 4 comes with primehack preinstalled
Im still very curious to see how these games run with NintenDenuvo
they ran great at the switch 2 events
Dollars to donuts those didnt have denuvo
Digital movement works perfectly in any game that wants a mouse for aiming.
Gyro aim isnt as good as mouse, but Im not using a fucking mouse in my living room, I blame normie retards for not adjusting to it, I blame devs for not properly using it, and I blame nintendo for capitulating
damn didn't even think of that
but Im not using a fucking mouse in my living room
Assuming that you can use it on any solid surface, why not?
Lap desks are a thing, that’s how I’ll be using (from the couch). I’m used to using lapdesk from covid, also used for fight stick.
1. I dont have a coffee table due to not wanting to navigate around a coffee table
2. Im 6'1", and Im not hunching forward to drag a joycon across a coffee table
3. If you are going to make me half assume a PC desk posture, Im just going to move to the PC
This makes sense, just not my thing
That’s fair. At the end of the day, it’s simply another option, no obligation to use it, just like how I never used gyro on switch - cool enough idea, I just really dislike, not for me.
1. I dont have a coffee table due to not wanting to navigate around a coffee table
2. Im 6'1", and Im not hunching forward to drag a joycon across a coffee table
3. If you are going to make me half assume a PC desk posture, Im just going to move to the PC
Literally just sit back in your couch, put a book next to your lap or on your lap, put the "mouse" on top and use it there.
You're just a sunk cost fag.
Switchs gyro not having shit for options and nintendo hating their userbase poisoned Gyro. If Switch had the same gyro tweaking as steamdeck itd be a fucking hit, as it stands its always overly sensitive or not sensitive enough, even splatoon left a lot to be desired
It’s just a rip off of the Lenovo handheld
new joycons have gyro and mouse
Muh semantics
Retarded AND an ESL.
does it still have stick drift
Mouse is far more precise and far more accurate, plus pointing at a screen isn't really good for common use cases like playing FPS with a mouse and controlling the camera.
Snoy jealousy, you love to see it
you didn't play splatoon and it shows
I don't have a table in front of my tv that's high enough for me to use this.
Consoles finally conceded
my hand is cramping up just looking at this bullshit
Splatoon doesn't have pointer controls, and the game is designed as such that you're always facing forward.
introducing Nintendo Lap-o
Kek
doesn't matter because prime 4 doesn't use gyro except for door puzzles
Will be very interesting and viable imo but you will need a grip for that joycon or else suffer from carpel tunnel
so awkward and uncomfortable to use that he tries to switch back to using it like a regular gamepad
Yeah exactly. It's wild how much better gyro can be when it's actually implemented properly. Steam Deck and even PS5 have way more precise tuning and customization, so it's crazy that Nintendo, who pushed gyro usage with Splatoon, never gave more control over sensitivity curves or dead zones. It’s like they half-assed it and expected people to just deal. No wonder so many players bounce off it.
Who moves a mouse like that?
It’s the truth, Lenovo already did it on their handheld pc
We can all see the users wrist straining in the op webm.
PC gaming is considered retarded
Welcome to controller gaming. All games have soft lock on with it.
Yeah the joycon is way too small, like youre holding some shitty 4 dollar best buy mouse, and the spot your thumb should rest is actually pushed either below or above by the joystick jutting out. Does the joystick stop sending input in mouse mode? If not weve got a pretty big problem
You can also see that he doesn't know how to use a mouse.
The mouse is something they added to make it more apealing to port games to the switch that work with mouse&keyboard.
Like Anons above said, it's pointless if games like GTA6 and CoD don't make it to the platform.
Anon, no one wants gta or cod on switch 2.
GTA6 is probably going to get a switch 2 port.
Xbox series S is going to get gta6, and switch 2 performance is somewhere in between the ps4 and xbox S.
back in 2018 when the motion aiming meme became prevalent everyone was going gaga over how it would replace mouse and people were doing wacky control schemes with their DS4 and Switch Pro Controllers, why are we suddenly going backwards
Do you genuinely think those are the only games that make use of a mouse?
What other games would require a mouse more than shooters? Point-n-click?
Because developers refused to adapt gyro controls. Aside from that, games continue to be ported to consoles with subpar control schemes for controllers. So many games exist with menus that are absolutely shit to access with a controller. Admittedly some games are just plain garbage without a mouse, mainly RTS games.
I expect nintendos lack of control of mousemode will lead to yet another deadend gimmick
Because developers refused to adapt gyro controls
And why would they? It amounts to being a poor man’s KB&M and no one wants to be wagglan their controller when they wanna sit back and relax for some gaming. It’s only nintendo who tried to push the meme and like all of their other useless gimmick’s they go nowhere
That looks uncomfortable as all fuck, but it means mouse support out of the box for Switch 2 emulators so I hope lots of devs use it.
Had this for ps1, but it was an actual mouse so it wasn't painful to hold onto like that for more than 5 minutes.
I use my environment and even my own body as a mouse pad all the time.
Waggle and gyro aim arent the same thing, Nintendos bad habit is the "If you build it they will come" mindset that puts even their own devs in a "dude you have to do something, I cant work with this shit" spot. Wii motion plus was the result of many devs shouting "What the fuck am I supposed to do with this shit" at nintendo, and even then it was undercooked and still shitty.
Finally. It's real.
how did he have sunk cost in fucking vanilla? the game was actually great back then
great
Social phenomenon is a much better way at putting it. Mechanically (yes even vanilla) WoW is dogshit. Its like saying DarkRP is good
I used to have a meme of Rich Evans pulling out a wooden plank and setting it on his lap on the couch then using a mouse on it. Just so you know, you are retarded.
This is fucking retarded. If I wanted to play with a mouse I'd be playing on my computer. I want to lay out on my couch with a controller.
Could this be the most innovative controller Nintendo’s ever made or just another useless gimmick no one ends up using?
Neither, is just a natural control scheme that has existed since the 90s
It looks incredibly uncomfortable. I personally plan to never use it.
a fat gay retard did this fat gay retarded thing
Okay, what follows from this?
8bitdo makes official Mooncat controllers?
Unironically shill issue
no, it was legitimately great
MP3's motion pointer controls were the best, but this is a close second
You can play vanilla in TurtleWoW right now, you can play classic right now, its shit. Youre nostalgic for a time when you and your bros were partying together in dungeons and raids and shit, not the actual game or its mechanics
It's a good feature but I have my doubts as to whether the joycon will actually be comfortable to use as a mouse. If it is I'd love to use it with Sploon 4.
If mouse controls are uncomfortable the device has gamepad options for your
Honestly, it's genius, heard some Valve people on Reddit were praising, guess next iteration of steam deck will have some sort of this tech.
With a responsive screen it would probably work even better.
I'm interested to see if you can use a third party mouse for this. Basically, I'm hoping the switch has native mouse support. Playing splatoon with an actual mouse has been a small dream of mine, but using a joycon as a mouse seems uncomfortable as hell to me.
Thank you!
The second to last trailer first seconds almost made me jump from the chair, because I was sure it was Kid Icarus.
Since it was Sakurai who made the trailer, I guess it was on purpose.
You can use a mouse with steam deck already! Wow
You already can, and you have trackpads, so mouses, in a way.
I'm more intrigued why nintendo didn't go the trackpad way.
I can't imagine how fucking awful this thing must feel to use. There's a reason mice look the way they do. Because they are meant to be ergonomic. Now take a fucking joycon and hold it sideways.
Ho no go- I mean dear customer that joycon is too unergonomic for you, you are losing your competitive advantage!
Unless you buy this Ninetndo(tm) Mouse for the low price of 99$ hehehe
Calling it
Will there be an upsurge in titty mouse pads? I need a new Gaben mousepad.
I think it's an interesting gimmick. I vibed with the motion control too. Like it wasn't meant for every single game, but i could definetly get behind aiming bows using motion control.
Will Nintendo let us use our own webcam and mouse with the Switch 2 since it uses usb-c?
Me. My PC was hooked up to my living room TV when I was single. Was max comfy being wrapped up in a big blanket on the couch, keyboard on my lap, mouse/mousepad on the cushion next to me and playing WoW with the bros late into the night.
The Wii U gamepad worked as an IR sensor bar just fine iirc
10 years ago I had a regular customer at my LAN center who would play Battlefield with a controller in his left hand and aiming/shooting with the mouse. Best of both worlds.
I want to wear wrist weights while playing shooter games.
Wii, Switch 2, or Quest 3?
Currently playing Quest 3. Long time enjoyer of House of the Dead 2&3 Return with gyn peripheral on Wii.
Surely they will at let us use a bluetooth mouse instead, i'm getting hand cramps junt by looking at it.
Apple had this figured out in the 90s: just put a trackball in the controller.
sitting on couch, how use?
I remember the xbone let you, so one guy got kicked out of a tournament on Anon Babble because he secretly used a mouse in a console game.
Gyro is on every system
but tuned like shit. Nintendo seems to make sure switch devs actually make the gyro mode useful and it just werks out of the box instead of having to do a bunch of settings and workarounds
Anon, tendies for years have been saying that gyro was the closest to mouse controls on a console game, if anything they are over the moon for this, meanwhile PS5/Xbox are still stuck with joystick aiming.
that looks really uncomfortable
How is it innovative? Are tendies claiming Nintendo invented the mouse now?
Console peasant can’t even comprehend the glory of MnK
The innovative part is making the default controller work as a mouse as well.
People who say that Nintendo invented mouses are shitposting hard. That's not the point.
People who say SNES/PS1/PS2/PS3/PS4/PS5 Mouse controller are also wrong because that's an optional accessory for these consoles.
You buy a Switch 2 and you also get the mouse controls, that's the innovative part not the mouse itself.
It's on Playstation and games don't even support it half the time. Xbox doesn't have gyro at all.
10 buttons plus a stick is enough for any multiplat slop. how many games actually use more than wasd +qerfc+space?
It's innovative because you don't need to buy an extra mouse controller and every game supports it by default.
I've seen many fags who use the OG switch on their desks, they might see some use for the mouse. But those who use the switch on the living room are just never going to use the function
is this the proper mousepad to use while playing MP4?
gimmicky trash that isn't ever going to wow anyone at kiosks, switch 1 already had plenty of these gimmicks no one even remembers
Looks great to use for Prime 4. Hopefully this leads to a new Mario Paint game or maybe Mario Maker adding this mouse control option. Same with the Sin and Punishment games.
soooooo about the keyboard.......
It's a mouse...
those are some hairy ass arms
Don't worry, Nintendo invented that years ago.
third parties are gonna make a real mouse with proper ergonomics using joycon's internals and that already sounds cool
I don't get how this doesn't end up with kids using it on their sofa and ruining their furniture. Probably some very retarded adults too.
Anons, for the love of god don't fucking use your sofa as a mousepad.
I can't wait to dab on Gyrofaggots and Controllerfaggots with Mouse controls
Thank you based Nintendo
FUCK GYRONIGGERS
The Lenovo Legion Go has had this feature for a few year snow. It has detachable joycons that can be used as a mouse.
I can already feel my carpal tunnel flare up
EXACTLY, jesus you put into words what I was thinking, this new joycon fixes a problem no one cares about and no one asked for, no one but me
It's years late now, but Steam Input probably makes shit like this actually work.
you didn't play it in 2004 you faggot.
turtlewow
they will literally read your private dm's and guild chat to make sure you didn't utter a positive word about Trump and permaban you if you did. literal tranny shit. more cucked than even nu-blizzard, which is fucking hard to do
I do not like gyro
You are getting your aim assist taken away from you and you are angry! :)
Now that the Switch 2 has a mouse you literally don't need anything else, everything will play perfectly.
more hairy than my 28 year old arms
Looks so bad, and it's probably 125hz as well and input latency out the ass as any single wireless controller Nintendo has ever made.
Why not let us use nice that have been developed over years to be ergonomic and responsive
They actually added mouse support to Metroid Prime 4, this means we will be able to play Splatoon 4 with mouse, FUCK.
Who hurt you? Gyro is as precise as mouse. You're not making anysense. Also the mouse feature has active gyro at the same time anyway, so you're using both at once.
underrated
125hz is so fucking bad, this better not be real.
Using 125hz gyro on 60fps max games thinks it's just as good as 1000-8000hz mice with 360hz monitors
Console cuks are so cute
Gyro is 1000hz on my PC.
I wonder if we will be able to use a real mouse too.
>gyro
>not accurate
carpal tunnel controller
so a mouse
So surely u have max rank in cs2 and r6 siege the only games where a controller stick isn't better due to autoaim
most PC-only games has a comically long list of actions for every A-Z key, 0-9, sometimes for Numpad and ,./;'[]-= and Shift combinations
So we've come all the way back around from making fun of SplitFish in the 00's to thinking this is a cool idea now because nintendo is doing it?
New joycons don't have IR, switch 1 can use pointer controls tho.
Nintendo is adding a cool new feature to the console market that already existed on the PC market.
Anon Babble seethes
why is that?
What's new about it? Why not just let you use any mouse which is going to be 1000x better and design the games for it.
Nintendo derangement syndrome is a hell of a drug
another useless gimmick no one ends up using
this one
Doesn't look very comfortable desu and it's gonna suck for people with big hands, looks like it's more designed for kids, women and smaller asian hands.
Legion go did this better imo with holding up the "mouse" but maybe they patented it so Nintendo did it flat.
This actually looks way worse than a flat joycon. No way a flight stick grip is more comfortable than a thin mouse.
Mouse support is already on a lot of PS5/Xbox games retards.
Problem is for multiplayer shooters mouse is useless due to strong aim assist.
mfw Capcom didn't incorporate gyro into RE4 on the Switch
What a missed opportunity.
Vertical mice are pretty comfortable.
this, I used one of these when I moved from Xbox to PC for the first Titanfall game (I still maintain that a thumbstick is way, way better for movement than WASD every could be)
Without proper steam input controls tho, it was pretty fucking useless. In hybrid mode it tried to switch between analog and digital input extremely often, so it was laggy.
Steam input fixed that, combined the analogue control for the thumbstick with the much better mouse aiming. But the sensor kinda sucked, and the stick on mine got drift before Steam input supported it. I have tried just using a full controller and a Hero g502 since though, and it rocked, but I've since switched to 100% MnKB now, barring a few games when I go full controller.
Gyrofags are the Bikefags of Vidya
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Who said you can't?
We don't even know if Switch 2 is going to support external mouses, the chances are is that it will
It'll be good, but you will have to purchase custom joycons that are built like mouse and keyboard. And will it really be worth it? I'm not using that dinky shit as a mouse.
Aren't vertical mice also big enough to cup your palm? Also your range of motion is restricted since you aren't using your fingers.
you dont have to be hunched over to use a mouse on a proper desk and chair. you would for a sofa and a coffee table, badly, yeah
Pretty odd they got this thing when joycon have astonishingly accurate gyro that they can just improve more.
it's always either that or not understanding that gyro isn't supposed to completely replace use of the right stick.
retarded
my own body as a mouse pad
Do you look like this?
