7 - sold but overrated
8 - until 15 came out, 8 was the worst. No good characters outside of Laguna, shitty romance, the farm needed to get spells to junction sucked because every avenue was undesirable, shit romance, lame final boss.
9 - okay way to damn slow and kills my desire to replay
12 - didn't like Vann, programmable party AI was okay until I found one where it was so good that the game played itself and really didn't need to modify. Plus the party felt so detached from the events of the plot

Not really. The most they do is introduce their own version of Cloud of Darkness, which is entirely different than the Dissidia/III version aside from being a nebulous evil creature.
They KINDA pull a little from VIII with Lady Lilith being a time-related villainess, but there's no connection outside of that vague one.
