Why?

It's crazy how there's never been a true clone of this game that doesn't focus too much on the combat side of things over the store side. Best I've played is an indie an anon made and shilled here that's JUST the haggling side with no combat.

It's the only halfway decent Jew simulator. All the others immediately fail because
1. They try to focus on other things besides haggling and rapport building with customers
2. They all star protagonists that aren't cute little girls

Yup. Over a decade and you're stuck with Moonlighter, Potionomics, and I think Final Profit is one of them? I guess there's also atelier but that series is doing its own thing at this point

When does the HD remake come out

The indie I mentioned is Merchant of the Six Kingdoms. Again it's JUST the haggling and you're a traveling merchant rather than a static storefront but it might scratch an itch.

Oh, interesting... This might be too rich for my blood but this seems really well made.

The store stuff is ultimately really shallow so people get caught up in trying to make the dungeon part fun. It doesn't have enough to it to be a genre

I have not seen anything of the game you're talking about but there is a much older genre of trading sim type games/game mechanics that are just buy low here sell high there. With a travelling theme I'd think it would be more like those than the Recettear "build up trust in the long term" element.

Recette and Caillou should kiss

you only have to stoop to buying food for the first week. then you unlock vending machines and can stock expensive equipment in them. this will let you coast for the second week, where you can just buy unlimited vending machines, will your store with nothing but vending machines stocked *with* vending machines, and have more than double what you need to pay the entire loan before the third week is out. crashing the economy for fun and profit!

Genki girl x serious boy is a pairing as old as time.

Recette and Charme should kiss. Caillou should be taking Elan's dick

dumbass, if you let people buy vending machines from your vending machines they'll just stock THEIR vending machines with vending machines and drive you out of business

its why Eschalogy is my favorite Atelier tfw non canon pairing

get stuck in a dead end because I didn't play the game perfectly

Sad

Speaking of, I've been interested of them since the anime was aired. Can I play just their game?
I was planning to but I learned it was part 2 of a trilogy so I got second thoughts.

i played potionomics which is only loosely inspired by the haggling side of this game, but its main problem is that i always have shit RNG for getting any items that make what i actually want to be making and that makes it harder to make potions to give mint so she can get me shit from the areas where you just can't get anything done in if you don't have the prerequisite potions...areas which have a lot of ingredients i need for potions i need to give her to do stuff in that area, etc. etc. etc.

They all star protagonists that aren't cute little girls

the mc of potionomics is cute, moreso if you're a pitfag. sadly most of the other women are far cuter than her

I did again somewhat recently

do a full run

2 books boom, instantly able to max out the little girl budget

end with x3 the amount of debt I'm supposed to pay on the last day (1.5m) before even the last week

extremely blessed run holy shit

close game because dinner time

no save data

play again the next day

make sure to save this time

slightly rougher run because I kept getting price drops on the items I was buying

no, not market crashes

third week suddenly has an increase on food and armor

make 1m out of nowhere

manage to beat the game again

Good thing it's a short game.

I really don't understand why the shop sims don't try to make the customers the star of the show by giving them personalities and preferences. They just make it "number go up" without even considering that snags in the process or optimization for variables is what makes it so addicting.

Even though its a trilogy its mostly just a setting that shares characters, the games themselves are designed to be play standalone. Ayesha is about saving her sister, Eschalogy is about wageslaving, Shallie is about saving her village. There is the Dusk plotline but honestly its a backdrop until Shallie where they do the actual lore dumps.

Normally I would recommend Ayesha cause Eschalogy does spoil some stuff and its considered one of the best games but if you already watched the anime none of that really applies. So yeah you'd be just fine to jump in. You can play either Escha or Logy but the general plot stays the same, just the viewpoint changes so you'll get a bit extra on either side. And you'll get the true ending for finishing both.

On my first playthrough I wanted to do this, but realized just playing the shop and then using endless mode for dungeon was a better plan.
That final boss rush holy fucking shit.

costumers

This anon gets me.

Thanks kind anon.
I'll add it on my list.

So does this have any mechanics on fostering good partnerships with traders/suppliers? Or good knowledge on what's profitable during seasons and other external factors like diseases or geopolitics?

Use Tielle

She is ez mode for exploration and decent for bosses. If you need a character only for boss rushing, then Caillou breaks it on half.

I would eat her cunt if you know what I mean

Sex with Recette Lemongrass.

I want a sequel that makes the dungeon aspect play just like Gurumin and/or Zwei 2. Just thinking about it makes me so fucking hard holy shit.

Escha & Logy nailed the turned based combat to the point Gust is still struggling to make a system as good.

She's the most based little girl in gaming.

onahole fairy

They fail to realize that rapport building is an integral part of any business, that's why they always treat the customers as a faceless crowd.

You foster good relationships with your customers. Whenever you give them a price they're super happy with, the amount they'll be willing to spend goes up and that "hit price" adjusts upward. The trader's guild by default likes you because you're a little girl going about the trade all by herself being forced to pay off her missing father's debt. Throughout the game, the prices of various goods will change, based on trends that randomly pop up every day. The people of Pensee are basically ADHD materialists whose whims change on a day to day basis. One day, books about alcohol will be all the rage, the next, the price on daggers crashes because of a local stabbing causing a panic, etc. The game is kind enough to let you know what items are having their prices drastically affected by changing the text color for you to reflect it, but how much you actually sell them for depends on what you can haggle up with people.

Recettear is older than most Anon Babble posters at this point.

Does anyone ever play survival hell?
I remember making it through 2 months on my best attempt, sadly the third was too bullshit.

Too bad the game feels awfully unfinished with no depth on the rival or an actual threat past a certain point.
Pretty cute game but it couldve gone way further in many aspects.

Alouette is just a tsun. She is actually the best customer in the game bar none, allowing you to sell very expensive items at any point.

There's an insanely low amount of art involving Tear getting hatefucked for her deeds and I don't like it.

Also the other delivery from that thread.

Tear did nothing wrong.
Well, except give you the shittiest tutorial possible.

Think it's because the game makes it confusing just how small Tear actually is. Official art has her as large as a soda can, but in-game her portrait is as large as everyone else's, so it's super easy to believe she's only a head or so shorter than Recette. Doesn't help her sprite's fairly large too.

hehe funny picture ~ saved :)

It has been so long since i played i dont remember any of the character names, but i do remember her encounter also being a double edged weapon since you get to meet a black fairy who is even worse than the damn child in terms of stingyness.
Either way i wish some interactions were beyond "this character now appears on your shop".

Yeah Prime expects no more than 103% markup lmao, it's actually fucked how stingy she is. But Alouette makes up for it, way more because she can pick up expensive items early on and pay up to 150(or 300+ when red) on markup, she can potentially win the game for you in a single sale.

Either way i wish some interactions were beyond "this character now appears on your shop".

She actually appears to give non-shop related dialogues, randomly spawns in dungeons and has some cutscenes in lapis ruins.

I never had her randomly spawn on me or i dont remember, and i used to live in dungeons grinding stuff to combine, maybe i played a very early release or something?

I guess. I saw her multiple times just by doing jade way in the latest version.

so did some faggot streamer or youtuber play this game recently? i havent seen it talked about in over a decade and now all of a sudden i see it posted everywhere and newgen niggers are acting like theyve been lifelong fans of it. kill niggers and troons thobeit

I fucking hate fairies, man.

I fucking love fairies, woman.

I still haven't beat Recettear without looping. Why is this game so hard?

You are playing it wrong.
Keep your combos up, gain customer reputation, don't buy a lot of expensive items if you can't sell them to anyone yet. By the last week paying the debt is chump change.

No but fr
Wtf everytime I have the itch to try to beat this game again I forget how ancient the game looks

But I'm sure glad to see this game again what a classic

December from what I have heard.
And the game looks fine

I tried moonlighter but the shop part is way slow and boring, it lacks the charm recettear had.

Nothing topped Recettear yet.
And I don't think anything will unless the devs decide to make a spiritual sequel, maybe with another loli and fairy couple.

I couldnt care less about the child, i care about the game itself, but yeah if the formula works then it should be refined.

Space Rangers is a bit like that too

Will never forgive Tear for clamblocking Charme

thx, downloading now.

I've tried playing this before but I can never get past week 1, maybe I'm genuinely stupid

What does she say in the original Japanese instead of "Capitalism Ho!"?

"Marxism banzai!"
these localizers can't keep getting away with it

thanks anon looks cure, pirated, might play some day if i stumble across it in my huge pile of games

Capitalism Ho! Is a super rare example of translators adding an actually funny joke the JP version doesn't have. Whatever jaded motherfucker added that deserves some sort of prize.

Whatever jaded motherfucker added that deserves some sort of prize.

The same nigger that forced Arche and her sexy little friends to put on towels while bathing. GIVE ME FORTUNE SUMMONERS 2 FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

That cliffhanger actually fucked me up. I didn't see the ending coming at all and was so fucking hyped to explore past that one gate and find out what's Chiffon's deal.

The thought of a whole sequel that expands upon the gattai wind magic Arche can do with Chiffon, along with more elaborate combo chains and stuff makes my dick rigid. Plus, imagine getting to dress Arche and her friends in all sorts of cute new outfits beyond just simple color swaps? I really like how the game handled the AI companions too. People jerk off Astlibra as far as platforming RPGs go, but FS is still the peak for me as far as gameplay and mechanics go. Mid-game when Arche has a ton more mobility and combat options makes playing her so much fun, I barely ever wanted to switch to Stella or Sana.

Yeah, I remember being super hyped to get the wings, then the game ended.
Truly we live in dark times, where we never got the sequel.
