Just completed the Thieves guild quest line. Reached level 25. Done a few Daedric quests. Got a fair bit through the Assassin guild shit too. Complete the Knights of the Nine quests and am fully decked out in the Crusader armor. And so far, I have to say...

I am not seeing the magic. The music is good, but not Skyrim good. The armor, while better-looking than a lot of Skyrim's offerings, aren't enough to make up for the inordinate amount of negatives I am experiencing for the first time in Cyrodil. The bugs certainly aren't helping either.

I kept hearing way back in 2011 about how "superior" the faction quests were in Oblivion. Well, I'm calling horse shit now. The Thieves Guild quest line sucked ass. Everyone said the equivalent in Skyrim was overlong and badly paced, and made no sense because it forced you to swear your soul to Nocturnal? Bitch, if that shit was poorly paced, then the one in Oblivion is the War and Peace of super long quest lines. It's nothing but fetch quests, going back and forth between cities like a glorified courier. And during the final stretch, it gets even worse. You're basically a bitch boy for the Gray Fox. It's super long, super boring, and the only pay-off is at the very end when the Gray Fox reveals himself to be Corvus. But he barely explains how he managed to undo the curse apart from Elder Scrolls shenanigans.

I honestly had more fun with the Thieves Guild in Skyrim. And so far, I'm not seeing the genius with the Assassin's either. I haven't exactly reached the end, but I just got finished with the "Purification," and I ain't impressed. You fuckers lied to me about how much better these factions were. The guild is a secret society, not some band of thugs. You actually work to uncover the guild’s secrets. You earn trust from beggars, fight for your place, and gradually rise through the ranks. It’s immersive. In Skyrim, they hand you the keys to the guild like it’s a freebie. It feels like you’re just running errands for a Daedric prince, not living the life of a thief. And the Gray Fox? He’s not a “bitch boy” the mystery is part of what makes the story so compelling. The curse? It’s a big deal, and the slow reveal adds depth. You’re not supposed to get everything at once. Compare that to Skyrim, where the guild’s “mystery” is just about you playing bank manager for a bunch of bums. As for fetch quests sure there are some, but they help build atmosphere. The guild makes you earn your place, unlike Skyrim where you’re handed everything on a silver platter.

Don't even get a unique piece of attire for joining! At least the Dark Brotherhood gets matching uniforms.
