No one talking about Lunar anymore?
How was the remaster?
No one talking about Lunar anymore?
people complaining the game is too easy compared to the working designs version
people complaining about missing voiced lines compared to the working designs version
people complaining about some funny lines being changed
vic won the lunar bowl
i cant play games without an objective marker and a mini map.
Where are these people complaining? Cause its not here.
They made the game easier? It was already brain dead.
No they didn't make the game easier.
It was restored to its original difficulty after the working designs version fucked it.
So they made it easier. Got it.
I can understand putting back the kriginal difficulty, but if so many people experienced the game with it's harder setting, why not leaving it in as an option?
That just makes me cknsider emulating the ps1 version over buying a newer one that is less fun.
Because the changes were stupid.
You got less xp from enemies, less money, needed more exp to level, drastically lowered the drop rate on items from enemies.
Like literally everything they did to the game made it less fun and more grindy.
Who the fuck cares if it made the game more challenging when it became less fun?
Bro, the game was piss easy, even with those changes, and that was when I was a retarded 8 year old. You say it made the game grindy, but you had absolutely no need to grind, ever. You can beat the entire game, beginning to end, only fighting encounters through the mandatory paths and you'd have enough levels to clear everything. And who gives a fuck about item drop rates? Only thing that you might want to farm are the shiro badges and you get one for free.
If you're porting an old game hoping to appeal to nostalgia, maybe leave the game like people remembered it as. Why would I want to play a videogame with absolutely zero challenge?
just ignore changes that make the game worse bro
Replaying Lunar 2 has been a wonderful nostalgia trip. I started with that one cause I feel like it's gotten way less love over the years and I prefer it to Lunar 1 anyway.
I've already felt that Lunar 2 was better than 1.
they followed the original japanese version, so any and all changes working designs made were undone outside of the script. Here's the dream sequence now for example

remaster
They added an option to use JP language with english text right?
yes, but it's still the working designs script so the jap voices aren't actually going to match what's being said
The new translation has been interesting to experience. Seems like they went with the same approach that Tom Slattery took with the GBA Final Fantasy retranslations (and Chrono Trigger on the DS, I guess). They took out all the egregious stuff while keeping all the harmless quips and gags intact. A lot of the NPC dialog reads more like Grandia 1's now, which makes total sense. That game's translation had WAY less ad libbed dialogue, so it probably reflected Working Designs' actual writing style much better.
Yes but the main concern is not hearing the horrible english voices.
jap voices aren't actually going to match what's being said
oh no, my mastery of the japanese language that I clearly speak and write fluently will be all for naught
Do expect a bunch of dated references here and there, though.
i don't think there's anything wrong with the new english voices tbqh
they're pretty close to the originals
they're pretty close to the originals
The originals were ear bleedingly awful.
And I say this as a huge Lunar fan.
I got just the screenshot to respond to your post, anon.
Why would I want to play this version when I could just play the PS1 versions.
Nice. But there is literally no Japanese game with a good english dub. Just like anime.
Keep telling yourself that one, buddy.
Are you Vic?
the depth of field effect here looks awful
No, but I'm not gonna pretend that the Lunar games had bad voice acting or humor your dumbass blanket statement about dubs.
or humor
The working designs 90s pop culture references jammed into the game were absolutely awful and broke immersion.
Wrong definition of humor, anon. Read a book.
Grinding more is a valid setting to make a game harder
Ah, Anon Babble, how I missed yah. Welcome back.
had the opportunity to buy silver star story complete edition for the psx
bought ff8 instead
i'm grinding in the Grindery.
Then tell me what you mean in the context of the game.
Level 50 achievement?
WTF is her problem!?
Wants human dick.
yes, but i forgot there was a dungeon afterwards so i'm leaving now
The context of my post is completely self-contained and has nothing to do with the game.
has nothing to do with the game
I'm not gonna pretend that the Lunar games had bad voice acting or humor
Okay, you seem to be ESL or some shit. Let me give you a hint.
humor: to soothe or content (someone) by indulgence : to comply with the temperament or inclinations of
Now re-read my post.
Nope still don't understand what you're talking about.
What hasn't changed
-No bromides have been censored
-No lewd anime has been censored
-No innuendo jokes have been censored
-Some references like Star Wars etc. have been kept
What has changed
-Jean no longer says "Gypsy Magic!" when using one of her dance attacks.
-Reference to M&M removed alongside other brand names.
-Lunar 1's inventory is no longer per character, everyone can use Nall's inventory at all times.
-Some requirements for some Bromides have been changed. Some Bromides have been shuffled. This is mainly to make most of them unmissable.
-Ramus sells the Rememberizer mid-game instead of just in the epilogue.
-Due to how the Lunar 1 inventory system works, you no longer need to use Alex's Ocarina at the end.
The Lunar thread we had was right on the day of the hack so that might be why discussion went down quickly.
Haven't tried it so far, how does it compare graphically? Does it have a forced smear filter like Grandia HD?
-Some requirements for some Bromides have been changed. Some Bromides have been shuffled. This is mainly to make most of them unmissable.
Thank fucking god. Some requirements were bullshit, like talking to a random guy at a SPECIFIC time 4 times or something so you can get the Bromide 2 hours later by returning to a city you have no reason to ever return.
Those things were made JUST to sell guides back in the day.
PSP of Lunar 1 is the best version
Sega CD is the best version of Eternal Blue
These remasters are kind of pointless. It'd be nice if they were $30 for both but the $50 is super greedy since it's barely an upgrade.
The only upside is that it might encourage GungHo to go after Skies of Arcadia next since some of the Game Arts studio members worked on that game. That game needs the audio of the dreamcast and content of the gamecube with a relocalization and it's perfect.
>PSP of Lunar 1 is the best version
said no one ever
Is this a version where Kyle gets drunk after drinking milk?
>Sega CD is the best version of Eternal Blue
Spending Magic Points to Save and learn more magic.
No thank you.
Grab the undub iso and play on an emulator.
No one played Lunar on Sega CD hardware if you're gonna argue about the load times and audio cutoff of the PSP port.
I stopped giving a shit when they said they were going to use WD scripts
Why would Ghaleon(gay) put a teenager girl in that outfit?
Don't use the Working Design's script
People complain
Use the Working Design's script
People complain.
Lose lose situation.
Silver Star Harmony's only upside is the music. Everything else is lame as hell, from its wholly pointless intro sequence to its crappy early mobile game-esque graphics.
>>Don't use the Working Design's script
>People complain
I don't consider you subhuman amerimutts as people
Go eat your jelly donuts Body Type 1 diabetic
why the fuck would I ever play a jrpg if I didn't want to grind
what JRPGs are you playing where you have to grind?
gay lions are very fashionable
let me assist you in your reply to that anon fellow ESL
humor
The quality that makes something laughable or amusing; funniness.
could not see the humor of the situation.
That which is intended to induce laughter or amusement.
The ability to perceive, enjoy, or express what is amusing, comical, incongruous, or absurd.
And I responded that the humor of the game is retarded pop culture references that no one playing today will understand.
ie they are bad.
I liked how hard the Work Design games were. Why would I want to play an easy JRPG when I could have one putting the screws on me.
Jesus Christ, you people need to learn to read and expand your vocabulary.
Let me rephrase that post.
"No, but I'm not gonna pretend that the Lunar games had bad voice acting. I'm also not going to indulge in your dumbass blanket statement about dubs."
There - a more middle-schooler and ESL-friendly take on the post.
That shit wasn't hard.
You were just a stupid kid.
Because you're not autistic and just wanna chill and play some turn-based shit?
no, you responded by giving a defintion of humor that wasn't relevant to what the previous anon posted
I agree with the statement of your current post however
his post was poorly written and left ambiguity between whether he found the humor bad or whether he was going to humor the other anon
I don't think a more concise post is unreasonable
his post was poorly written and left ambiguity between whether he found the humor bad or whether he was going to humor the other anon
No, you just don't know how to read. The word "or" clearly separated two ideas in that sentence.
modern ironic weebs and elderfags who both legitimately despise anime and any hint of Japaneseness in Japanese media and actively watch dubs, play games using dub voices and want everything to be Marvel tier quips
kept WD fanfiction "localization"
Shan't be buying
Total ironic weeb death
WD didn't even make its games harder because they thought a challenge would be more fun, they did it to counter rentals. They weren't the only company doing that shit in the '90s (NA Streets of Rage 3 was made harder for the same reason) but they were definitely doing it in the most widespread manner because ALL of their games had that bullshit.
WD didn't even make its games harder because they thought a challenge would be more fun, they did it to counter rentals.
No they fucking didn't. WD didn't sell their games as mass-market commodities to begin with. They sold them as collector's items - distributing them in limited quantities and often going nuts with packaging and goodies so they could sell them at a higher price.
Yes we all know Working Designs was a dogshit company.
This is nothing new.
There's a part of me that wishes I had skill with and time for RPG Maker so I could make a game built entirely around dated pop culture references that start small and build up through the game until eventually the plot is incomprehensible because every line is just a smartass quip or nonsense pop culture and dated cultural and news references. Call it Designworks or something.
lunar was too mediocre of a game as a whole to even begin judging the quality of the voice acting and the localization.
Its not your job to "spice up" a game that's not yours, Vic.
they did it to counter rentals
source?
sorry I prefer the working designs version, stop remaking and remastering games
I prefer the working designs version
Fuck off Vic.
Did they leave in the guy that talks like Austin Powers?
I've yet to have time to really sink into the remaster. Absolutely loved the originals back in the day though. Lunar's not just my favorite JRPG series they're the JRPGS that remind me why I like JRPGs.
just a censored version of Working Design's fanfiction
Tragic. I'll just wait for someone to make a re-translation patch. The new VAs don't really capture the campy vibes, either and sound about as generic and directionless as modern anime english dubs.
Unfortunately "retard" became a no-no word like 15 years ago because mothers didn't want to get their feelings hurt when their tard wombs spit out tard kids. Though I wonder if that'll change because retard has started making a comeback. It should, retard is a great word.
Did they keep the weird fart fetish stuff with Myght?
i'll probably get around to playing it one day but the new phantom brave just dropped on pc.
much as i loved lunar 2's story the gameplay wasn't really that interesting.
I've been waiting to share this since Anon Babble died and came back.
drive.google.com
These are the higher upscaled bromides in Lunar 1-2's remaster.
It's bigger than it would be since I left the original DDS format in, but you can just pick the jpg versions if you want.
