Mechanically there are some very questionable things about the game (being able to parry from all angles is "cool" but is honestly not very satisfying in the long run) but some of the shit you can do, like MP charging off your own LV3 fire spell, was cool as all hell.

They probably will just change what weapons the magics are based off and call it a day. For example it'll be a rocket launcher and flamethrower instead of a sniper rifle and shotgun.

It's okay at best and "Our first time trying out Unity" at worst.

Combat initially starts out with you feeling like it's gonna be a Souls game with ranged combat where melee recovers your MP and the first two bosses sort of reinforce that, but the instant you get Thunder you basically just steamroll the game from then on because of the time slow and absurd damage paired with ease of recovering MP from melee in the slowed down time. All the spells from that point forward are pointless because of just how good Thunder is. The Keyblade boss and the final boss have some great fights though.
Exploration is mostly linear and there's nothing to really deviate to. There's a few hidden areas here and there but nothing interesting to find outside of upgrades to your spells.
The story is barebones and the lore in the collectibles is laughable in how tonally different it is to what you're doing in the actual game. It's like about slaves and dolls and murders by the church while the game itself is just a girl running around a castle.

The game is at its best in the lava area and the sky area. The game is at its worst in the "I lost my hat" aka "My first Unity project" area and the shortcut back to the start of the game area.

Greedy companies will not pay max dollar for a Artist when they can just AI generate the art for nothing and pay some Mexican or Brazilian artist to edit it for pennies. I know you dont want to hear that, but since you brought that concept up you should know that each AI summer has came with massive layoffs and human job loss.
