Bros... we're finally going home...
Maplestory Classic
Maplestory having their very own Renewal moment? lmao
HP washing
PQ tracking
RMT advertising
FM price fixing
P2W gacha/exp coupons/pet loot
Descending Orbis/Ludi towers on foot because the scroll quests are a pain in the ass
All the cool high level gear being completely useless because of stat requirements so everyone is running around in sauna robes and work gloves
Horrific balance
Zakum prequest
Training at zombies from level 65-200
Home...
Haven't touched this game for 14 years. Played from 2007-2011, before it became a solo screen-wiping mobilegame.
Hyped to try this classic thing next year, finally.
What's this game even about, explain it to a zoomzoom like me
oh shit right
this was announced while Anon Babble was done and we didn't had a thread for it
2D level grinding MMO with light platforming elements. There were many other Korean MMOs like it during that period, and really MS isn't that remarkable outside of being the biggest success of them in the West by far.
What are we thinking for 1.0? I'm hoping we progress through the patches, starting with some point before 4th job release and going to PB release. Is Nexon brave enough to do classic+ once we reach a certain point, or will we park right before cubes and call it a day?
you acting like these are a bad thing?
I still don't understand why 2D Sidescrolling MMOs didn't become more of a thing outside of Maplestory. They have such a strong social quality because the camera is up close with the characters.
there's literally nothing wrong with the zakum prequest
Haven't played an MMO in over a decade. Are Anon Babble guilds as bad as people say? I don't have any friends to play with
no Anon Babble guilds can be fun.
Don't bother unless you enjoy killing the same monster 100k+ times for hours on end. You can try it, but don't expect to love it. Very charming game on the other hand.
grew up in an extremely abusive household
all i wanted to do was use the 2000s web, play web games, and especially play MMOs
i never could
only MMO i could ever really get into was Club Penguin because it doesn’t have quests that require long playtime and session continuity
now
$10K computer with ultrawide AND a high-refresh comp monitor
living in my favorite city
anime and vidya conventions coming up
FF14 still popular
revival projects for WOW, RuneScape, MapleStory emerging, revival projects for Club Penguin already popular
Finally have a chance
Someone give me a hug.
I will be pissed if they don't add up to Ludi PQ at least. Ludi wasn't added until a few patches and it would suck to be overleveled by the time it does come out if they're going off the original patch order
I wouldn't mind it being absent at all, it would be an interesting change of pace from the usual vanilla private servers.
Ludibrium is a great area, but I haven't played pre-Ludi Maplestory for 20 years so it will be fun going back to the really old meta.
The JQs are fine, but getting there is tough with low HP characters. Ironically squishy Wizards have Magic Guards, and Cleric has heals too. Thieves can use Dark Sights. Warriors have high HP and Spearmen can use HB too.
Archers and Gunslingers are fucked in the two maps trying to get to the JQ part. The Cerberus in Cave of Trial I and II hits hard. You can die in a single hit.
"no Anon Babble guilds can be fun" or "no, Anon Babble guilds can be fun"?
the latter (forgot the comma).
I was in NotAgain on Royals back in 2015. There were a few dramas but overall it was a really fun nostalgia trip.
Don't wanna bother reading.
What year is the server based on and what does any of mean?
And spoonfeed me a class list.
WonderKing online
THE ABSOLUTE GOAT OF 2D MMOS
Sued into death by Maple Story devs because too similar to Maple Story but with better QoL
Long live the king...ow.
sidescroller MMO
The main draws were that the artstyle was varied and colorful, leaving a lot to imagination. Each map was made with love and care. The social aspects were also done well and it was comfy to grind mobs while talking to new people.
WonderKing was garbage. There was another Maple clone back in 2007 but the enemies are like ghosts and spirits like the ones in Zipangu.
Grand Chase
WonderKing Online
Starbreak
Gunster: Rain of Bullets
Seems like all those who approach the 2d sphere of influence Maple has die out.
But Grand Chase is still alive!
People will eat pay to win slop if you polish the fun parts hard enough.
no one knows but it seems very old
look up before big bang
keep in mind what they did show seems to be pre pirates
That was the meta for classic Maple.
[Ancient live-service game that has been milked to death] Classic
Getting really tired of these reruns.
Will Angelic Buster be in the classic server?
unfortunately not
MS is something I’ve always been curious about but stayed away from due to p2w nonsense. I don’t see the point of a server with less classes and content
you can never go back
you literally explained why in the first half of your post
First 2 will probably not be present, it's not a straight up classic version, it's a remake on the current client, they'll likely remove certain features that were just bad.
Isn’t there already a non p2w version of this game though reboot or something?
I catfished so many dudes on this. Think it's time to brush off xXLuckystargalXx for one last ride...
Private servers. MapleLegends is great. Royals sucks.
It's just a different type of game, modern maple is all about dailies, alts, events, solo bossing, wiping the entire screen instantly and doing 9999999999999 damage per hit, it's a very typical modern korean mmo, oldschool MS on the other hand is slow paced, grindy, multiplayer oriented, doesn't have dailies, no need for alts etc.
They'll never release DFO Classic cause it's a solved game and the ranking mandates for dungeon quests and progression would filter the retards out the leveling part of the game.
Damn.
no retard he's talking about reboot.
because you are not the target audience.
classic maplestory is for people who played classic maplestory and miss it. less classes is a good thing because it harkens back to simpler times. modern maplestory has 50+ different classes, and 40 of them are "hero" characters with a tailor-written storyline. it's a far cry from the charm of having just a warrior, an archer, a mage and a thief.
grindy
this applies to numaple as well.
The big thing old maplestory has in it's favor is the social component. It was a way more social game back then compared to today.
xXLuckystargalXx
you FUCKING bitch...
do you remember spending your christmas in maplestory?
