Woah...
Woah
I miss FFX :^(
undertale isn't meant to be retro just because it uses pixel-art. It's meant to be sort of MSPainty and RPGMaker inspired if anything
WHOA
hmm
SAAAAAAAAAANS!!!!!!
Objectively speaking Phantasy Star IV is probably the best JRPG of all time, not in any one area but on balance and especially considering it's age it has held up extremely well.
comparing a game that came out in the 80s to a game that came out more recently is entirely unfair
Undertale has better combat unironically
And nobody knows what the one on the right is while even the pope knew what the left is
I never even played it but recognise it as Phantasy Star. Couldn't tell you which specifically.
Thats what happens when you name your final boss "Dark Phallus"
The absolute state of gaymers
Never played the right but I bet it's 100% just a generic boss fight that wasn't even properly build up. It has absolutely zero substance. While Sans was build up over the entire game and the boss fight itself is completely unique and special even among other boss fights in the game.
This is the problem with retards, they hyper focus on a detail and think they are right. They are completely unable to consider the whole picture. There are many much more important aspects than graphics.
I bet it's 100% just a generic boss fight that wasn't even properly build up.
It's the final boss of the three previous games showing up as not the final boss.
Sounds potentially cool but it depends on execution. Reusing a boss can potentially diminish the effect of his appearance or increase it depending on execution.
Having your final boss being a silly little guy who can kick your ass is much more refreshing than having it being some kind of an eldritch/demonic/divine being like every other JRPGs
Someone who never played Undertale could assume that sans is just a normal boss fight too. Is this supposed to prove something? No it's a shit argument in both directions.
So go play it
Having simple designs that even children find attractive is the formula to creating a cultural icon.
Oh yeah!
I have that game. Thanks for reminding me!
Watching it on youtube the boss fight of dark falz doesn't look special at all. You could show both dark falz and sans boss fight to a complete stranger to both series and sans would look infinitely better each time.
It doesn't have much more than those graphics.
It's not even the best JRPG on the megadrive (Lunar and Lunar Eternal Blue are infinitely better).
Its gameplay is no better than PS2, and the music is crap.
The only thing it has going for it is the manga panel cutscenes which look outstanding.
Meanwhile actual modern retro RPG
pope ''pedophile'' francis never touched the game
What the fuck is this shit? Are indie devs really like this?
The funniest part about the Sans fight is that if you are good enough to not get hit, the whole fight is just two people almost hitting each other.
Shut the fuck up Zoomer.
jesus fucking christ man why am i still in this shithole?
Correct.
I made something that looked like that and people like said it was MS Paint.
The people who played the NES Dragon Quests are like mid 40s or older though, so perhaps not surprising that no one remembers.
Phantasy Star 4 is the only game I never played on the Genesis, unless you include the Sega CD addon.
Dogshit response.
zoomer appeal to cultural popularity of people with no culture
What game
phantasy star 4 was so good. I loved the slideshow cutscenes
I played them and I'm in my 30s. You're off by a decade.
I played them as a kid when they were first released and I am 43.
I knew people who were 5-10 years older who played them as well.
You either played them a long time after they were released or you played them as an actual toddler.
