idk what Bethesda was thinking writing Wood Elves, they dont seem to have any analogous real-world culture comparison, I went with a Wood Elf for my first game in the oblivion remake

cannibals.png - 295x409, 252.65K

lol peple pretend they are hating india but khajit is most popular rase in the game

how the fuck are khajits pajeets
they're more like gypsies

Anon, where do you think gypsies came from?

Literally no one likes the b*smer

Redguards

>fantasy arabs

fantasy pirates actually

Egypt?

Copy pasting real world cultures into a fantasy setting is lazy hack shit anyway so who gives a fuck
God forbid there would be anything original in a fantastical setting

it's been centuries at this point that they're already a different race
or do you think Americans are still British

I love bosmer. Man Skyrim really sucked the soul out of almost every race though. No life in their face. Orcs and Khajiit look good though

oblivion is the opposite where every race are melting and fat. you cant even say that lean and mean guy in skyrim character creation is the same as this midget (theyre both midgets i guess but still)

1.png - 1920x1200, 3.69M

Have you ever created anything? Show your work. Or are you another pseud retard whose entire personality is criticising anything without contributing to the world and being a huge drain on anyone unfortunate enough to have to interact with you?

No

Saar do not redeem the skooma

Wait wait wait, what about Orcs???

you can't say your food tastes like shit if you're not a michelin chef

I'm guessing I struck a nerve if you're bringing out this meme argument

kek, so I was right. you can't even come up with a proper response other than a food analogy.

grim

just a bunch of retarded Forest Cannibals

Aztecs

sorry I made you feel bad about your epic original fantasy setting

Dunmer are Japanese.

You didn’t mention orcs.

Wait till you find what Tolkien based his fantasy races off of.

Is it really true that Redguards are fantasy Arabs? They feel like that sometimes, but a lot of other times they feel more like fantasy Carribean peoples. That's how they felt to me pre-Skyrim. Like I imagined moreso Barbados pirates or something.

Food analogy or not, he's right. Maybe this one works better for your pea brain.

You can't say Dustborn is shit if you've never created a video game.

They're both, mainland Redguards are more Arabic based and the more costal ones are Carribean based.

they are hating

Americans are no longer British but they're still the same race.

Dark Elves are da joos

This is your brain on too much Anon Babble

>Khajiits

just because they rhyme doesn't make this true

Redguard is black racially

The literally are the Hebrews you blathering mongoloid

proof?

Altmer are hebrews through and through. Still can't understand why dunmer are hebrews to you.

Shitty grammar?
Cannot spell?
I think I smell an ESL.

Neither are Jews you absolute nigger mongoloids

Anon, the dunmer are inspired by ancient hebrews, it's not their only inspiration but one of the main ones. Their relationship with the dwemer, is a clear parallel of the relationships between sumerian/babilonian and Hebrews.
The Nerevarine is the messiah for the dunmer, his name is inspired by the word Nazarene. Like you know, Jesus of Nazaret, the literal Messiah.

See And to continue my point. The Messiah appearing during roman occupation (imperial occupation in Morrowind), is no coincidence either.
Obviously is not a 1&1 representation of ancient Hebrews and Christ. But the nomadic/vassal jews of ancient times are part of the inspiration for the dunmer.
The other main inspiration for the dunmer are mongols.

Dunmer are Ancient Jews, Altmer are Modern Jews

Altmers were ottomans in TES 1
I'm not sure of their IRL main inspirations for Morrowind

Gyppos are literally nomadic Indians.
They literally look, dress, steal, cheat and smell alike.

Come from a society where their religion and freedom end up oppressed

Follow messiah figure into the promised land (which in this case is a giant shit hole)

later on another messiah figure promised to return and save everyone, actually does

Half their names are based on Hebrew

Dunmer take inspiration from a lot of cultures but Jews are absolutely one of them

And the Tribunal Temple are the dunmer equivalent to pharisees. And just like the pharisees, the tribunal temple made a pact with the Empire and transformed into a vassal state.

According to Michael Kirkbride, Todd Howard and Ken Rolston, the Dunmer and Morrowind were greatly inspired by the cultures and settings of Egypt, Japan, Conan the Barbarian, Dune, Gladiator, Mad Max, RuneQuest, Star Wars and The Dark Crystal.[241][242][243] Additionally, a large proportion of names of Ashlanders, Egg Mines, and Daedric shrines are modeled on ancient Assyrian and Babylonian names from the third millenium to the first millenium BCE.[244]

they dont seem to have any analogous real-world culture comparison

They dont need too?

>Imperials

fantasy Romans

Imperials are DEI Amerimutts.

Dark Elves

>Fantasy Jews

Dunmer aren't Jews because they worship their ancestors or are polytheists. Jews would call what they do Idol worship.

Gypsies/Roma/etc. are descended from Indians who left India and travelled to Europe. They are pajeets without the Hinduism/scat fetishism.

>dune

I got back into the Dune books recently and yeah Dune's influence is all over Morrowind. Such a kino series.

it's been centuries at this point that they're already a different race

Clearly not as proven by the fact they behave the exact same as indians (try to scam people, shit in the street...etc)

BCE

Gayest shit ever. It's BC, before Christ. BCE is absurd, something important happened 2000+ year ago, but let's just pretend that something important happened, but we are not going to mention it by name.
Anyways, your argument from silence falls flat, because Morrowind is inspired by other things that are not listed, like the Mongols, the mongol inspiration is represented with the shaman women, the title Khan, ancestor worship and their nomadic tribes.
Imperials are Romans mixed with prehispanic Mexico. The old descriptions of Cyrodiil were a mix of the old roman world and Tenochtitlan.
And also the dunmer are inspired by Hebrews not 1 to 1 version of ancient jews.

The Falmer are based on the Welsh

thats the Akaviri though

Wrong again faggo

Bretons

literally fantasy French, slightly fantasy Englush

Redguards

Fantasy sub-saharan blacks + caribbean blacks (aka Jamaicans and Haitian 17-18th century pirates)

Dark Elves

Too mixed to make an historical comparison. Religiously/philosophically Indian, historically Jewish, linguistically pseudo-Latin spelt phonetically, some Japanese inspirations for culture and Meiji-restoration dynamic, Ashlanders = Native americans

High Elves

Wood Elves

No real comparisons due to lack of info. Names are mostly pseudo-Tolkien elvish with some names inspired by latin versions of non-Roman people ie. Mannimarco = Marcomanni

Argonians

pseudo Meso-american and transliterated native american names (aka "Hides-His-Eyes" = "Sitting-Bull")

Khajiits

Fantasy arabs

It's BC, before Christ. BCE is absurd

For fucks sake only some faggot who escaped his containment board would get his panties in a twist about this shit.

Windhelm is an allegory for The Settle of Pale. filthy Dunmer ghetto

Give an inch, they take a mile. Take my righteous BC in your ass next time you get mad at someone for being correct.

Look who is talking, redditor.
It's Before Christ, not before current era. It's even more retarded because BCE still means the same as BC, so why would anyone say BCE, it's stupid.
If secular redditors want to avoid mentioned God even in the most miniscule aspects of life, they should create new eras and years, Japanese style with Showa Era, Edo Era, but with names like redditor era.

Go back to twitter

TES is one of the few fantasy settings to actually try and make unique cultures with multiple kinds of elves, humans and beastmen

DUDE WHICH REAL LIFE RACE ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO BE???

nords are the only really bad ones and I think this trope is because of them; skyrim made that a lot worse though
I miss Daggerfall's celtic, kilt-wearing nords that were mixed in with the viking types, it was more interesting when they weren't a total monoculture, similar to how imperials are all the same now, with no distinctions between Nibenese and Colovians

I don't have an account, you retarded redditor. But I bet you do, you humongous maggot.
Oh no, BC has the word Christ, oh my science, this is the metaphorical end of the world.

Bosmer are I think modeled after Celtic tribes we know very little about. Allegedly (per the Romans who encountered them) some of the druids were cannibals. This also goes with the wild hunt thing they did and such.

All in all they feel kind of incomplete/not that well fleshed out. Which matches how little we understand the ancient pagan societies of Europe.

I don't see anything wrong with trying to discover, what real life cultures inspired the races of TES.
I would say what is wrong is to consider a TES race to be the 100% equivalents to real life races.

BC should be ditched because everyone with a brain realized the "C" is a farce used to conquer the outlander.

the outlander

But The Messiah is literally an outlander, the prophecy of Morrowind is called the stranger prophecy.

"C" is a farce used to conquer the outlander.

Yeah, how exactly?

BC and BCE are used interchangeably lol. You don't need to get your panties in a twist man.

Tolkein is... le hack?!!1/

BC and BCE are used interchangeably lol.

Ok, but if that's the case why use BCE in the first place? Seems redundant.

You don't need to get your panties in a twist man.

And you don't need to be a condescending redditor, but here we are.

Redguards

Fantasy sub-saharan blacks

They literally just took arab culture and aestethics and gave them to negroes

In Tamriel, the Nine Divines, centered on Akatosh and Talos, are a Thalmor psyop—an Altmeri illusion to dominate Nirn. The Altmer, claiming descent from Auri-El’s chosen, crafted the Imperial Cult to bind Men and Beast races to a faith secretly glorifying their god. Talos, a fabricated CHIM-construct, enslaves mortals to a Merethic ideal disguised as a human hero. This Aedric deception erases ancestral gods like Shor or the Hist, aligning Tamriel with Altmeri metaphysics.
The goal: Aldmeri Apotheosis. The Thalmor, through the White-Gold Concordant and control of the Towers, aim to ascend as gods, ruling a unified Nirn. Ancient Altmeri texts and Thalmor boasts reveal their plan: “Men worship Auri-El in Akatosh’s mask.” The Empire, dragonblood-bound, serves unknowingly, while Daedric rebellions and Shezarrine heroes like the Dragonborn might disrupt this Mundus-wide enchantment—if they reject the Divines and embrace Lorkhan’s truth.

file.png - 600x1000, 1.48M

My favorite races are the Argonians, Dunmer and Nords, and I've played Morrowind and Skyrim as all three in that order.

Morrowind excelled at making the Dunmer interesting and they have the best lore in the game in my opinion, and I doubt anyone would really disagree with me. It's the most fleshed out and really feels fantastical and like real mythology at times.

Skyrim is a very beautiful game and the Nords were...okay. Some stuff was kind of cool but other times the cities felt rather unimpressive and samey, and I wish the cities were way bigger like Morrowind cities felt. The Nords really don't have a culture other than like some more germanic / viking inspired take on the traditional fantasy setting. Seeing all the shit about dragon cults and lich wizards and throat-shouting and animal spirits among other stuff made me feel like I got the lamer version of this possible setting.

Anon....

foundation of their race is when they followed a prophet to a foretold holy land

whoops, already people living there, better genocide them

This is literally the story of exodus

begin to follow false gods and get punished by their gods as a result

That story plays out like 20 different times in the bible

a prophesied savior comes, the people believe he is there to cast out the Romans and restore the state to independence

the religious authority refuse to acknowledge him and persecute him

he's not actually there for the Romans, he instead defeats the ancient evil and fucks off

straight up the new testament

The Dunmer are most definitively the Jews and many of their foundational myths are just retellings of biblical events through a fantasy lens.

BCuck will dodge this.

Imperial Cult/Alessian Doctrine predates the Aldmeri Dominion

The Aedric faith of the Nine Divines, particularly the veneration of Talos, is a Thalmor-orchestrated myth—a celestial simulacrum conjured by Altmeri mystics to dominate the non-Mer races of Tamriel. Talos, revered as Tiber Septim who ascended to godhood, is a false et’Ada, a manufactured deity crafted by the Altmer to project a messianic figure for Men to worship. The Thalmor, claiming divine mandate from Auri-El, engineered this Divine Masquerade to deceive the races of Men (Nords, Bretons, Imperials) and Beastfolk (Khajiit, Argonians) into abandoning their ancestral gods—like Shor, Kyne, or the Hist—for a fabricated savior that secretly binds them to Altmeri will.
This celestial Talos serves as a metaphysical weapon: by elevating a supposed man to godhood, the Altmer ensured that the non-Mer races would embrace a theology that aligns with Merethic principles, eroding their cultural resistance. The Imperial Cult, spread by the Cyrodilic Empire, acts as the Mundus-spanning enchantment that enforces this worship, with the dragonblood of the Septim line—a tether to Auri-El’s essence—ensuring the Empire’s loyalty to the Altmeri agenda. Ancient Altmeri texts, hidden in the Crystal Tower, might reveal their intent: “Let the lesser races kneel to our simulacrum, a man-god who masks our dominion.”
The ultimate aim is to subjugate Tamriel’s non-Mer races, paving the way for the Aldmeri Ascension. By worshipping Talos, the "Gentiles" of Tamriel unknowingly serve the Thalmor’s plan to ascend as gods themselves, ruling Nirn in a new Dawn Era where all mortals are enthralled to their divine order.

That doesn't change what I said.
Where do you think real blacks got their culture from?

degenerate furry

"In my world..."

In my world all elves are under 149cm tall and frequently make idol groups that have sex with nordic men for money.

Has anyone ever actually played as a Bosmer?
Like, not as a joke?

Wrong

Yes. Generally exclusively with survival mods and mods that ensure killed humanoids will drop meat.

I have a cannibalism fetish.

I think is really ironic. Redguards were inspired by japanese, Gaiden Shinji is the best example, Kirkbride dislikes Asian people, so instead Redguards are revised in TES Redguard, but Kikbride also wants to include stuff from Star Wars, but Star Wars is heavily inspired by japanese media, the final result only lead Kirkbride to the original idea

Seeing all the shit about dragon cults and lich wizards and throat-shouting and animal spirits among other stuff made me feel like I got the lamer version of this possible setting.

If it wasn't written by Bethesda, I would have assumed this was an intentional and central plot element in Skyrim.

look at how powerful the nords used to be

they preserved their dead to guard tombs

slew every dragon with shout and steel

razed whole mountainsides to build monuments and ossuaries

their unique magic was so powerful that nords never even built defensive walls since they were pointless

it only took 500 of them to genocide an entire race of m*r

and now look at them

weakened by generations of peace

by imperial laws and customs

solitude, the capital has a bunch of elves and nords cheering on the execution of a man who upheld their traditions, branded a traitor

just a bunch of weak, impoverished farmers and the occasional veteran who fought for the imperials who then spat upon his sacrifice with the WGC

even when their religious freedoms are trodden upon and elves prowl the country, murdering innocent people, some would fight their brothers for the sake of "peace"

But then the civil war is boiled down to "ulfric racist" and I can't even blame them because nobody makes these points in-game because they're written by retards. There should be a word for this kind of fiction or creation, where the creator is actually the least capable one of explaining or expanding upon it. They just got lightning in a bottle totally by accident and then failed to capitalize upon it because they aren't capable of it.

Kirkbride dislikes Asian people

huh, so thats why we got 3 flavors of wypipo and a nog

Jews who actually faced consequences for pissing their god off.

dislikes Asian people

copy pasted Asian mysticism for Vivec lore

riiiight.

literally shit

Kirkbride was and probably still is biased against Asians, but biased in favor of black guys.
That's why he bragged about having all Akaviri humans murdered and devoured by the Tsaeci.
What right? If you want me to be more specific, by asian I mean people like the Japanese, Koreans and Chinese.
Read his interview about Akaviri humans if you don't believe me.

where the creator is actually the least capable one of explaining or expanding upon it

Yeah that sums of TES pretty well. They also completely ditched the Nords having a somewhat separate pantheon to the imperials. Nords will reference 'Kyne' and 'Shor' but it honestly should be a much bigger issue considering the religious and ethnic tensions. It essentially all got dumbed down to only Talos worship being an issue.

>Argonians

fantasy Aztecs/Maya

>Khajiits

fantasy Pajeets

Actually accurate since both feather Indians and dot Indians are both into feralshit.

Asian mysticism

You mean Hinduism with a sprinkling of Zoroastrian theology? That's Aryan, not Asian.

We gettin' schizo in here.

file.png - 912x1024, 135.37K

they dont seem to have any analogous real-world culture comparison

why do they need one?

They didn’t piss their god off, in fact they were the only ones who remained loyal to him after he gets stabbed in the back and cursed by the literal of treachery

Dark Elves are Fantasy Iranians.
The Sload are Fantasy jews.

Dark Elves are Fantasy Iranians.

....How?

I wish they expanded more on the Reachmen and Ulfric's sort of pitiful claim to the throne more, as the overall state of Skyrim could have been presented in a more dire light. Instead it feels it was added more as another gameplay sandbox. (and a reason to add two more factions).
Reach seemed to mostly be the only area with most of the very, VERY old Nord traditions still in some effect. Even then, Skyrim might as well be a blanket of conquests after conquests (and if you're tired of that, there was even more conquests) and as such the game should really emphasize how divided the nation was as a whole. Instead it was more invested in jumping hoops for the whole Dragonborn story beat, because nuance would have actually took some effort to write.

I don't think they're all based on historical cultures

Dark Elves

What if Tolkien elves lived somewhere shit?

High Elves

What if Tolkien elves were all about magic, like Warhammer elves?

Wood Elves

What if Tolkien elves?

you either don't know anything about Tolkien elves, or TES elves. I'm guessing both.

nuh uh

why do you people bother replying unless you're gonna add something or refute a point?
you might as well have not posted at all.

There's nothing to refute. They are nothing at all like what you said, and frankly I don't think you've ever read a book, let alone one Tolkien wrote.

Reach seemed to mostly be the only area with most of the very, VERY old Nord traditions still in some effect

They kind of have their own culture. They actually are ancient nede people and not really related to the Nords.

That was sort of the point. It's not like the entirety of Skyrim was a homogenous Nord society, nor we're the Nordic peoples unified in either religion or culture. It just feels like making Nords into such a singular entity hurt the story quite a bit. It's a far cry from something like the Dunmer or practically any other race the writers have introduced into the series.

Oh yeah I agree with that. Like the anon said earlier every time the creators touch something they make it less than it could have been. Colovians and Nibenese? the same. Nords from solitude are essentially the same as the Nords from windhelm besides the political affiliation. They could have done anything, IDK make it so the big trading cities like Whiterun and Solitude are much more 'imperial' worship of shor and reverence to alduin replaced by chapels like you might find in the Imperial city. Anything to make it seem like the Nords are more than 250 pound brutes whos only issue is Talos worship

>Redguards

Fantasy sub-saharan blacks + caribbean blacks

total retard. Redguards are clearly fantasy North Africans/Arabs

Akatosh and Lorkhan are the same entity.

Yes, they make the best stealth archers. Also their lore is interesting because it portrays them as the faerie folk of Tamriel.

that ebony skirt design

what the hell were they thinking

Their spooky all black eyes and weirdness in Morrowind did made me think of faeries/ clockwork elf type shit.

Yeah, a shame they turned them all into generic elves in the later games.

They are a mix of moors, blacks and japanese

Just entered the first oblivion gate after playing all the other quests and getting to like level 30
Is every gate a self contained zone? or are they part of a big ass oblivion map? ty

Redguards

fantasy Arabs

They're very clearly black, they're voiced by black people and they have fucking dreads and afros.

Look pajeet, I do kind of feel bad for how much hate your people get, but you're doing some serious mental gymnastics. People like them because they're funny cat people with accents, and being based on off Indians is OP's poor interpretation, he called redguards arabs when they're clearly based on and are voiced by black people.

I don't know what Bethesda was thinking

I do. It wasn't Bethesda.
It was Michael Kirkbride. He designed them with the idea in mind that "Guys are always ugly little goblins and women are beautiful. Guys suck, women are amazing". Slightly paraphrased, you can look it up that he said it. In fact, I just saw it in a video recently. Somewhere in here, not taking the time to get the timestamp, do it yourself or don't.
youtube.com/watch?v=5NxOjx15itw

Exactly. Arabs are niggers.

They are fantasy Moors(the fantasy includes the black skin).
Again, a Michael Kirkbride special. Leftoids think the Moors were entirely black. He wanted a black power moment, so he made them based entirely off the Moors for Elder Scrolls Redguard.

sarrrr

I'm sorry Pradesh, I don't really hate Indians, but Khajiit are only popular because they're furries and cats.
Their thievery and general dickish behavior is seen more "lol such a cat thing to do" by normies, and furries don't care about their lore they just jack to them.
