I'm not saying he's the Knight or going to be a party member, but the lack of a portrait and sound doesn't mean he doesn't have everything else going for him.

I really hope we get more insight on the greater mysteries at play. Like whatever happened with Dess, what pushed Asgore out of the force, the bunker, Ralsei and Kris's apparent meta awareness, etc. I also hope we get to see Papyrus and a cameo of Muffet. I also really hope we get to figure out more stuff with Asriel and his relationship with Kris for my fanfic.

Chapter 1 Ralsei was fucking great on his own. I really enjoyed him being like an overwhelmed dungeon master running his first campaign and having to deal with players that just did not care for what he had planned. I think if Ralsei and Susie kept a friendly feud throughout the game, I'd enjoy Ralsei a lot more.
After the first chapter, though, all the interesting bits about Ralsei get buried beneath tons of "HECKIN WHOLESOME GOAT BOY!!1". I'm tired of it, man.

It's obviously a ploy to endear himself to the player. It's basically someone in a vunerable position gaslighting himself into being a subservient NPC so this outer dimensional being doesn't fuck up existence.
You have like a month, you'll be fine. It took me three hours to get through Chapter One, and Chapter Two isn't that much longer.
I like Ralsei because he's a good comedic foil for Susie and I'm interested in where his arc could go down the line. I'd like to see him grow more self aware and assertive, not in a "be mean" sense but moreso developing an ego and an actual personality outside of what he's been programmed with, because a lot of things point to someone telling Ralsei to enforce the prophecy and be the way he is.
Maybe. But even if that's the case, I want to see more moments where the mask starts to slip.
That's true. I just think their foil worked a lot better in Chapter One. I guess because Susie's got no reason to really go against Ralsei now, they can't really achieve the same dynamic they had before. But I think there's still room to have some funny moments between them, like Susie throwing Ralsei at the enemy.
I hope that Ch3 gives us some backstory to the Dreemurr home life. The whole dysfunctional dynamic of every member of that family is the most interesting part of the game to me and I can't wait to see how it'll all turn out
I get it a little bit, but I don't think the game did anything to make Ralsei act 'out of character' in ch2 compared to ch1. Of course he and Susie are going to be friendlier as the story goes on, characters like that can't remain static, and the whole Acid Tunnel sequence can be as creepy or wholesome as you read into it. The fandom being completely illiterate on characters hasn't stopped me from enjoying things and seeing characters the correct way.
Alvin isn't in the special Gaster list either, even though QC is, who doesn't have a portrait and sound.

This just makes me wonder how much the name response was influenced by Chapter 1 being released on it's own and not wanting to spoil the names. Surely Gaster would know the mayor's name if he knows about Rudy and QC, yet no such name appears.
Ironically, though I may be coping, this makes me think Alvin will be even more important since the things that discredit him from being so are mostly meta. I personally refuse to believe the Undertale characters will overshadow an original Deltarune character when Toby has stated he wants this game to be seen as its own thing.
