Corporations are run by the out-of-touch rich elite who's only job is to pump the stock to appease shareholders, and GAAS on a surface level seems much more profitable than just releasing a game and getting one sale out of it. Everyone involved has no idea how the industry works, they just greenlight projects meant to theoretically make as much money as possible, even if it makes no sense whatsoever. That's why we get baffling situations like over at WB Games where Hogwarts Legacy was a billion dollar single-player mega success and Suicide Squad was a live service turbo flop, and yet they announce immediately that they are doubling down on GAAS.
