Palworld bros.. it's over
Nintendo scures two more patents agaisn't Palworld
a terminal disclaimer
It's over :(
It’s funny since Pokemon stole the “monster catching” schtick from SMT
might file patents after the fact
actual clown world
Reminder that Nintendo's newest user agreement literally prevents you from suing them
sickening
Three cheers for Nintendo
The fact that their are people here that ironically and unironically will defend this to their last breath is honestly proof this place probably should've stayed dead.
Based as fuck
Fuck palchinks
Only makes it morally justified to pirate any and all tendies games.
More Piss World tears. Keep'em coming
man nintendo wants pocketpairs fucking blood
whens the last time they went after an entity like this
Based
Ok but EULAs are not held up in court because they are one sided contracts.
agaisn't
esl
Palworld already made their scam money with their scam game. What do they care if it gets cratered now. Unless Nintendo actually take their assets why would they care.
Kek Palworld triggered THAT much? Good luck touching Mihoyo's pokemon
Can sue AFTER the patent
How in the actual fuck is this legal
And they copied Smash from a konami game
Deal with it
It would be cool if there was at least one japanese oldhead judge who would call them out on this bullshit, but I guess that's wishful thinking.
The last time they sued over a specific game was Tear Ring Saga
They lost that case after trying to appeal it to the Supreme Court
in the US it'll be patent busted with prior art
I don't know how it works in Japan but apparently you can cry harder and it'll go your way even if there's prior art
Genuinely what the fuck spooked shitendo so much about Palworld and why does the entire legal system support bullying small companies by big ones
Never bought a jewtendo game and never will, will keep pirating every single one of them.
That makes no difference if you're not a real customer moron
no they didn't, they stole it from ultraseven
In America, you can sue anyone over anything at any time if you give a jew some money. The legal hurdles just to get a dismissal is enough to get most smaller companies to heel and submit to larger bullies
this and the switch 2 prices and the piracy crackdown makes me think that some suit in there is trying to crash the company with no survivors.
actually my great grandfather caught a mouse when he was 7, they stole it from him.
Keep shitting in your diapers nintodler, still not buying.
Let the low IQ have his "epic win", anon.
Funny to see palniggers switch from smug bullies to crybaby bitches in a matter of weeks.
This is revengefag won.
Based. Take that shitty knock off dev out of business. That's what Redditors get for supporting it.
Genuinely what the fuck spooked shitendo so much about Palworld
Nothing. Literally.
It was never that they saw it as a threat but more that people constantly blew up their social media accounts saying shit like
WOWOWOW THIS IS HOW POKEMON SHOULD BE NINTENDO TAKE NOTES
and of course they ended up taking notice and discovered that Pocket Pair actually ripped shit off.
t. Nintendo poo shill
but apparently you can cry harder and it'll go your way even if there's prior art
That's how it works in the US anon.
Also prior art won't mean much when the first instance of the mechanic functioning as they made it would be Legends Arceus.
Jewtendo's target audience is nostalgia simps and soccer moms now. Both love being controlled if it means they get to have a "safe" experience consuming their slop
Nintendo relaxed too much and they are seeing competition appearing everywhere
Nintendo saw Palworld was doing things Nintendon't, and filed for patents AFTER Palworld released in order to be total faggots over it. Yes, Palworld deserves flak for using uncannily close designs to Pokemon; they aren't Chinese, so they can't get away with those discount K-mart designs. Nintendo however also deserves flak because holy shit the pettiness is off the charts. If Nintendo wants to sue Palworld, they need to do the exact same over every other game with monster taming. Cherrypicking shows that they were intimidated by a game thrown together in a blender that just happened to work.
Smash was on the N64 anon
That game was on the next generation of consoles
This is revengefag won.
The fun part is that he lost, hard.
What he tried to do was falseflag as a butthurt pokemon fan and then spam his posts over and over.
they need to do the exact same over every other game with monster taming.
Okay, name another monster tamer to copy a mechanic that was patented two years before the release of the game like palworld.
How long has that game been in Early Access anyway?
How much will nintendo seethe with honkai pokemon
They won't.
lmfao rip palslop
You mean the outfoxies?
youtu.be
Bigger company hires lawyers trained to stall for time until smaller company runs out of money to pay their lawyers, wins by default. Small company folds, both sides lawyers make bank.
That's not how that works by the way.
Won't this negatively affect anyone who want to create games that use this patent?
These patents are way too all-encompassing and generic.
Based. Bankrupcy and layoffs incoming.
we not to be mess with, remember than, snoy
do not challenge again
nintenGODs own this industry
Pokefaggot cope
The patent trolling only was successful because palwolrd devs are also nips anywhere jewtendo influence wound not work.
Won't this negatively affect anyone who want to create games that use this patent?
No, they'll either actually do some work and make their own version because patents aren't all encompassing and generic but extremely specific and very hard to copy beat for beat without intent.
wtf that's based
keep seething we won
We
Poor cultist lmao
Nope because they can do something else.
They are still seething with genshin and mods keep removing them kek
spinless
Released in Jan of last year and there have been a number of big area releases, especially the one in December was huge. We should probably have one more island area and then the world tree island/area before game’s world is complete. Well they added crossplay recently too.
Thread last night was anti corporate bootlicker
Now all of a sudden there are tons of pro jewtindo posts during prime India hours
HMMMMM
they got humiliated by literal whos
it was funny seeing nindrønes screeching about a better game
in the long run, this isn't a good look for pokemon and nintendo, but nintendo knows they have cultivated a huge army of retarded pedophile animal fucker manchildren (sv's sales prove it)
anyways, pocketpair only got screwed hard because it's in that shithole with falling birth rates
jewtendo won't do shit when roco kingdom and that hoyo's monster tamer game release
There's a reason that WIPO is upheld by lawyers, rather than creators.
Copyright, patents, trademarks, etc. do not benefit creators, they benefit publishers, holding companies, NPEs and other entities that contract law firms to engage in a lot of bullshit clerical work.
All that is accomplished for an artist through IP law is that they are placed into a worse bargaining position against any publisher, since their work under that publisher becomes something that they have to bargain for.
Palworld is shit, but making derivative shit is just normal human cultural evolution and we have been fucked as a species ever since the widespread adoption of globalized IP law.
That is basically how it works.
Creative Labs sued Aureal to bleed them of money and even though Aureal won, Creative Labs still ended up acquiring Aureal because they ended up drowned in legal fees.
This kind of shit is why we don't have sound cards anymore.
wow, this is EXACTLY like smash bros. down to the health bar. that's insane
tendienegroes genuinely think this is some highschool bully shit
kek lmao
get revenge'd, nerds
pooworld's gonna get shoved into a locker and there's nothing you can do about it
Won't this negatively affect anyone who want to create games that use this patent?
No, you just make your flight/gliding different to the patent. It's that easy.
kek now it all makes sense
OH NO NO NO FROMSISTERS...
Pocket Pair actually ripped shit off
They're literally applying for patents after the fact. How is it a ripoff it the patents they're protecting didn't exist until after Palworld was out?
They applied for the patents in 2021, they just expanded on them more recently
lol Nintendo is going to sue them into the ground!
you know he's not gonna remember this, why even bother
he's already had this explained to him 10's, if not 100's of times
gamefreak is so fucking incompetant it spawns pokemon clones
one starts taking off big time
nintendo shits its pants that the cultural relevance of their cash cow might be challenged
leagal team go!
uhhh yeah anything similar to pokemon is actually our patent so now we sue you :D
gamefreak continues to put out dogshit shovelware tier pokemon games until the sun burns out
fucking amazing, I love a subpar product beating out something new through legal fuckery
This blue noodle mindbroke shitendo hard
Nintendo is gonna be laughed out of court. You can't file patents after someone else has released something here and then sue. They have evidence they released the product before the patent.
Nintendo should kill themself
wait til you find out how many pro-human innovations have been shot down in the past because it threatened pharmaceutical corporation profits
the entire patent/copyright system is the perfect nightmare of corpo-legal union
Your noodle is getting cooked
PALSISTERS, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Based Chillet
The Company is engaged in the Real Estate Industry.
Nice try.
sony.co.in
...I think the most harrowing part is not even the whole "We will gut Palworld of features with patents" thing
The most harrowing thing is that every big developer (That can be considered respectable) is so dependant on nintendo's market share that no one tried to come out and say "Hey can you please not fuck ALL of us over by trying to kill your neighbour mate?" because of how blatantly retarded the patents are.
If the aforementioned devs had at least a little bit of conscience this entire thing would have been a massive PR nightmare for nintendo even with Japan's retarded patent system because that effectively makes nintendo a monopoly on basic gaming features, like the gliders or moving platforms.
People look at the entire "Pal vs Poke" conflict and fail to realize that we're on the verge of an even bigger gamedev dystopia about to emerge.
nintendo slapping down my chinkshit pokemans clone is literally like stonewalling the cure for cancer
These threads are really weird everyone is just pretending not to know what’s going on and dumping copy pastes
genuinely, yes
that's how patent-copyright laws work
only nintendo hasn't outright assassinated the developers (yet)
Doesn't matter. Because of Legal fees as anon at mentioned, Nintendo wants to suck all the money out of Pocket Pair to court.
Nintendo is gonna be laughed out of court.
Hahahahahaha! You Hahahaha lmfao you REALLY thin- teeeeeheeeheeeeheee you gotta be kidding hohoho-HAHAHAHA!
Why is Nintendo so scared of Palworld?
They have been laughed out of court multiple times in the past.
Because Palworld is a better game than anything Gamefreak has released in years with superior creature designs.
NTA, any examples?
Game Genie is the main one.
Imagine you're an inventor. You just invented a new thingamajig. A month later, you're granted the patent for your thingamajig. However, within that month, a rival inventor created their own version of your thingamajig, and already started selling it.
How do you respond?
Choice A: "Oh well, they beat me to market, before I could get my patent. I guess they win".
Choice B: "I own the patent, so they have to remove their product from the market".
If you choose A, you're a cuck.
scared
Do you know why patent lawyers/companies with excessive patents are called "patent trolls?"
Because trolls in the non-internet sense "guard the bridge" which means they do nothing but extort people who would try to do something that otherwise wouldn't be penalized.
This isn't fear it's just a standard corporate practice.
if we pay these lawyers $2,000,000 then the company next door as a 67% chance of not making $3,000,000
so the math checks out totally worth it
How based can one company be?
I think throwing any object to catch any moving object is all encompassing and generic, but that's just me.
When it comes to game mechanics, there are only so many ways to make something both unique and good. It's unlike the art creative space, where there are near infinite possibilities. Mechanics involve a certain level of engineering. And as they say "you can't reinvent the wheel". When you find the engineered design that works well, then that's all there really is to it.
This idea that you can patent a specific method of flying in a video game is absolutely ridiculous. I'm normally an advocate for patents and copyright when it comes to artistic works. But for game mechanics? They can fuck right off. What they're doing is wrong.
Patenting game mechanics is fucking stupid and stifles innovation.
those "user agreements" are paper thin and don't hold up, especially outside of the United States. There was the guy almost choked to death at Disneyworld and tried to sue. Disney wanted to throw out the suit because he "agreed not to sue Disney" when he signed up for Disney+. Disney dropped that argument though in the face of public backlash
It was the guy's wife, and it was an allergic reaction to a meal they specifically told the Disneyland restaurant beforehand she could not eat, and she actually died.
wasn't that his wife who was allergic, and died as a result?
Load of bollocks
Patenting game mechanics is fucking stupid and stifles innovation.
Putting someone elses game mechanic in your game isn't an innovation
you're probably right
I thought she survived. Anyway the outcry was so bad Disney decided to settle. Not because of decency, but because of money.
When there's not a living generation that remembers hardship like the depression then things get kooky
This isn't a palworld thing, AAA acts like a mafia and if you step on their toes they will do what they can to fuck you in the ass.
nintendo patent trolling palworld
balatro forced to change its age rating to 18+ after the game awards meanwhile gacha games are 12+
schedule 1 getting copyright trolling by rival drug dealing games
It’s not a troll if your stupid American laws created it.
Maybe instead of complaining you should fix your dumb Americans laws. This is not a Nintendo problem, it’s an American problem.
Drug Dealer Sim was infinitely better than Schedule 1
Schedule 1 was just the fotm that blatantly made a drug dealer sim game.
but I remember Drug lord.
it's all drug dealer sims.
who gives a fuck
Nintendo was always evil.
Was it really ALWAYS evil?
inb4 the hundred replies on how nintendo deserves this or how pokemon is somehow worthless to gamers.
You either protect your IP or you let people blatantly rip off your game until there are a million+1 clones destroying your brand.
anon patent law started in 1474 and just like many laws from back then there are a lot of outdated features within the law that people now use and abuse. America had a similar problem with housing laws a few years ago. Someone could enter an empty house, stay in it for a few months, then become the owner of it. This was a law created during the wild wild west meant to help people crossing the country on horse back giving them a place to sleep during the long grueling journey.
make a temu version of a superior japanese game made by a superior japanese company
chang gets rekt by superior japanese company like the usual liveleak vids
i am so shocked... shocked!
Why are you waiting to have a patent to start selling?
Having something as basic as gliding in your game =/= protecting your IP, retarded tendie. Palworld actually had unique gliding mechanics for each glider pal too it was more innovative than anything Pokemon did.
damn nintendo really out here admitting they can't make a good pokemon game, so they have to resort to bullshit
Holy shit Pokebros, this is a big win for gamers all around the world.
We will NOT tolerate thieves in our hobby. I'm so fucking happy right now!
Yeah
Lick that boot harder faggot
Why is Nintendo so anti-consumer?
actually look at what the patents are
Well looks like someone is getting sued by Microsoft and Sony (note: Microsoft by virtue of being the number 1 OS developers, including funding form the US government, have enough money to outlast Nintendo’s own lawyers)
To be fair they can't make any pokemon game because gamefreak own pokemon.
It's gamefreak who can't a good pokemon game
Because they are the video game version of Disney, if this thread is anything to go by Nintendo even has their own version of Disney adults.
nintendo owns over half of pokemon
Another win for NintenGODS
And yet both halves are bad.
Nintendo gets stomped in America on the regular. They only pass this bullshit in Japan.
And yet both halves are bad.
yes, see:
keep skimming these threads for an alternative to both Palworld and Pokemon because I don't like either enough to actually play them but their 3D art style is appealing to look at
at least one person keeps bringing up shit made by Chinese mobile/gacha devs
is this really how bad it is
the last monster tamer I truly enjoyed was Monster Sanctuary but that's 2D
That’s mostly because there are bigger video game companies in the west.
Though Nintendo actually lost a lawsuit in another country against a store named mario.
They are held up in court in America which is why that eceleb has been fighting for game preservation in europe and third world
You'd think they would put in the dev team actually competent people instead of gamefreak if they had any say in the matter
Lol what's next, are they gonna sue all the italians named "mario"?
"Oh Boo hoo Nintendo aren't letting some scumbags rip them off oh boo hoo boo hoo"
cry harder, I thought this was Anon Babble not tumblr or resetera.
because they're based
consumers are faggots
By the way he's at 440k signatures with less than 2 months left
Somehow looks worse than my own game.
nintendo is just as inept
A victory for trans rights
Funny how he is going after Ubisoft, when Nintendo is the real killer of games.
Corporate cocksleeve
There really isn't anything that can replace pokemon if you are looking for that feeling specifically. There are many games that have cute animals to collect and battle, play one of the SMT games or DQ Monsters if you want that specific feeling.
Azure dreams is really cool there's also a ROM somewhere that adds in a post game dungeon. Maybe I'll try to beat it again soon.
Pretty sure it’s around 40%. Ownership of pokemon is split between Gamefreak, The Pokemon Company and Nintendo. Pretty sure the entire purpose of TPC was to prevent Nintendo from having a controlling stake.
remember, since pokemon doesn't let you transfer any mons you can't get in the main game anymore, there is no reason not to pirate their games.
They actually straight up stole Ultraman monster cries for Red and Green.
That game is nothing like Smash Bros. that is just a Neogaf astroturf to defend PSASBR.
I'm pretty sure it is Dragon Quest.
Japs are literal bugmen
Neogaf astroturf
wut. Neogaf is pretty tolerable now ever since the troons left
It's over
I have interest in checking out Neogaf or Resetera. I'm saying that this is a retarded comparison to make to defend a deeply flawed game regardless of the inspiration.
It is. Cry harder tendie.
Sort of, but these things are selectively enforced. It's not like trademarks where you are obligated to defend them. It's advanced level kikery.
game is not sued cause of the designs
it's getting sued cause of some mechanics that thousands of other games use
clown world
Exactly if they were sued for trademark violations nobody would care, but Nintendo instead went for the most absurd attack against them possible just so they now have an excuse to shut down any competition.
Nintendo is definitely crashing and burning this coming gen.
The question is can they recover like they did last time.
The patents are specific but they are stupidly specific. Like I think the gliding one is something like “Using an animal that was captured by a thrown tool to glide through the air.”
Pocket Pair actually ripped shit off
Being able to ride on a flying animal is not ripping shit off
No company should be able to own that idea
There is no world where I agree with you on this. Make a better product god damn instead of silencing others if you're so scared. Competition is scary and you need to be first on any sort of ideas. Eventually all originality runs dry because basic physics are patented.
Why even bother? Palworld removed their version of pokeballs, so they should be fine.
Except in nintendo's case they waited 30 years.
Patents are innovative allegedly
Doesn’t Wow use mounts and gliding animals? Microshit can get dragged into this and slap Nintendo’s shit
The concept of gliding using an animal companion is not a thing created by nintendo
strawman
everyone
headcanon
Damn you guys are fucking retards.
The pal spheres still exist but the patents don’t specify the object has to be a ball. It just says something like a thrown object.
dat fragility
3D mascot platformers have been around forever. Scifi metroidvanias. Star Fox clones too. Outright romhacks, even popular in japan.
Novel idea: make your own game instead of rip-off pokemon?
But you don't throw the spheres anymore right?
What even is this fucking line of discussion. How the fuck are Nintendo getting away with this. This is out of a fucking South Park skit.
I was explaining the legal concept. Not necessarily justifying Nintendo's action. It may seem odd to sue after a patent. But there is reason for it, legally speaking.
win by showing the world how insecure they are
Uh, sis...
I'll never understand why people like nintendo, their games aren't all that special, their products have weak hardware, their fanbase is pretty obnoxious, their lawyers are the definition of slimey... meh, whatever. Just most reason to keep avoiding them. They aren't going to change.
k... keep me posted
April 3, 2025
make sure you remove that next bait thread OP
You still capture the pal using a thrown object, ie the pal sphere.
I'm going to assume you're not a filthy tendie then, because these threads are filled with the faggots
The issue isn't even that. They filed for the patent after Palworld came out. This is like if you invent something, forget to file a patent (or more accurately Nintendo genuinely thought nobody would dare challenge them), someone else puts something to market and only THEN do you patent.
Additionally, I'm even willing to admit that the patent on capturing shit in a ball is at least okay. That is pretty iconic to pokemon. But gliding with your pokemon/pal/monster/animal should never be on the fucking table as a patent you can file, even IF it was captured in a ball
It's so utterly goddamn retarded it's beyond measure. It's like trying to copyright the word React. In fact, someone check to see if those two faggots aren't in Japan that would explain this.
This. Nintendo copied mounting from wow and I'm tired of pretending otherwise.
April 3
A lot has happened since and they got the patents denied like Shaq blocking a three pointer. Nintendo refusing to innovate and rely on patent cock blocking is a petty move. Yamauchi would’ve just laughed Pal world off as a Nothing Burger and Iwata would’ve ignored it completely
Janis Ian - At Seventeen
this and the switch 2 prices and the piracy crackdown makes me think that some suit in there is trying to crash the company with no survivors.
The current Nintendo CEO was a former Pokemon executive in the board room, strictly with an accounting background.
While it's good to know the patent got denied (I assume the gliding one) you're still seeing the effects. Why do you think palworld removed the mechanic? Nintendo's going to keep doing this. They'll keep filing for stupid patents in an attempt to force the pal devs to gut their game of fun mechanics until people don't want to play it anymore. The industry needs to stand against it and stand against it hard.
Why do you think palworld removed the mechanic?
They removed it in the off chance they lose the case so they won’t have to pay royalties.
Nintendo's going to keep doing this. They'll keep filing for stupid patents in an attempt to force the pal devs to gut their game of fun mechanics until people don't want to play it anymore. The industry needs to stand against it and stand against it hard.
If you look at the archive, and search “roll ball,” you’ll see I posted a thread about how they got a patent for rolling a ball/object and having it make a sound. It got accepted in the USA too and I was furious because they could easily go after Bandai Namco or Sega for Katamari and Billy Hatcher + Monkey ball. Said patent was filed in March of last year too
I don't think they'd try Bandai, but they might try Sega.
Again, this needs to be stood against.
Here’s the patent
Explain then.
Because if you don't have the patent then someone else can just buy yours and copy it. If you don't have the ability to produce at the same scale as them, or you need to recoup the R&D costs, they have an advantage where they can take all your sales so you don't see any profit off of the thing you did all the work to develop.
I agree with your sentiment. But my example is exactly the same as yours, save for one thing: the amount of time. I only made the window of time a month. Because it makes it easier to see how it would be justifiable to call upon your patent in that short span of time.
What stops palworld from opening a studio in the US, turn it into the HQ and just outsource developement to the japanese studio?
Thats almost what happened to Valve
you're saying palworld stole patentable concepts from nintendo within a month of nintendo creating them and not having a chance to market them?
get a load of this guy
pull the other one while you're at it
Getting a ton of patents and then suing everyone else over it sounds pretty based if you ask me, who is clearly not Thomas Edison.
You shouldn't be able to patent something in a digital space that's just replicating real world physical acts.
Why do you guys have to catastrophise everything?
lol nintendo you will be put in your place
remenber the wii u era
its starting again
don't give them any ideas
The valentines I never knew
The Friday night charades of youth
Were spent on one more beautiful
At seventeen I learned the truth
If I was pocketpair, I'd set up companies in europe and just copy the game to them.
Then you're wrong. If you think your idea's worth so much file the patent. Don't wait around until someone's challenging your idea on the market
Because that's what Nintendo did. They lost all rights when it's transparent they're only doing this because they're threatened.
Im pretty sure you cant do it that easily, especially if you're a small dev.
You shouldn't be able to patent something in a digital space that's just replicating real world physical acts.
You shouldn’t but they did. The real problem is that in law school, they teach you that you can’t patent things that are too broad; yet companies get away with it all the time. The patent office is either corrupt or incompetent, pick your interpretation
Good. I hope pajeetmon shuts down. We need pokemon to stay on top.
Also I was reading Astolfo hentai while scrolling this thread.
This.
I'm convinced most of this board are just company jeets putting in their shill time.
I have owned every Nintendo console. I own a switch for me and each of my kids. I will never give Nintendo another dollar. Rank corporate faggotry. And fuck you if you have a snide comment for me.
OHNONONO Tendies our response?!
It's literally nothing more than Palworld being a Sony entity and Sony isn't allowed to have Pokemon at home.
they're literally just assmad that they didn't think of it first, Pokemon has been fucking stagnant for years now and plagued with low effort, awful release after low effort, awful release.
Palworld released and completely blew them the fuck out, Nintendo can't have that.
actually ripped shit off.
yeah only Nintendo can do that, nigger.
dev makes game
file patent for why he can't make game
enforce it, now dev has to remove shit from game
The fuck is this dystopian clown world shit?
Okay, name another monster tamer to copy a mechanic that was patented two years before the release of the game like palworld.
Pokemon and Dragon Quest you stupid nigger they're even on the same console.
lol who knew that Mario was actually Jewish
This
This getting traction just means Nintendo can sue more competition.
So you choose the cuck option. Gotcha.
A month is not a long time to wait. Especially if you're not familiar with the patent system, where would you even go to begin the process?
Also, what if you're still performing tests in that period? Sure, you invented the thing, but you still need to ensure quality, so you go out of your way to test, modify, and refine. Meanwhile your less scrupulous competitors rush their version to market. Or, maybe they just have more resources and manpower than you do, so they can complete all the quality assurances before you can by sheer scale of their operation.
I did, I had the Fact Cards growing up.
They started selling Pal plushies in Japan, that's what really set Nintendo off
I found this image by typing "palworld lucario" into google image search.
Shittons of fake nintendo fans ITT
Based Nintendo
Is legal to sue other companies for patents that were made AFTER their game released?
Looks good anon, keep it up
You're starting to devolve into tendie cope. Your example is retarded and you're being disingenuous in your portrayal of the situation. We also don't need a hypothetical
Pokemon came out in 1996.
Palworld came out in 2024. And it was announced in 2021 mind you.
Nintendo filed the patent AFTER Palworld came out.
Nothing justifies this.
Also I love sucking corporate cock
there are shit ton of Pokemon romhack
there are shit ton of Pokemon like games
but why only palworld gets sued
Because they actually steal Pokemon 3d models
Except nintendo isn't using over the Pal designs, they CAN'T Sue over the pal designs.
They're instead suing over the pettiest shit imaginable that 100% applies to them just as much as Palworld when it comes to stealing game mechanics. Worse: Doing this will set off a chain reaction where no one will want to make anything remotely like Pokemon because of how vague and broad any definition they make about catching monsters is despite the fact Nintendo didn't even make it.
Literally anything is legal. That's the fucking problem: It's a mexican standoff in the IP industry that keeps it from collapsing and nobody has fired the first shot until now.
Nintendo can't even say they aren't guilty because they are guilty of stealing the entire idea from Ultraman and Dragon Quest but niggers like are like 2 years old and don't know those things exist.
Then why didn't they sue them for that? lying nigger. They didn't steal anything from pokemon. Shit like the obvious anubis parody here isn't Nintendo's property. It belongs to ancient egypt.
Ninteniggers are so eternally asshurt over a couple of Pals looking like Pokemon that they would rather ruin the entire game industry with patent law bullshit than just accept it's a parody.
Thanks. I'm working on making renders for the accompanying lore website I made for my game (who knew standing up a website only costed a few dollars?) since I had a bunch of lore written up on each location.
I mean, for a budget consisting of a few pennies I found behind the couch, I think my art skills at least convey what I'm going for; if I had an army of professional artists and a multi-billion dollar franchise, it'd look 1,000,000x better.
So according to patent law you can essentially steal someone's idea if you're jewish and rich enough? Why is this a thing again?
Except nintendo isn't using over the Pal designs, they CAN'T Sue over the pal designs.
Stop being delusional, people like you said Nintendo couldn't sue them at all. It's very likely Nintendo will sue over the designs after the patent lawsuit is finished.
Again, I'm explaining the legal justification to suing after a patent. Not justifying Nintendo's actions. You're the one who keeps bringing up Nintendo, trying to put me in the position where I have to defend them. You're getting flustered now, because I haven't been entertaining your outrage.
But to correct you slightly: The patents that Nintendo are challenging Pal World on, are for 3D mechanics, not 2D. So it's not as old as 1996.
Imagine being this triggered by a bucket of thumb drives.
From what I recall the thing is that the mechanic was already patented and the filings are just re-filings to add more child claims.
The "Pokeball Patent" for instance already was granted but if something is important for the scope of that patent comes to mind, a company can amend it because it's tied to the same system.
It's saying
"Patent A was granted, and it has child claims 1, 2, 3, and 4 of different applications of patent A." If you think of application 5 and want to patent that specific application, you can make a request to add it onto patent A, and since it's just an addition to an existing patent based on the same creation, it applies to that creation as well.
The child claims don't really matter that much because as the name suggests they are tied to parent claims. If the original parent claim was not infringed upon, you don't even need to argue the child claim because a child claim is saying, "Everything in the parent, as well as this specific thing." If you prove you didn't violate the parent claim then that also gives you a pass on the child claim.
capture a bird
use it as a paraglider
fall and break all of my bones
also get sued by nintendo as a bonus
Mentally ill tendies will defend this
make a temu version of a superior japanese game made by a superior japanese company
Pocketpair is a Japanese company you uneducated Nintendo-fellating NIGGER I am SHOCKED you haven't drowned in your toilet yet
Again, I'm explaining the legal justification to suing after a patent. Not justifying Nintendo's actions. You're the one who keeps bringing up Nintendo, trying to put me in the position where I have to defend them.
I'm not putting you in any position. All you have to say is "Nintendo is a draconiam filthy corpo and deserves to go bankrupt", alternatively stop replying.
You're veiling your defense of them (which is a defense, regardless of what you say) in "OH I'm just explaining the legal side of things"
Again, that's why I called you disingenuous. Because it's what you're bring.
Can't you sue Nintendo back for copyright abuse in unfair monopoly practices and also for being super mega gay?
because they made some crappy deal with snoy that'll probably assrape them also if they fail to keep up their side
You either protect your IP
It's not even their IP it's fucking game mechanics they didn't invent you uneducated NIGGER
t. got this entire thing explained to him point by point about a hundred times by now but chooses to remain willfully ignorant out of bad faith
Back when I was a kid I used to upload YouTube videos on how to clean GC discs and Nintendo dmca'd my channel so nothing they do would surprise me kek
Cassette Beasts is worth trying if you like turn-based 2v2 battles.
Sure they did kiddo, sure they did
I think it was Sony Music that partnered with Pocketpair so they'll probably do what they did to Michael Jackson.
All you have to say is "Nintendo is a draconiam filthy corpo and deserves to go bankrupt"
No, I don't have to declare my allegiance to your anti-Nintendo cult. You sound deranged.
You're veiling your defense of them
No I'm not. I'm explaining why Nintendo *can* sue. Not whether they *should* sue. Nor whether they deserve to win their suit.
If you don't understand certain concepts, then you waste your time attacking the wrong issue, which gets you nowhere.
he still thinks that concepts are mechanics
lmao
these guys would patent putting the title on the front of the video game box if they thought of it
You're veiling your defense of them (which is a defense, regardless of what you say) in "OH I'm just explaining the legal side of things"
Or, and get this, he's just giving you an unbiased viewpoint looking at things from the point of objectivity.
Meanwhile you're sucking off pocketpair like your life depends on it
So according to patent law you can essentially steal someone's idea if you're jewish and rich enough? Why is this a thing again?
Look up “First to invent” vs “First to file” and the rabbit hole behind it. America was the last first to invent countries until Obama changed that thanks to lobbying from companies on both sides of the political spectrum. Tons of people who actually made something unique and new got sued by companies who copied them and patented their shit after they did. It’s now a complete nightmare for innovation. Also patent judges having monetary incentives to invalidate the patents of small companies in favor for larger companies after a decision is made. Tldr it’s because of greed
Tendies are down so bad they defend patent trolling because it's their favourite brand, that's nuts.
The real problem is that in law school, they teach you that you can’t patent things that are too broad; yet companies get away with it all the time.
Because what they patent isn't broad.
They're patenting their specific method of doing that concept, not the concept itself. It's why Nintendo can have that ball rolling mechanic while Konami has a patent got katamari despite both being the same at their core.
I literally said I agreed with the anon's sentiment earlier. That sentiment being that Nintendo is suing in bad faith. For some reason, that's not enough for your zealots. I have to declare myself apart of an anti-Nintendo camp, and pray for their downfall. Only then will you hear what I'm saying. You're deranged.
Yet another blackpill swallowed, fuck this gay earth man
This is the same company that went after a mobile game because it had japan’s Mobile sector by the balls and brought up inane patents like creating the concept of “casting a shadow of a character when it’s behind a wall when the camera is on it” (from Mario) among other stupid shit. And even when Colopl lost the case because Nintendo successfully argued that mobile phones are gaming devices (that distinction isn’t valid in the USA) and shifted their controls; Dragalia Lost copied the controls and still fucking lost.
You want a petty company? This is it
Don't bother trying to talk sense into them, at this point they're a legitimate anti-Nintendo cult rallying around that idea instead of common sense.
That said, it's only a matter of time before they drink the koolaid
Nintendo is objectively an anti-competition scum corp, there's nothing cultish about being against that lol
Yeah, colopl was a pretty petty company
Because, in The Big N's eyes they profit off Nintendo's IP.
romhacks aren't sold for profit, so the makers are just sent C&Ds, Nintendo can't prove actual monetary loss against them, no one is buying 30 year old games to play in fact romhacks actually helps with brand awareness, Nintendo would only be against then out of the basic protection of their IP so they don't lose it, like how Asprin lost the rights to the Asprin trademark by letting any headache medicine call itself asprin.
Meanwhile every dollar Palworld makes is a dollar Nintendo believes should have spent on Pokémon, even tho it's on competing platforms, in court they'll point to missed sales projections and blame Palworld.
romhacks aren't sold for profit
The large majority that are taken down do make money through methods like patreon or ads.
That's why pokemon fusion and that Mario pokemon game haven't been taken down yet because they don't make any kind of money.
Meanwhile every dollar Palworld makes is a dollar Nintendo believes should have spent on Pokémon
They literally did not care about Palworld until you kids started poking the hornets nest and daring them to sue and would you look at that they're doing what you asked them to.
petty
That video made by that tranny on YouTube wasn’t accurate at all and they weren’t doing shakedowns. I’m saying Nintendo was petty to do all that for Dragalia Lost and in the end the game still failed. Shironeko is still alive and every one of Nintendo’s games failed on mobile because it didn’t meet expectations. Arguing you created 3D shadows behind objects is insane when others have done it before you have.
It’s one thing to suck Nintendo’s dick and it’s another thing to spread lies. You can kiss their ass all they want but saying Colopl was petty doesn’t make sense when they weren’t the ones suing other people for their touch controls. They simply asked people not to copy the UI without legal discourse, that’s it.
Sony Music is Crunchyroll, Animax and all the anime studios. They're making an anime and they game Pocket Pair the starter cash to make the plush animals.
PlayStation and Columbia aren't involved and work with Nintendo on projects like the Zelda movie and PS ports to Switch.
to do all that for Dragalia Lost
It didn't have anything to do with Dragalia lost. Hell, I'm pretty sure the game didn't even exist when they went after colopl.
I'll never understand why you people always have to see it as an X v Y situation rather than just putting a scummy company in their place.
Of course putting someone else's game mechanics into your game isn't an innovation.
That's because game mechanics aren't innovation, period.
What's next? Are you going to patent soccer - except each team gets to field ::gasp:: TWELVE players!
Define innovation
This thread is so shitty like people are arguing nonsense without a basic understanding of the subject
At least come up with a reasonable strawman, like accusing me of just being a Nintendo hater using this as an excuse to shit on them. Which fair's fair, I do hate Nintendo. Worst vidya company presently. I could start listing their bullshit but I'm sure there's always a "legal explanation" for the inhuman shit they do. That's what these threads are like. People shitting on a horrible company and faggots defending them either because they're genuinely tendie subhumans or because they're doing the "epic trololol you mad"?
Meanwhile, again, we've got one of the biggest companies in the industry abusing patent laws and nobody gives a fuck enough to put them in court for it.
I don't give a fuck what Nintendo can do. I want it changed and Nintendo punished for it for trying to abuse loopholes to stifle competition to their shitty games. And anyone with any sense or morals would want the same.
I'm not joining your anti-Nintendo cult
I genuinely am going to tell you you're either against them or with them, because at this stage Nintendo's behavior as company leaves room for nothing else. Stop being a fence sitter and pick a side, or I assume you're defending them. That simple mate.
YOU JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND
Whatever tendie. Kill yourself.
Welcome to every palworld thread ever. No matter how hard you try to talk sense into these people they choose to rage like an onion in a cage instead of calming down and listening.
Just look at this little shit for instance A small text wall but absolutely nothing of worth in it. He's just screeching about how much he wants you to hate Nintendo because he's mad that they're successful.
By the way he's at 440k signatures with less than 2 months left
Doesn't really matter since the EU Commission and the CPCN (Union-level joint body of national market authorities) have recently already put out a set of guidelines documents wrt virtual currencies and the purchase of digital content and services which also touches upon the ownership question, and which flatly stated they consider any attempt to put terms into a contract that would unilaterally allow access to purchased content to be ceased a violation of the existing legal framework of the Unfair Contract Terms Directive and Unfair Commercial Practices Directive.
They're aware.
Moreover; that set of guidelines was the warning shot.
There's currently a trial case running against a small Swedish publisher who is being made an example of.
What synapse got misfired to create a... Allah forgive me... tendie? The games genuinely don't seem fun or good enough to create this much of a rapidly dogmatic fanbase that refuses to criticise anything they do. I used to enjoy tendie games and they will always have a place with me for the nostalgia, but holy fuck some of these tendies are subhuman.
What synapse got misfired to create a... Allah forgive me... tendie?
Pajeet confirmed.
Chillet a shit
How the fuck are Nintendo getting away with this.
Well, anon, it's been rumored for years that they have mobster ties. So, yeah... who knows.
tendie reddit tourist doesn't even recognize a common meme
Oh, it's reddit
I genuinely am going to tell you you're either against them or with them, because at this stage Nintendo's behavior as company leaves room for nothing else. Stop being a fence sitter and pick a side, or I assume you're defending them. That simple mate.
lol. Literal SJW tier ultimatum. Don't you have a intersectional feminist rally to attend somewhere?
I don't give a fuck what Nintendo can do. I want it changed and Nintendo punished for it for trying to abuse loopholes to stifle competition to their shitty games. And anyone with any sense or morals would want the same.
Like the other anon explained: A first to invent system is the most fair. A first to patent system is for soulless bugmen to exploit loopholes. First to invent would allow a person to protect themselves from getting exploited by rivals who steal their ideas, and rush to the patent office. If you want to patch up the legal loopholes, then you should stop putting all of your energy into dismantling a concept that helps preserve first to invent, and instead dispute the notion that you can patent something so vague as capturing and gliding. That's where the real problem lies.
Fuck Nintendo
That actually explains so much...
I know mommy never got you that n64 because it was like 3 months worth of wages in your shithole, but you really gotta let it go at some point
...for your health
The only thing Nintendo is doing is killing off Japanese development. If Pocketpair was a Chinese company they wouldn't be able to touch them. This will make everyone think twice about opening studios in Japan.
common meme
Zoom zoom
Not that anon. But I never heard of "allah forgive me" in my life. And practically put in a double shift on Anon Babble every day.
Well kiddo, turns out erasing the evidence and begging for forgiveness doesn't actually earn forgiveness.
Imagine if nintendo put in 10% of the effort they do trying to sue palworld that they do in actually making their ps2 ass graphics games.
It's hilarious how you're trying to shift the tone of this fucking topic and conversation, and then I'm expect to not insult you for the faggot you are. You do understand the reason you don't get absolutely bullied is because the mods protect Nintendo in these threads right? This, the emulator ones. Even the ones about the fucking sentencing for the guy that hacked the switch.
No matter how hard you try to talk sense into these people they choose to rage like an onion in a cage instead of calming down and listening
It's so damn cute you think you're so much smarter than everyone else. "Oh no those poor nintendo haters, they're just big meanies that aren't as smart and intelligence and knowledgeable as I am". You reek of fucking reddit, and your behavior matches. People understand the issue just fine, but unlike you the majority of anons simply have a working moral compass so the law is secondary to if something is fair.
Again I'm still waiting for you to justify how Nintendo's in the right to file a patent decades after they came up with their thing, just because now they get competition. And no, you don't get to say this is starting with Arceus. Because again, I could give a fuck about the legal details. This is about the morality of the issue. Not that it would matter. Arceus was 2022, Palworld 2024, they still filed the patent over 2 years after their own supposed "innovation
hate Nintendo because he's mad that they're successful.
It isn't hate to be successful when you abuse people's nostalgia to keep making money because the majority of normalfags have no impulse control. It's the reason Disney's still as successful as they are despite how horrid they are.
It's on Anon Babble and Anon Babble mostly, some image of an Arab talking about jews I think
That explains things. I hate Anon Babble and Anon Babble. I wish they were both deleted. THEE worst posters all frequent those boards.
lol. Literal SJW tier ultimatum. Don't you have a intersectional feminist rally to attend somewhere?
No, unlike an SJW I don't worship corpos just because they hold my nostalgia by the balls. You however, can't say the same faggot.
Like the other anon explained: A first to invent system is the most fair.
Nintendo didn't invent fucking shit in anyone's mind but a bootlicker. No amount of cope will change the fact throwing a goddamn ball at a thing to capture it is somehow worthy of a fucking patent. More importantly, that isn't even what's being discussed anymore. Nintendo tried to fucking patent the act of gliding using pokemon/creatures/animals if they're "held in a ball" or whatever other asinine. You people just keep tripping over backwards to justify their behavior, when nobody with any sense would.
Are you that fucking addicted to your own childhood memories you are incapable of divorcing them from the abuse of the law a filthy corpo is doing?
i know right
people who dickrode palworld really had some mental illness
they really thought this chink ripoff wasnt going to get sued
LMAO
yes
You just highlighted the problems I already highlighted, and then told me I'm justifying their behavior. Well anon. That makes 3 times where you've interpreted my posts in an egregious way. So I'm just going to stop talking to you now. You're not mentally equipped to have this discussion. You're too angry. It's making you see defenses where there are none.
What is the actual patent? You could "glide" as sonic with tails all the way back in 1994
So? Nintendo owns the idea since they made it first. Everyone else has to pay up or shut up.
I'm accusing you of defending them because you are. You are playing down the situation as if this is merely a legal matter as if it isn't a corporate abuse of the law that stifles real competition in this industry and encourages the exact kind of decay that lead to pokemon being in the abysmal state as it is. I want this goddamn industry to be good and I want good vidya to play and so long as shit like this is allowed to happen I don't get that.
Further, you keep taking this patronizing faggot tone as if you somehow understand this topic so much better. Bitch you're not a goddamn lawyer and you don't know fucking shit anymore than anyone else in this fucking thread. The difference between you and me is that I'm angry at an injustice and you're STILL trying to defend it and play it down even when you claim otherwise. We can see your posts in this very thread claiming that these threads are worthless because "oh people just get angry at Nintendo in them". You damn fucking right people get angry. They should get angry. What you don't seem to fucking understand is that you not getting angry is what's wrong. You lack the morals here.
Or you know, you're troll. Whichever it is.
Allegedly it's gliding with a creature you keep in a ball One assumes if the creature is a character within the context of the game, it doesn't count. Then again who knows anymore.
So does that mean Ultraman can legally sue Nintendo for a percentage of every cent Pokemon has ever made?
Just change palspheres to palcubes and call it a day. The idea of throwing a big colored brick at an animal to capture it is even funnier than a ball.
abolish all copyright law
Lawmakers thinks about writing a new bill banning X and doesn’t announce it
Do X before its even announced, let alone passed
Get arrested because the lawmaker was thinking about making X illegal when you did X
And that’s fair because?
Also Nintendo didn’t invent shit.
Also also I don’t want patent or copyright laws. They are retarded and should be abolished in the first place.
That won't work. I said ball but I'm pretty sure it's actually an "object"
At least, the original patent about capturing used the word "object"
Including you?
you just know the nigga who designed this saw a drawing of lucario cosplaying as a kang on e621
So what about the million Pokemon clones trannies keep shitting out on Steam?
From the analysis I've heard, it's having one dedicated "ride a mount" button that contextually changes which mount out of a list of mounts (who are characters in your roster) you can ride/unride based on your location.
So for instance if you're on the ground it says, "Oh, you have selected Rapidash as your ground mount, get on Rapidash" then if you jump off a cliff and press the ride button again it says, "You're in the air, and you selected Braviary as your air mount, get on Braviary" then if you fall in the water and press the button again it determines, "Lapras is your water mount, you get on Lapras."
Having a menu of selectable mounts presumably wouldn't fall under the scope of the patent, neither would if your mounts aren't characters in a roster but are instead just vehicles. Hence why Palworld can potentially skirt around it by making the contextual "air" option into a regular glider rather than a collectible monster.
Those ones at least have original monster designs.
AHAHAHAHA
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
The OP claims clearly it isn't about the button. This is purely about using a creature specifically used in such a fashion.
The faggotry is off the charts. And you wonder why Jap video games are in a decline because they'd rather eat each other than cooperate to beat foreign developers specifically China.
Why would you get arrested for a law that wasn't on the books? What would happen, is that they would tell you to stop doing what you're doing. This happens all the time. For a long time, there was a discussion about banning trans fats. And then they finally got around to doing it. Did anyone get arrested for having previously made food with trans fats? No. They just said to knock it off, and everyone complied.
Similarly, with a patent infringement, you would just be told to knock it off.
Abolishment
This has the problem of turning everything in soulless Chinese knockoffs. And it would make larger companies able to steal ideas from smaller companies. Let's say you're an indie developer. You begin to make a game, and you announce the development. Because you're trying to build hype throughout the development cycle, so it actually sells when it releases. What's to stop a company like Pocket Pair from stealing your idea in totality, and putting it out before you can finish yours?
nintendo are assholes for doing this and it would have been better for the industry if they had lost
i hope they at least get bad PR
and yet, palworld and pocketpair are fucking shit and i hope they die
so i'm just here laughing at the shitfest
Pokemon is already a soulless knockoff of itself precisely because it had no competition, and their reaction to competition was doing this.
Also pocket pair is the indie dev in this case. I think people tend to forget that shit.
You guys are being silly but Pokeman really is an SMT clone for kids. It's weird how much it copies
Designs aren't the topic, patents are
So why aren't those being sued?
The OP claims clearly it isn't about the button
It's is, technically. Patents are all about how it works, not what it is so not so much a specific button but the prompts needed to activate it and what it does. In other words if you had two games with gliding with one that works like so
press button > character appears > character increases player's position on z coordinates by (number) > character slowly descends until player is on land
And another where it's
press button 1 > character appears >player repeatedly presses button 2 to ascend to set height of (number) > character slowly descends until player is on land
Then they wouldn't be the same mechanic and they wouldn't infringe upon each other despite achieving the same thing.
But because we're on Anon Babble and people have a hatred for Nintendo all you're going to hear is
NINTENDO OWNS GLIDING NINTENDO OWNS GLIDING WORLD IS DOOMED
It's
This is why you don't phonepost while cooking, kids.
Fuck me.
nta, but laws are retarded like that
So why aren't those being sued?
Because they didn't steal patented mechanics.
Also pocket pair is the indie dev in this case.
They have way more money and manpower than the majority of Indie developers. They are powerful regardless of their indie status. And the question of theft doesn't only involve large companies stealing from large companies. Your fellow indie developer might steal from you just as quickly as a large company would. Pocketpair doesn't seem to have any real artistic integrity. They will copy whatever they can legally get away with. Same with the Genshin developers. So if you remove those legal barriers, then what do you think these powerful, low integrity companies will do? They will take from anyone they think they can get away with.
You're frustrated at Nintendo, so your solution is to create a new, potentially worse problem than Nintendo?
Choice B is how monopolies are created
Pocketpair doesn't seem to have any real artistic integrity.
They don't have any integrity, their whole design process is just copying what's popular, remaking it as much as they can and reskinning it.
The only game of theirs that I think doesn't follow "design process" is that AI art thief simulator whatever it's called and it ended up being liquid shit.
They are Japanese, they are anti-consumer by default.
Funnily enough the mega corpos like Sony and Disney exploited people who did A and didn't patent/copyright their shit.
It's how entrepreneurs are able to grow. Everyone should have the right to profit off of their inventions.
It's way easier to make a case if you have something you can point to like a patent than the trademarks. Pocket Pair doing recolors of Pokemon or slightly tweaking the models might be enough to convince a judge that they aren't infringing. And if they tried to make a trademark case in the US then Palworld can just say, "It's parody" which gives them essentially a free pass to steal designs.
So how long until nintendo creates a patent for something that is already in a game like GTA?
Funnily enough the mega corpos like Sony and Disney exploited people who did A and didn't patent/copyright their shit.
only because they did choice B when they started up.
It's how entrepreneurs are able to grow.
by anti-competitive, even when their version is extremely shitty?
only because they did choice B when they started up
Choice B didn't exist when Disney started dominating
When the invention is novel, sure. When retarded children a decade ago could dream it up, however...
artist's life plus 70 years for copyright is so utterly retarded it's unbelievable
copyright should last a flat 30 years if that
patents should max out at 5 years with no renewal
When the invention is novel, sure
What do you think "novel" means here exactly?
Choice B didn't exist when Disney started dominating
but they did do the same things that Nintendo is doing right now.
That nobody could have possibly come up with the thing using common sense and mashing existing things together.
but they did do the same things that Nintendo is doing right now.
Invest in themselves, be original, protect creator rights?
I think you need to learn more about Disney.
Invest in themselves, be original, protect creator rights?
oh you are funny.
By stifling innovation and creating a stagnant world where the length of copyright ensures we're stuck in a swamp of endless remakes and remasters that all qualify for fresh terms? Sure.
The length of copyright terms is excessive and doesn't help humanity as a whole.
It doesn't matter. Nintendo has the money and the insecurity to take down competitors.
You stupid bot. They're Japanese. We keep going through this, you don't pick it up.
Where is this from
Palworld already made their scam money with their scam game.
*slurp slurp slurp*
Sure. So then for a duration, you should be able to rely on your patent to prevent competitors from undermining your ability to profit off of your invention. What's the problem?
by anti-competitive, even when their version is extremely shitty?
Yes. They invented it. They should be able to profit off of it. If you believe it's shitty, then either wait to copy their thing. Or come up with a legally distinctive version to overtake them in the market.
By stifling innovation and creating a stagnant world where the length of copyright ensures we're stuck in a swamp of endless remakes and remasters that all qualify for fresh terms? Sure.
So what you're saying is that Disney is doing the exact same thing Sony is doing right now
Unless you want to contest the seemingly endless tlou rereleases. Pretty sure it's beating skyrim now.
All of these big corporations are doing it and they are NOT your fucking friends.
The reason you have "Palworld", with all new monsters and an all new world, is for the fact that Pocketpair couldn't legally make "Pokemon" with guns.
The law resulted in two unique IPs existing. What's the problem with that?
wait to copy their thing
Sure, I can do that, but OH WAIT -
I'll be fucking DEAD before that happens. Sasuga copywrong.
That nobody could have possibly come up with
So you don't know what novel means because novel doesn't mean "no one came up with it before" it just means new.
A new concept
A new method
Same thing when it comes to the idea of "novel"
good riddance, palslop
All of these big corporations are doing it
Sure.
Except for all the ones that aren't, including Nintendo.
Funnily enough people hate that square ISN'T doing it with games like FF7 given remake/birth isn't a remake but a pseudo sequel but I digress.
I know exactly what it means, and you're a fucking moron. Combining two things that already exist and are dead obvious to combine is not novel by any definition; see how the USPTO rejected half nintendo's patent attempts.
Nintendo didn't invent anything there is a difference between a patent and an invention, any numerous other game could have patented gliding on an animal first but they didn't because they're probably thought it was absurd and Nintendo is doing this solely to kill a competitor out of spite because they're jewish and have the money to do so.
i hate nintendo so much it's unreal
Don't bother with them,Nintendo is behind their childhoods so they assume Nintendo cannot do anything wrong least it ruins they child-like view of the world. They are a legit cult, and the only way for them to turn against Nintendo is if they fuck up as bad as Disney.
That depends on the invention. For real mechanical inventions, patents don't last more than what? 20 years? That's it.
But for things like the designs of Super Mario and Pikachu? Yeah, you'll probably be dead. But so what? Just create a slightly different short platformer guy, and a slightly different fighting monster buddy.
Because laws in the modern world have nothing to do with justice. They are simply tools for lawyers who will use the ones that their expertise tells them is the strongest.
Oh, anon, you poor fucking tool. Go look at the number of ports and remakes Nintendo releases, I'll wait.
Funnily enough the mega corpos like Sony and Disney exploited people who did A and didn't patent/copyright their shit.
or you like what Nintendo is doing right now?
*honking intensifies*
Kill all the competition!
Praise be to Pikachu!!
So the real problem is that Nintendo's patents shouldn't have been granted in the first place. Not that people can use their patents to profit.
Combining two things that already exist and are dead obvious to combine is not novel by any definition
Yeah, yeah it is.
If you combine something to make something new then you've made something new.
By the way I don't even know what you're referring to because it's Pocketpair that's known for combining two existing things anyway.
see how the USPTO rejected half nintendo's patent attempts.
Do you know why they did? It wasn't because it was already used, it was because they didn't like that they submitted it all in one patent which made it too hard for them to read.
I wish I were kidding about that, the sheer incompetence of USPTO is unmatched.
a lot of video game related patents are granted because governments are run by old people that do not understand video games or the internet.
No, it's fucking not.
I have a better idea, how about you compile a list of first party ports and remake without any new content or substantial changes and I compile a list of original games and rereleases with new content and let's see which list is longer.
shamelessly rip off pokemon
get sued over it
what's the problem here again? We all knew this was coming before it even happened yet the chinese devs went through with it anyway while being retarded enough to keep an office in Japan to pretend they weren't actually chinese
Same with Genshin
See? It's shit like this that outs you as a Nintendo fanboy. You're STILL mad about that.
The problem is that no one understands how patents work and explaining it apparently makes you a tendie.
It genuinely doesn't matter because all remakes, ports and remasters are fundamentally shit and stifling innovation. They exist for the sole purpose of extending copyright terms and you're blind if you don't see that.
USPTO is incompetent because it didn't give Nintendo what they want wah!
The office behind Japanese patents are the incompetent ones here and the EU is the only place that actually protect consumers.
Nintendo won
And yet you're the one crying about Nintendo.
Can you mod the shit they had to adjust back in?
what's the problem here again?
they are suing based on patents they filed after the game was released, not on copyright law. Nintendo is actually worse then GamesWorkshop in this regard.
So you concede.
Understandable, it's not like you can make a list of more than about 10 or so in the last 10 years.
Do you know why they did? It wasn't because it was already used, it was because they didn't like that they submitted it all in one patent which made it too hard for them to read.
I wish I were kidding about that, the sheer incompetence of USPTO is unmatched.
What is this retarded tendie fanfic, this isn't what happened at all. The entire fucking case is public and anyone can google it like I just did.
they have no integrity
If they didn't have integrity they wouldn't admit this is their design philosophy
You pretend as if looking to other games for inspiration and sometimes direct lifting of mechanics isn't a thing everyone does. Just because you do it doesn't mean you can't make a good game out of it, or even a better game than what you're starting it.
I mean, case in point. Palworld's good, and modern Pokemon is utter trash
You're the one that tried to shift the goalposts, faggot tendie.
Forgot my meme arrow I'm taking a shit as smelly as your post
There's only one problem, they filed these patents before the game was released and before pocket pair showed off those features.
Compare Legend Arues and then Palworld a year later and you will understand why
Pokemon copied Dragon Quest originally and just added pokeballs
Sure, we're just talking about Nintendo's output being purely rehashes like Disney. It's totally moving to goalposts to show the frequency of these rehashes.
I bet first party ports and remakes still outweigh the other side.
Not that it's very hard. Nintendo's doing their damnest to kill original games on their platform with the constant censorship.
Oh no! Chris Redfield bros! Our response?
The patents get updated and that's why the dates are recent, you're retarded if you think Nintendo is actually making up patents as they go along and then retroactively suing people
Nintendo's output has been 50% rehashes for the past four years.
Compare Legend Arues and then Palworld a year later and you will understand why
more monsters
evolution
replayability and post game content
more mounts
better physics
Wow, Arceus puts to shame and Palworld had two more years to fix up after PLA released.
Pp made craftpotia with all these feature even before the patent was made.
And just think, If Pal World had added their own gimmick that wasn't pokeballs and made their own designs that weren't blatant pokemon reskins then they would not be getting sued right now
If they only stole the artstyle, I wouldn't say that. But I saw some webms on here that showed they stole attack animations from other non-Nintendo games.
youtube.com
Then prove it. List all of the remakes and ports released in the last four years.
>evolution
They can't do that one because Nintendo patented that. Nint0ddlers are the most rabid corporate bootlickers out there I swear, they try to prove it every time.
You want to know the fun part? It didn't. Craftopia actually had original mechanics to achieve the concept. If they had just copied Craftopia's versions from the start they wouldn't have been sued.
The icing on the cake is that craftopia can be used against them in court showing that they had original versions but chose to steal.
I've been getting the sense that the entire reason Nintendo's so hung up on Palworld is because they specifically aped Pokemon's designs. Like I'm 90% this is all just some petty Japanese pride thing. Like maybe they view Palworld's Pokemon-like designs as a deliberate mockery or something.
And just think, If Pal World had added their own gimmick that wasn't pokeballs and made their own designs that weren't blatant pokemon reskins then they would not be getting sued right now
Nintendo proceeds to create a patent to fuck them over anyways because they hate anything that threatens their monopoly
Honesty if what Nintendo is doing was being done to Nintendo, they arguments would be the complete reverse of what they are arguing right now.
They can't do that one because Nintendo patented that
Must be why just about every other tamer has a form of evolution like Digimon, SMT, Moero Chronicles.
Yep, Palworld doesn't have it because Nintendo owns all of those games.
Nintendo can also remotely permanently brick your Switch 2 if they feel like it.
Nintendo is easily the worst video game company. That's why you should emulate the Switch and also the Switch 2 when it inevitably becomes emulateable due to the Switch 2 running on 10+ year old hardware. It is your civic duty.
Honesty if what Nintendo is doing was being done to Nintendo, they arguments would be the complete reverse of what they are arguing right now.
Nah, people would shit on Nintendo like they always do when they do something wrong like the 2015 censorship debacle, the pricing of switch 2 games or NSO.
But it'll never happen because Nintendo aren't an indie developer made up of people who couldn't hack it at real studios.
Nintendo's been patent trolling far longer than Palworld's been around. Aside from that they are the most litigious company on the entire planet, random 50 sub youtubers have gotten arrested in Japan because they played their games on a stream before. Not to mention I've literally been copyright struck by them for having a Zelda song playing in the background of an unrelated video. Nintendo is just scum, they are the talmud personified and I stopped buying their products years ago because it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Like standing for israel or something.
Sure but Nintendo's never really gotten this obsessed with one company before. They didn't attack Yokai Watch.
Nintendo's been patent trolling far longer than Palworld's been around
The only other instance of Nintendo being the plaintiff in a patent case is with Colopl who was attempting to control the mobile market by filing a patent for something Nintendo owned.
So, no, there's no instance of patent trolling from Nintendo.
Well, unless your definition of patent trolling is
WAAAH COMPANY I DON'T LIKE DID SOMETHING
You want to know the fun part? It didn't. Craftopia actually had original mechanics to achieve the concept. If they had just copied Craftopia's versions from the start they wouldn't have been sued.
The icing on the cake is that craftopia can be used against them in court showing that they had original versions but chose to steal.
Yeah like to be Frank it's fairly blatant they copied Pokemon Legends approach purely for the sake of making Palworld look more like Pokemon.
Considering Nintendo's only suing for $30k they honestly should have just put their hands up and said "Yeah you caught us red handed" paid the damages, remove the game from stores and ride off into the sunset with the tens of millions of profit they likely made. Certainly they've made more than they could have ever hoped their studio would with an Early Access scam they were going to abandon anyway.
Nintendo is easily the worst video game company.
at this point I wouldn't be surprised if some black company shit is going on behind the scenes.
What makes you say that they're obsessed?
you're such a diva lmao
The big shitstorm at the time and still brought up isnt' that though, it's the fact it "stole" Breath of the Wild's exploration mechanics or whatever the fuck.
Also
that webm
the same
That is not the same at all. Similar movements but there is zero chance that's stolen animation. You want a good example of a 1 for 1 stolen animation? Go look at the great katana basic R1 from Elden Ring and compare it to longsword from Monster Hunter.
This shit's taken too long and they're deliberately making new patents just to fuck with them. It's very clear they Nintendo has a personal vendetta against Palworld.
And honestly, I'm not sure if it's not mutual. When I look at Palworld, I can't help but feel like it was made with the intention of giving Nintendo the finger.
But they are the most litigious company on the entire planet right? I mean they put a man in debt slavery, I don't think I can remember any other modern corpo that did that. Surely not in vidya
Also all the take downs against streamers, the emulation shenanigans, and the romhack shit.
steal
Nobody stole anything. Nintendo created nothing. Patent law is a scam
