- Die of 'natural causes': chroma returns to Aline (because she created them)

So the Nevrons are Clea helping out Renoir by denying Aline her chroma. When she eventually runs out of chroma and can't paint any more, she'll have to leave.

He just needed a little push and she was there to give it to him. But when she tries to interrogate Maelle when she's freaking out, it's Gustave who steps in and fixes things, which makes sense because he knows her really well and comes off like a more idealist and sensitive person while Lune might have a touch of aspergers. Characters give and take a lot but stay consistent to their personality in a pretty grounded way.

- I hate the white fog+bloom there is everywhere, it started to make me sick after a while.
- Movement could be better, it's a small studio so it's fine for now.
- Music is really nice, but nothing that sticks out.
- There are some really dogshit maps that look the bland and samey, and some others that look nice, but the bloom shit ruins most of them.
- Combat has a lot of potential but QTEs every single time gets boring, they need to tone it down a lot if they ever make a new game.
- The story is interesting but kinda falls off at the end and the writing dialogue is mid, maybe in french flows better?

Overall i had fun but midway I kinda started to get bored and rushed to the end. They definitely have good ideas and hope they keep polishing their techniques.

Story is unironically the best difficulty because.
1. it lets you learn all the parry times faster and once you learn them nothing is hitting you anyway so the difficulty becomes irrelevant.
2. the game doesn't have anywhere near the variety of something like Mario & Luigi battles so it gets repetitive and bland.
3. Perfecting fights is less rewarding and feels more pointless in an RPG as apposed to an action game.

Basically yeah. At the end of the game the whole world is revealed to be fake, and she's one of the only real people inside it. She was a schizo kid because her real memories/identity were being suppressed by having a totally new life painted over her. As for why she was in the painted world to begin with, it's because even in real life she was a fuckup who accidentally got her brother killed. Mom couldn't deal with it so she goes into the painting to live with a painted version of him and pretend he never died. She then gets guilted into going in after her, but fucks up AGAIN and accidentally gets painted over. At the end of the game they finally manage to force mom out into the real world, but by that point she's so invested in the painted world that now SHE wants to stay inside forever.

Gameplay's honestly the best thing about it. Production value's good for an indie, but you can definitely tell they're leaning hard on the Unreal ecosystem and did very little in the way of totally bespoke assets or setpieces. Story, which is the real meat of any proper JRPG, is mid at best. It has an interesting foundation but the execution is pretty bad and steadily unravels from a solid beginning to half-assed slop by the end. Smoothbrains just like it because it's flashy and "subversive," even though it doesn't actually properly delve into any of the ideas it brings up. See: the fact that everyone is arguing whether the painted people are real, even though the game itself explicitly never deals with that and basically tosses everything and everyone except the Dessendres aside by the end.

He's only partly wrong though. While the game does have an open world all the "dungeons" (for lack of better term) are linear on the paths you can take to get from point A to point B. For example, it wouldn't have killed Sandfall if there were 3 different paths you can take to go from Esquie's room to Francois'.
