What are you emulating?

what are you emulating?

ta2.jpg - 500x500, 39.01K

I heard it was the best one out of the three

SCUS-94358.jpg - 500x500, 39.96K

I've been thinking about emulating the Jack and Daxter games, I never got a chance to play them proper back in the day.

god hand

bloodborne

pacman world 2

yoshi's island

jackal

In the PS2 folder I still have a bunch of jrpgs: Ar Tonelico, Armored Core 3, Radiata Stories, Wild Arms 3 and Ring of Red. On my hacked 3DS are a ton of gba, snes and DS games as well but I haven't looked at it in a while. The last thing I did play recently was starting Metroid Prime 2 with keyboard and mouse. I've been thinking about playing a platformer game lately though but idk what to play.

i was just about to emulate bloody roar 2 to play some matches with my wife shina and ended up downloading legend of dragoon and digimon world aswell.

Valkyrie Profile 2

black adn white 2/

>pacman world 2

ME TOO. its surprisingly good eh?

Played Fatal Frame 1(undub hack) for the first time, enjoyed it a lot more than Silent Hill.

Digital devil saga
I'm in the sewers, this place is huge. how far am I to the end?

emulation

LOL
No thanks I'm not brown.

I can't remember the name of it, but it's a PS2 game with a gargoyle sidekick (pictured) and some hot girl with short black hair

Was emulating Chaos Legion on my Steam Deck but whenever I summon my legion the fps shits itself

I tried to emulate mgs 4 but it ran like shit and I couldn't get the ps3 controller to work

Had fun with ff10. Can’t bring myself to finish 12 no matter how much I say I want to. 10-2 is also… good I think? I can’t make up my mind on it. Also enjoyed evergrace, def jam and I-ninja recently, and will probably be downloading kingdom hearts 1 and 2 at some point. Also I wish they would’ve just used Lulu for X-2 instead of Payne

Anyone got any game recommendations for RPGs or mechs games with high levels of customization?

IMG_5366.png - 235x424, 127.3K

Can’t bring myself to finish 12 no matter how much I say I want to

same anon... same

also ffx-2 is the best combat ever and girls are cute but fuck the story is dogshit

enjoy your 480i, retard

why are there so many of you? I played it 2 years ago and it ran flawlessly at 60fps on a rtx3080/5600x.

gear.jpg - 3840x2160, 576.81K

I think 12s issue is just that the shit is the dryest game I ever played. The locations are (mostly)bland, the art direction is bland, the olde English is bland, the license system is neat but ultimately playing the game effectively is the same as playing the game as little as possible. Character designs are also bland and bad. And I don’t think there’s any really cool chemistry between any skills or systems like ff7s material system. It’s the most forgettable 6/10 experience I ever had.

I do think that X-2s battle system might be the pinnacle of ATB.

Most people are dumbdumbs when it comes to emulation, especially zoomers.

Primal

Nothing. Emulation is a crime. It's also immoral, wrong and evil. I'm reporting each of you to the internet authorities as we speak.

Based.
Also still rocking on my gtx1080 n i7 7700k, 16gb.
Was thinking to buy more ram since 16 doesn't seem enough for never games.

Same. Currently on NG+, will tackle the Seraphic Gate later and probably aim for the Angel Slayer.

I use my pc to make 3d models and shit for uni so I'm need of new parts.

Emulation is a crime

immoral

wrong, evil

You keep consuming and get milked dry, i will keep on pirating and emulating faggot.

emulation is the only morally correct way to play a sony game

SAN ANDREAS

Started playing the original spyro again a month ago on duckstation just for the nostalgia.
It feelt pretty comfy ;3

SAN DIARREAS

FOOL

or any nin10d0h they are even worse. But to be honest fuck all of em even xbox, these piece of shits niggers from microsoft don't deserve my money.

Ratchet and Clank 2 & 3

Everyone should play Downhill Domination.

Absolutely based.

Have a comfy playing fren.

Hey, unfilter those textures. It'll clean up all those nasty polygon seams.

Robot Alchemic Drive
You don't play the guy in the robot, you play a guy running around AND who control the robot
You need to find a good vantage point to see the fight.
In manual mode, you control the two arms with the sticks and the legs with the triggers.
The game was made by the dudes behind earth defense force

sc8qis.jpg - 2749x2160, 456.01K

screw these jerks btw

I've never been into racing games, so I downloaded a bunch of PS1 ones. I started with this one, and it's a lot of fun. I might drop it and move right on to 2, though. I'm not a car guy so I really can't wrap my head around the tuning menu at all, and I have no idea what the difference is between AWD, 4WD, etc. I just know when to gear shift and that's about it. I'm having fun with it though.

I'm curious if I should play the GT 2 Plus hack that has a bunch of bug fixes and added content instead of playing the OG.

file.jpg - 1000x965, 74.59K

I did something kinda wild and played through every single PS1 demo disk I could find. Playstation Underground, Playstation Magazine, Pizza Hut/Toys R Us, every sampler and demo CD I could find on myrient just to see if I could find some interesting niche games. Here's just a small sample of games that I ended up downloading based on the demos I played. Let me know if y'all have played any of these and what you think of them.

C-12 Final Resistance

Seems like an interesting sci-fi third person shooter. The controls were surprisingly not awful so I'm interested to see what its deal is.

Forsaken

Looks pretty much like a Descent clone, which I dig.

Ghost in the Shell

I've heard of the series but know absolutely nothing about it. The demo is cool though. Kinda like Armored Core except you control some kinda robot spider or whatever. Should be an interesting experience.

Kingsley's Adventure

Generic 3D Adventure/Platformer slop in the vein of Zelda. Which is my fucking jam.

N20 Nitrous Oxide

Not even sure how to describe what I played here. I guess Galaga mixed with Wipeout? Didn't play much of the demo but I still downloaded it because it looked cool.

RayStorm

Generic schmup. I don't have many of those, so what the hell.

The PS1 has some very interesting and odd games. It's well worth diving into something you've never heard of. Even if the game itself isn't good, you're bound to have an interesting time.

file.png - 1064x978, 1.06M

jak 1 and 2 have a pc port

Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks
Rtype Final
Bomber man land 3
SMT Nocturne
Those games really shows how complete games on the 2000s feels

r type.jpg - 635x1258, 172.08K

DONT RESPOND, THIS IS A FED THREAD

Does anyone else feels more comfortable emulating games that already have Steam releases

AWWWW FUCK NOT AGAIN

already having a PC port is literally the worst case for emulation, you have a retarded sense of morality

For me it depends. Sometimes ports are scuffed so emulation is just superior.

Modded Budokai Tenkaichi 3 called Budokai Tenkaichi 4. It is so much fun. I hope the modders add Daima characters in the future.

1&2 are ported, but 3 and X seem to run perfectly in emulation.
People meme on the shift to a darker tone, but it keeps the same humor and charm throughout.

slums.png - 2048x1536, 3.31M

I own games on Steam that I'd rather play on consoles. Legacy of Kain Defiance is one of them due to the horrible control mapping of the PC version.
I don't moralfag about emulation. If I want to play a game, I play a game. If I have a way to support a developer of something I like, I'll do it. But PS2 games are deader than dead. If it doesn't have a PC port, I'm not going to seek out a physical copy to ease my conscience. If it HAS a PC port, I'm playing that the vast majority of the time.

Maximo army of Zin.

Ps1 game? Looks interesting wanna try it.

I have trouble enjoying anything in 12. I've attempted to start it twice over the years and drop it very quickly. The only reason I even attempted is because of how vocal some people are about its strengths. I've come to the conclusion that those people are just faggots with bad taste.

we need tools to port everything. fuck emulation

Just finished Pokitaru

The OG really has no reason to be played with Plus and other romhacks existing unless you want to check out some of its bugs and exploits like the fact one of the endurance races meant for beginners (20km of Trial Mountain) has one of its basic lightly tuned oponents replaced for a Vector M12 race car.
Tuning is just a matter of understanding a few basic concepts like oversteer, understeer, acceleration, top speed and such, then from there on seeing what tweaking each thing affects what (shorter gear ratios tend to give you extra acceleration at the cost of a lower top speed, stiffer springs make your car more controllable at the cost of making bumps and elevations rougher to take). The different "wheel drives" refer to where the engine is sending power: front, rear or all wheels and depending on that, the car behavior changes.
Have fun.

As for what im playing, im currently doing another run of Racing Lagoon, and im thinking on continuing with OG Yakuza, been enjoying it so far.

Take your pick

ps2log.png - 486x378, 22.7K

Based take, honestly. Shaolin Monks was such a good co-op experience, it felt like a forgotten gem after all these years. Nocturne still holds up with its atmosphere and challenge, and R-Type Final had that insane amount of unlocks—it’s the kind of game you sink into just to complete the roster. Early 2000s games felt like they were crafted with a sense of finality and focus—you got a full package, not a live service.

Test

Gr 1 and 2 is the best racing game for ps1, it is a really good game.

Will it run Switch 2 emulators?
Thinking of upgrading in like a year.

SO
MUCH
INPUT LAG

Hope you are using the eu version, us replaced and butchered the soundtrack.

planning to start a replay of pic rel tomorrow. wanna try get the other endings which should be easy as I still remember most of the game.

Rhythm game enthusiasts in shambles

God Hand

Dunno. Maybe obscure 2 next but I heard its shit solo, I really enjoyed the first one.

PCSX2 hasn't had any input lag issues in years

any Snowboarding game thats not SSX Tricky or 3

Just about ever snowboarding game thats not SSX is boring trash.

Switch 2 won't be hard to emulate like Switch 1. It'll be interesting to see how/if its gonna work on AMD GPUs as its using DLSS.

Pretty sure Nintendo announced some DRM a while back similar to PC games.

IIRC you can force Nvidia Reflex into any game now using RTSS. If you have input lag today your setup is trash or the game devs did it on purpose.

I’m not paying Steam $40 for a 20+ PS2 game

Nigga it's just video games lol

I don't buy old games on Steam since they usually don't work on modern operating systems without fixing it yourself.

You mean limiting FPS to 59.93 or something else?

you don’t HAVE to say the n-word

someone recorded this and thought it made the game look good

then someone saved it thinking the same thing

Deranged.

a lot of steam (or pc) ports are fucking dogshit so emulating can be better

Mad cuz bad

Just an unbelievably obnoxious game merely to look at, let alone play.

You toggle reflex mode instead of async in RTSS. But it only works for dx11/dx12 games, emulators like Xenia (DX12) and PCSX2 (d3d11 renderer) fit the bill but not OpenGL/Vulkan based ones like CemU or Switch or RPCS3.

Dynasty Warriors 3
4 and 5 are on PC

Cry some moar shitter

More spamming dodge rolls than the entirety of From Software's catalog.

qrd?

I've been on a JRPG binge, the PS1&2 libraries are chock full of them. Currently playing Summon Night 2.

More sour grapes than a purple bag of warheads

It's ok, anon, we can't all be good at Anon Babblecore games

Emulating = stealing
Posting in this thread = admission of guilt
You are under arrest

You have no idea what you're talking about about. Switch 1 was relatively easy to emulate because its chip was well documented from other tablets that used it at the time. Switch 2 uses a custom chip and you better believe they're locking that shit down. If the system can't be hacked, it can't be emulated. They aren't going to bungle it with some hardware vulnerability (like the paperclip method) and you can 100% count out any soft exploits seeing as Switch 1 still doesn't have a soft exploit to this day.

I'm so good at jerking off the right analog stick

Nobody cares. Anon Babble has always had dogshit taste in games.

roll bad

There will always be an exploit.

I've been playing Megaman Legends. As a zoomer who grew up with a PS2, its very annoying not being able to use the sticks. Otherwise its a really charming game with likeable characters, and it looks really good too. I miss when games had unique art styles and they weren't all trying to be the most realistic 600000000000000000000000000000 polygon slop

God Hand and DMC1
I forgot how genuinely fun GH was, holy shit. Still hits the same after all these years.
DMC1, however... Yeah its DMC1

Demon's Souls
Shadow of Rome
Ape Escape

2.jpg - 1024x576, 201.31K

You can remap the controls you know

tfw remembered how hard the Vita was locked down

a bunch of autists sat down and found an exploit to prove they could do it

Sony even left them a fucking message for the eventuality when they reached kernel access

actually very funny
youtube.com/watch?v=j-ZWHGSvY9Y

this game came out before dualshock controllers, and even if there is a way to bind the camera turn buttons to the right stick, that would probably feel even worse to play.
I've just gotten used to strafing a lot and using R1 L1 to turn the camera, but its shitty

OOOOOOOHHHHHH

5286527.png - 777x739, 970.88K

I don't care! That's why I keep replying!

Shh baby shh
It'll be alright
I'm sure you're good at something else

There's still no exploit for Xbox One or Series X. PS5 is also unbreakable all these years later. To this day, the only exploit that wasn't bootrom related for Switch was only for an old ass firmware version nobody owns anymore. At least with PS3 which used to be considered unhackable has multiple exploitable firmware versions you can downgrade to with a NOR flasher. Nobody is downgrading Nintendo Switches since they use physical fuses that blow on every firmware update.

Blown out colors

lol YouTube cheaters from SEA

spam backroll until you can do the same launcher

spam square (it's okay when shit hand does it) until the boss does an attack, then obviously spam backroll

Just summed up every shit hand webm ever to exist.
They're the only ones who play this dogshit. Third world console, third world game, third world players.

I played this a few years ago, it's so fucking hard.

It's funny that god hand has a dedicated schizoposter
No one will ever like Urban Reign my guy

I love that series too (specifically 3) but I dunno about every other snowboarding game being easily skipped because that series was so good. I've heard good things about Snowboard Kids and 1080.

DMC began with 3
Kamiya is a hack

my guy

Not surprised at all a shit hand "fan" would talk like this.

If you enjoy charming games, you might want to check out Brave Fencer Musashi. But I should warn you that it gets very hard near the end.

71XzzgWYhuL.jpg - 1159x1000, 142.5K

What an amazing game, good choice anon.

That sounds sick, I'll check it out

Also I'm pretty sure Reflex is just a couple of milliseconds, meanwhile with PCSX2 it's internal lag for several whole frames

PCSX2 hasn't had any input lag issues in years

Yes, I'm sure American vernacular makes you very upset saar.

It's zoomerican vernacular.

Scooby Doo, night of 100 kinos

Mold.jpg - 2560x1281, 387.02K

Playing Xenosaga episode 1

fucking GPU crashes

find out that apparently this is an going issue nobody has figured out that exist on all 3 games for decades now

What the fuck were they doing with this game's development?

More like 30-something millennial vernacular, but I get that you people are a generation behind

Zoomers are anyone under 50.

I'd say "oh no it's retarded" but we already knew that

Zoomers are anyone born between 1997-2010, making the oldest zoomers 27-28 and the youngest 15-16.

Boomers call 'Zoomers' to anyone younger that is retarded.

Try again, this time in English

xenosaga can corrupt your save

thought it was a pcsx2 issue

the xenosaga undub progect's readme text file says it can happen on original hardware too

persona 3 also has a similar save corruption bug

imagine playing a long ass jrpg and your save getting corrupted. good thing for save backups and savestates.

no, boomers call anyone younger than them millennials. Gen x calls anyone younger than them zoomers.

I've emulated ps2 before but I'm not sure if it's 100% better than original hardware. For games where atmosphere is very important like in horror, I'm concerned if anything is lost.

Does it corrupt that individual save or does it corrupt the entire memory card like Soulcalibur 3?

press f9

Doesn't matter because with PCSX2, you're forced with certain settings if you want the game to run at all.(Looking at you Silent Hill 2)

the top 5-10% of games are usually better than original hardware
the rest is still ISSUE, ISSUE, ISSUE, ISSUE, where you toggle between hardware mode and software mode for different problems in the same cutscene

I know this 4 year old boomer, though

Drakengard

How well does Dark Souls run on Xenia Canary?

Burnout Revenge

I got filtered by the Forest zone

I put PPSSPP on my phone to play peace walker at work. Runs perfectly even with a 60 fps patch. Next step I wanna sucker my coworker into doing it to do we can get the adhoc multiplayer running.

I've only had a few games where I can't use my defaults (cranked up to 11). The biggest issue I've had is sprites for HUDs and shit looking ugly, but it's a small price to pay for the rest of the game looking pretty good.

Downloaded God Hand, Sly Cooper, and Drakengard

I just played through the three Fatal Frame games on default settings and haven't really noticed any issues besides ghosts appearing kind of fucked in 2's cutscenes

Most people saying PCSX2 is bad never configure it. If it plays games properly there is no issue, but people are too lazy to set it up to do that and then get mad. It's fucking mindless

Lol. You do realize the same goes for any other emulator?

Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest in Fortune Street Special.
Really wish the game had a complete translation patch, but at least it's playable. Have a shitload of fun playin' it with the family and friends. Also really wish we got more fortune street games over here.

The other emulators aren't as popular so hardly anyone bitches about them.

it used to have obscene input lag that was my main problem with it

mario kart wii deluxe

I've been emulating these 2. Lost Odyssey hasn't crashed once for me but Fable 2 has crashed a few times. However, I've been able to play it for several hours without crashing.

GT4 Spec II
because I'm too lazy to do 1000 miles in the Triumph Spitfire 1500

see , Although PS2 emulation has come a long way, the Jak games were always notoriously challenging and still don't perform perfectly smoothly on AMD hardware. The actual ports(look up "OpenGOAL") also have graphical enhancements that go beyond the simple resolution upscaling that emulators can provide, while ACTUALLY performing flawlessly.

Gradius V. I come back to this game every few years and I'm really enjoying it now after playing most of the other games in the series. Feels like a perfect blend of Salamander and Gradius with its own uniqueness too.

its really difficult..

hows the loading times with lost odyssey? I heard it was bad on consoles

It is. It becomes less difficult though when you understand just how ridiculously small your hitbox is.

It's not that bad, loading is pretty quick

Jak games didn't emulate well because of mipmapping and the eye bug but they were never that demanding to play.

I haven't been emulating anything recently aside from a bit of MHGU, but I recommend anyone to check gregory horror show for the ps2. cute, charming horror game where you steal souls from your fellow guests in a spooky hotel. the guest are all passive until you steal their soul, then they try to kill you, and the more souls you steal, the more guests you have trying to kill you at once.

based spyro GODS. I just finished 100%ing spyro 2 earlier today. fuck that ice cave orb minigame with hunter
i hope we can get a fable 2 recomp some day

Primal, top tier snoy exclusive, I miss games like this.

Back in the old old days the game used to misreport framerate, so it'd be chugging and stuttering along but act like everything was fine. As for more recently, my 6700 XT wasn't quite able to hack it at 4K and had weird performance issues(strangely enough it seemed to do best on OpenGL which makes no sense because afaik AMD still lags behind Nvidia there even though the gap has closed considerably).

In any case, performance questions aside, the main takeaway should be that the native PC port vastly outclasses emulation. Plus you can literally transfer your PCSX2 save to it so there's no reason not to switch even if you've already started a playthrough.

Childhood is thinking Spyro 1 is the worst because it has the most primitive graphics and is a pure platformer with no extra shit tacked on. Adulthood is realizing it has the most soulful and unique level design that actually differentiates it from the pack, and all the extra minigames in the sequels are superfluous trend chasing anyway.
