Small groups with large megaphones get all of the attention and can cause a lot of disruption if you try to just ignore them. Same thing with abortion really in the US. The radicals on both sides of the issue are a small minority but they get all the attention. Most people actually have a more balanced view on it, but you wouldn't know they exist the way the media amplifies the activists.
