Yeah, why not? I played Dota 2 on and off for 13-14 years and had a blast. It does take a long time to git gud but its not like you cant have fun while doing so. I got my friend to play dota 2 in the final year I was playing, he had a little bit of league experience but he still ended up liking it and even now asks me to play with him.

The only reason I stopped playing is because now that im old in my mid 30s, I dont like needing to fully commit 40 minutes on average to a game. It's not that I still dont play games for long ass periods of time but if I want to get up to go do something else, I wont be penalized the next time I come back. I stick to playing single player games or something like Fortnite where games typically last 20 minutes and if I leave im not punished for it.

Still though, if I was a young kid again, I dont doubt id play Dota for 8+ hours again like I used to. It's a fun game.

You used to learn through experience and tests, and now you're supposed to study the wiki.
They make the rules simpler and simpler so they can pile in more and more rules.

If you are willing to suck for dozens and dozens of games then yeah you can still get in.
Outside of the top ranks, games are populated by people who peaked years ago and are no longer improving. You will catch up to them reasonably quick if you care enough.

Feast or famine hero, either is untouchable or goes 1/15, only carried by his annoying as fuck Shrapnel facet that gives him a ton of early damage for kills but loses his lategame vision. Pos 4 sniper is far more annoying early with chip damage but gets fucked late.

Im glad that shit is gone. The chance of getting a good SB was 1/10, so majority of the time you had a guy playing really shitty "support", meaning they throw down 1 ward and then suck dick in lane until they get MoM and feed.

"wealthy supports" is the mentality that ruined League of Legends and I will push back against it every time in Dota.

Refraction got buffed and that synergized with the facet that gives her more damage for each refraction stack that gets removed, at least that's how i think it works

I've been muted since 2016. Once you get below a certain behavior score it's impossible to get out because players can report you for the simplest things

It's the greatest game ever made, and I played thousands of games from all sorts of genres. It just takes too much time and effort to play and brings out the worst out of people because it's just so stressful. Still, it's the most beatiful game ever made, and playing with a proper team elevates it to something that cannot be replicated.

i got to just under 5k a while ago, have been doing nothing but turbo games and currently sitting at 8.3k. when you consider that it's 15 games per behavior score calibration it's a lot of turbo matches
it's possible to climb, i proved it, but i played nothing but pos 4 and assisted with warding. pos 4 never gets blamed for anything unless you feed. helping out with wards/detection makes people happy. i also never initiated communication

When I first started playing Dota back in 2013 I was very hesitant because I thought it was some kind of a strategy RTS game but when I played with friends I realized it's just counterstrike with top down view. I don't know how to explain but as a FPS competitifag gamer I never thought I'd get into Dota but somehow I really loved it. I play it to this day sometimes, it's just so much fun. I don't necessarily "strategize" well I simply have a good feeling when to move where to move and when to initiate/disengage. For me Dota 2 is not a strategy game but a 5 v 5 shooter.
