So do we have to rely on the french now to get more kinographie for the next games?
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
masked woman
woman
it's so obviously maelle
they even spoil it because you here alicia's theme when you play the piano as maelle
Not just the French. Europe produces KINO all the time.
Disco Elysium
CO:Expedition 33
Blasphemous
It is just differnet types of KINO.
youtube.com
Obviously. And the game doesn't even treat that as much of a revelation, because she literally removes her mask midway through Act 2 and you can clearly see that's Maelle with a fucked up face.
The question isn't "is she Maelle?" but "why is she Maelle?".
Renoir was right and painted Alicia didn't deserve the suffering she was subjected to
Correct. I'm glad the game let us choose the objectively correct ending instead of forcing us into the bad one. Alicia is a selfish cunt, wrecking her actual family even more than the fire by wanting to LARP.
get haircut
Maelle classic
Verso begging her to end him at the end was painful.
If youre not a brainlet anyone could've guessed that but there's still a twist in how they're really connected
he's a bit of an ass but I don't blame him, his existence is honestly a great Sin, especially since its blighted on him by his own Mother.
No. It's time to play the piano brother.
what a uniquely dark way to do evil to someone you love, really sells just how good the narrative is that Verso getting his wildest dreams made reality, is in actuality depicted as one of games best horror endings.
thats why i hate him
in the end its "me me me" with that fag
So who made the mimes
probably clea, that chick is a psycho
if you can't see why he's like that, your some sort of empathy-absent personality disorder adjacent freak.
How the fuck can you play the whole game and think Verso's motivation is just "me me me"?
Don't talk shit about my wife.
DLC with Gustave, Painted Alicia, and Clea when?
I want a DLC of Clea fisting the Writers
Gustave would hate those two people, especially the more he knew about them.
both of them essentially toyed with his little painted universe like uncaring, unfeeling Gods.
The writers. The world is a poem about the (magic) family tragic. Don't you think it's a weird coincidence the number 33 is everywhere?
Why would he hate Painted Alicia? She did nothing wrong.

Third ending DLC will come.
You need to move on, François. She isn't going to sing for you again.
they even spoil
they aren't spoiling anything retard this isn't game of thrones they didn't bank on some muh le epic tweest to subvert expectations
the story is literally all there to follow its not a fucking mystery novel
and it's great because of this
she doesn't care one whit that Painted Renoir goes on slaughtering sprees, is why.
no way, i expect they will try to rebalance ACT 3, but thats all
maybe some extra hats too
Francois uses the strongest ice attack ever
Everything he did on face could be viewed as selfish from the narrow perspective of the painted world but outside of that he is helping her get over her guilt and move on rather than suffer with him for seemely ever until the last of real Verso's soul fades.
Versofags be like
Can't you see he's suffering? Don't you have empathy? Now excuse me while I snuff out thousands of sentient lives but it's okay because like they aren't real unlike the magic rich family lol
Nah I don't think they will do any rebalancing. If people want to break it, they will let them. They pretty much said so themselves when tweeting about the Stendhal nerf
he never says they aren't real, he just knows that the painting is fucked, Renoir is going to destroy it the moment he can, its all over, all that can be done is saving Alicia from her mental problem, and obviously ending his own suffering.
Nah, some rebalancing is in order, becsuse I managed to oneshot the final boss ans robbed myself of the spectacle without even trying to minmax or grind.
aspiring writer speaks in poetry
François cries dramatically
sentient
Maellefags on high dosage delusion juice again
Saying "Millions are a Statistic" isn't wrong.
When does the scene occur where Clea has these painted eyes?
Also, does the 'white' color to some nevrons and the painted versions of the family just mean they are incomplete paintings and need to find their own meaning?
Maellejunkies are something else
When does the scene occur where Clea has these painted eyes?
Her very first appearence.
only 1 solution to this problem no compromises
Typical Versofag justification. We introduced magic paintings but figuring out a solution without genocide is just beyond us.
English dub
French dub, English sub is the only correct way to play this game
Alina and Alicia are literal junkies, there is no fixing them if they think they still have a chance to go back to the canvas.
there's NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE, in the painting you can't do SHIT to the outside world, Renoir will destroy the painting the moment Alicia leaves, or dies in it.
simple as that, there's no compromising with him, he's VERY fucking clear.
When you first see her during the "epilogue" in the real world as Alicia she has the painted eyes for a brief moment before the paint fades away.
there's no fixing them
nothing can be done
it's the only way
It's all I hear out of you people. God forbid you ever run into a problem that doesn't have an easy solution in real life.
name it, how exactly is anyone to stop Renoir from destroying the painting.
solutions require means.
It sucks that the best ending's outfits are only unlocked for Lune and Sciel. You can get this hairstyle for Maelle in the tower, but not the outfit.
this
Anon Babbletards always just scratching the surface
Alicia pretty much admit it herself right after the final fight with Renoir. Verso tells her she lied to her father when she said she'd leave the canvas after some time in it, and she didn't deny it. This is all in game information.
Renoir doesn't want to lose his wife and his daughter on top of his son, so he WILL burn the canvas at the first opportunity.
Sounds like a cope for not linking the narrative the game presents.
And if you refuse to engage with the narrative presented, why care at all?
Otherwise your just a fanfiction subhuman that should go back to LiveJournal.
There is literally nothing stopping Maelle from making her own canvas world populated with the people of Lumiere + the non human characters. It wouldn't be any different than in her ending when she brought back characters like Pierre who she couldn't possibly recreate in the same way she brought back Lune and Sciel at the start of Act 3.
Oh I agree, they SHOULD rebalance it but they won't. Act 3 is the most egregious but you see it even earlier. Just pump AGI/speed and realize you have like 5-6 turns before any enemy goes and the game is a joke.
When the violin starts going crazy
she's an addict, and mentally unwell.
it isn't logic that drives her or can work on her.
Act 3 is the most egregious but you see it even earlier.
This. Sirene was the last fight that actually had some semblance of gameplay for me. Renoir + Paintress got in about 1 attack each before getting folded.
electric guitar joins in
game starts as a typical JRPG where a random Joe goes off on an adventure to kill an evil god
Steam forums have daily threads of people sperging out and dropping the game after either the act 1 or act 2 reveals
This was a bold narrative.
I wonder if Nier Automata had the same drama with 2B's death? I played it a few years after the release, so no idea how people reacted.
Renoir just didn't want to shell out for his wife's rehab.
Funny because this is literally what made the game 10x better for me.
oh well, its your usual go kill the evil god shit, pretty kino tho
what the fuck its not over ? There's more ? FUCK I REALLY KNEW NOTHING, WHAT THE FUCK
WHEN DOES THE RIDE STOPS ?!
Rehab doesn't work for people who really enjoy their drugs/gambling.
t. my dad
1. she's likely not skilled enough to make her own, it's easier to just paint over an existing canvas whose Painter is not around anymore
2. the game can't make it any more obvious, it's not just about living a delulu fantasy, it's all about not wanting to move on from Verso's death whose soul is within that and ONLY that canvas
they didn't bank on some muh le epic tweest to subvert expectations
Literally every chapter has a "le epic tweest to subvert expectations" you absolute retard. God damn.
Just don't use 1HP hyper mode builds. I'm not using those setups and the game is fine
And now that they fixed Stendhal and Medalum Act 3 is not that broken either, you can't shit out tens of millions of damage every turn anymore
The Clea fight where she regens 500k hp every turn was actually pretty challenging for me, it doesn't help that her combos are like 6-8 hits and always some random ass enemies, so I would whiff half of the hits and die lmao. Eventually got her down to like 25% and then Gommage was up and that finished her off. I was level 84, max upgrade weapons
Sounds like you don't like JRPGs. That's fine, but that's not what a lot of people bought.
WHEN DOES THE RIDE STOPS
French ESL shill. Yikes
nothing about this game is subversive, its a literal Painted World in actuality and presentation from the ONSET.
the fact they are quite literally in a painting isn't a twist, its an expalantion of this obviously impossible and incompatible with real physics world.
the game doesn't have twists it has reveals.
what said
yall retards use cookie cutter nuke builds and complain about balance
its an RPG you always establish your own balance with your tool choices
i bet you also use summons and complained Elden Ring was too easy
you didn't beat the game btw
durrr main character dying at the end of act 1 isnt a twist, its a reveal!
durrr everyone dying after killing the bbeg isn't a twist, its a reveal!
Shut the fuck up retard.
I went from thinking they were the same person to thinking they were sisters
a character dying is not a twist, its simply a development.
twists are subversions of everything you thought you knew, a lie, or a lie of omission.
you were never promised Gustave to live.
I personally can't get behind twists/reveals that go against the initial theme. The game very much pushed the theme of legacy, what we leave behind, for those who come after, ect. Only for the theme to then turn into yeah actually you need to let that shit go to move forward. Even with shit like the Grandis they talk about even after the fracture they try to keep their culture alive. It was a theme I was very on board with but by the end it isn't even part of the conversation between Maelle and Verso.
exposes himself as a retard
none of these things are a twist
expeditioners low life expectancy is something established all throughout the prologue, if you genuinely didnt expect anyone of the main cast to die you're actually a retard
the fact that Paintress is the good guy protecting everyone from something far worse is also something that is established as a theme all throughout the game, Renoir literally can't shut the fuck up about it
you're a moron who doesn't understand what "twist" is
People were also speculating since day 1 that Gustave was going to die because even as early as the first trailer they never showcased him in high HP battles. Gustave dying wasn't really a twist at all.
I thought they were twins desu, Alicia and Aline (=Maelle). I knew the name Aline from all the songs, but had no idea that was the paintress.
Also, immediately at the start of Act 2 you can grab the manor track record from one of the areas near the Dark Shores, and it's called Our Painted Family which is a big spoiler I guess.
no shit, his fucking callsign is "For those who come after"
the first act is called "Gustave" for fucks sake, he's earmarked for death from minute one.
Elden ring is different in that there are no difficulty settings so you're more inclined to make your own balance as you said.
A game with difficulty settings should work towards balancing the highest tier of difficulty around utilizing everything you have at your disposal. Thereby exercising your mastery of the game's mechanics to the fullest. You CAN make your own challenge as I'm doing right now with a no picto/lumina run for my 2nd playthrough, but it doesn't feel good to fall ass-backwards into a build that just trounces the the end game. At least not on expert mode.
I wouldn't call Paintress a Good Guy, she's just not who they think she is.
there's really no major force for Good here, just people being toyed with, and the powers that be, scrabbling over their toys.
I mean, Nier Automata did the exact same thing with the "Glory to mankind" being the equivalent of "For those who come after" and spammed everywhere, then they reveal that humans went extinct a long time ago.
i mean good atleast from creation perspective, because she is benevolent to them
i know that Aline is doing it less from the desire to do good by them and it's more about just preserving Verso's creation but still, people of the Canvas benefit from Aline being THE Painter regardless of her motivations
really cool how painted renoir has the exact same motivations as real renoir (muh family) but due to their different positions results in them taking opposite stances in the whole narrative.
People who don't like stories with twists that recontextualize everything have low IQ.
nothing stopping Maelle from
did YOU even see the fucking ending bruh?! have one last gander at how FUCKED gustave and all the rest look like because SHES A TERRIBLE PAINTER. all EMOTION GONE from EVERYONE, INCLUDING HERSELF. YES SHE COULDNT EVEN REPAINT HERSELF PROPERLY. HER 1000 YARD STARE AS SHE CRIES INTO THE VOID... YEAH THAT'S YOUR COMPETENT MAELLE.
making her own canvas [BEING THIS INEXPERIENCED]
trapped in pitch black limbo any% WR
I've never played it and was never going to because I could smell from a mile away I wouldn't be satisfied with its conclusion. Don't want to shill but Metaphor is a game I completed recently that had a theme is followed through completely and had me feeling good about the conclusion. Maybe I just don't like tragic endings but despite the fact that I did complete e33 my motivation to play it kept slipping the more the game shifted themes. I went from enthralled to apathetic.
Snk doesn't suck because of the "twists", it sucks because the the final arc was genuinely garbage.
its a high tier horror ending, Lune looks like a fucking thousand yard stare PTSD war vet, Verso looks like the most broken man alive.. its amazing how well it was done.
genuinely garbage
You don't even know what that means. You're just bandwagoning with Anon Babble chuds.
It's seriously fucked up if you think about it, Francois lives his every waking moment thinking about Clea, desperately hoping she will come back and play with him again, meanwhile she has no reason to consider him anything but a distraction from her childhood and has no reason to ever visit him again
Like when you're a child and you think a toy might feel bad that you don't play with it anymore, but then you grow up and realize it's just a thing, it has no feelings, you can leave it behind without any guilt
But in this case the toy does have feelings and because you don't play with it anymore, every second of its life is pain
I get that some twists might feel like rug pulls (e.g. Undertale is another big one), but at the same time, if a story is obvious many hours in advance (like Metaphor), then it won't be gripping either, at that point you're just going through the motions.
Oh right, not like she could learn to paint better and then do it herself. Not like she has a mother that could teach her how to paint the same way that she taught her husband.
This ending was unironically Lynchian
This shot lives rent free in my mind.
They really nailed it.
Good characters is all I need to stay invested really. Too bad most of the characters I liked in E33 didn't get a say in how the game concluded.
actually.. yes, it was lol, your right.
Clea's mentality to Painting things is honestly the most sociopathic of the whole bunch of them.
and I'm fine with the Verso ending and the painting being destroyed, with the understanding that they were real, and that it had to end regardless.
but Clea believes they are nothing, and deserve nothing.
That's some Little Prince shit you're talking about. You should read it if you haven't yet, it's another French story but a children's book (though with surprisingly heavy themes), very famous.
en.wikipedia.org
because its legitimately art, the game as a whole is completely high art, but that ending is a literal masterpiece of Artistic achievement.
Horror and beauty at perfect intersection.
watching the ending again and it's actually hilarious how true that is
every person in her painted world wears the same thing, has same hairstyle and anyone who is not her important friend is literally NPC tier carbon copy
and i don't believe this is just devs cutting corners, this is fully intentional
i think in the very first hour when i started playing i was immediatelly bugged why Sophie and Emma look so uncannily similar
then i thought the same about Gustave and Renoir and Verso (at some point i genuinely thought its gonna be some sort of bullshit timeloop story about Renoir being future/alternate Gustave or some shit)
it's because whoever painted them is actually not that great at painting people
i think likely Clea, she doesn't usually paint people, her workshop is just full of Nevrons which is basically dead nature in essence
Well if you think about it Verso's painting is just one of hundreds that the Dessendres have created
She really has no reason to consider it special
but despite the fact that I did complete e33 my motivation to play it kept slipping the more the game shifted themes. I went from enthralled to apathetic.
Literally me as well. I can appreciate what they tried to do and can understand why people enjoyed it, but... I dunno, it just didn't work for me. By the time the epilogue rolled around I was pretty checked out and it became a bit of a chore to finish, though I still enjoyed the combat.
Yeah that's why it's the best ending. Verso fags BTFO
youtu.be
How do I move on from this game brehs it's one of those where the story sticks with you so much it's hard to get into something else after.
I mean he isn't BTFO, for him it is torture, but soon, he will be dead anyways, but the difference is Alicia will be dead in real life because of it.
she gets nothing but more drug, for a time, a worthless worthless drug.
Clea doesn't believe any of them have any worth, sentience or anything, she's a detached, hateful god to her creations.
This story literally teaches how to move on from grief LMAO
You don't even know what that means
Of course I do. It means that it was trash.
introducing gabi and falco just so they could repeat the same themes that they were already doing better with Reiner
Spend no time developing long established characters that still sorely needed it like Connie so that they can give more screentime to gabi/falco
The conclusion to the battle with Eren at the very end is decided as soon as he tells them on the plane that he doesn't plan on using his powers to their full extent. Removing any feeling of suspense.
Kill off Ymir just so you can introduce Porco, who's soul purpose for being is to turn Falco into a bird titan
I could go on, but this is a video games board.
the shot of Verso there looking at the Piano is high fucking art, you can feel the dissonance of the thing he always wanted.. and the reality of what he's being made to do in just the shot itself.
Why didn't verso give everyone a chance to say goodbye before destroying his world?
Ah, Linen and Cotton, the first area's song that basically spoils the whole plot. Lyrics:
Linen and cotton blend
Feel the ink flowing in your veins
It will be blood of your life
Give up the night
Don't be afraid of the passing time
There are so many different times
Don't be afraid of the passing time
You will find
Infinite time
Remaining time
Fleeing time
Suspended time
Infinite time
Remaining time
Fleeing time
Suspended time
Linen and cotton blend
Feel the ink flowing in your veins
It will be blood of your life
Give up the night
Every sorrow is born of love
Every love transcends sorrows
Every sorrow is born of love
Time transcends pain
