remember how bad the enemy variety & static mob spam is

urge gone

it's that bad?

Crazy how it had the same issues as DD1 where content was cut, even classes were removed, enemy variety massacred, NG+ cycle absolutely pointless and no true dungeon dive area akin to Bitterblack. Waste of potential.

Why did Capcom abandon it? It sold well.

remember how bad the enemy variety & static mob spam

I think that's what ruined it the most for me
not only didn't they improve anything from the first game
they actually made things worse

.....

yes

Did the people behind the DDO MMO restoration really make it more balanced like single player with friends and less grindy like an MMO?

yes. Go to the general in Anon Babble, checkout the paste bin and make sure to play on Dogma Rising which is the one balanced for sp

it has the content variety of an 1980s ARPG

Tsujimoto wants less competition for his own dragon hunting ARPG

Might as well. I remember liking it well enough when i played it but all the MMO aspects of it were a huge turn off at the time. Sankyu.

Trust. The. Vision.

Everything is cycles, the same game with the same flaws, the same enemies over and over, it's like poetry.

I used the Godsbane (getting fired) to break the cycle!

DLC to at least salvage it SOMEWHAT never ever

what a cursed series

Capcom is forever in my shitlist for this.

The DLC will fix everything.

Genuine question how the fuck do asians tell each other apart?

they have a higher IQ than animals like you

Really? I can tell them apart no problem.
Maybe i'd have trouble between asian women with lots of make up on but eh.

Yes. Do not read this post if you want to feel any excitement about the game.

When the first game came out, it was imperfect-but many loved it. It was the perfect "7/10 game"; the gameplay was very fun, but everyone knew that it was a fundamentally incomplete experience. It was an expermient, a very good one, and the general consensus was

man. if only there was a DD2, that could do everything the first game missed

So DD2 comes out. The first game (especially with the expansion) has a huge cult following, as I'm sure you know. Everyone, myself included, was insanely excited. The game came out. I will ignore the performance issues here, because while important they aren't really even relevant to why the game was such a let down.

Enemies

DD2 has less unique enemies than DD1. It has only slightly more unique enemies than vanilla DD1.

But the cool bosses

The two new cool bosses shown in the trailers are lies. The titty monster isn't really a boss but more like an NPC, and the big statue is a set piece that you fight *once.* There is little in the way of any actual cool innovation with enemies here.

But new setting

The coolest parts of the setting where the bits that revealed where the game is actually set. The new region isn't that good and is mostly corridors.

New combat!

combat is good, nobody disputes that.

The game somehow still feels half-baked, just like the first game. Everyone wanted "what DD1 could have been" and instead what we got was a repeat; a half-baked game where everyone wishes there'd be some sort of sequel to finally nail what the series is capable of. MAYBE if DD2 gets a BIG expansion it'll be fantastic. The endgame is cool. That's about it.

the tl;dr of this post is

People loved DD1, hoped for years that a sequel would allow all the cut content and missed potential to be included

Sequel announced, holy shit

It's basically a "reboot"

everyone excited

game still feels incredibly hollow and unfinished, but in new ways

really? its the opposite for me. have yet
to uninstall and I jump in now and again to kill some gobs and do a few quests. game is a blast.

racist white pig

Cure your autism

Dark Arisen 2 will get announced at TGS this year trust the plan guys

Everyone, myself included, was insanely excited

I was telling you guys it was going to be bad and you called me a shitposter.

Fuck you.

The game is dead jim. Let it go.
Trickster is a dumb name and the mechanics I'm on the fence with. They should just called it illusionist like they did for the Japanese version. They should also copy Guild Wars' Ritualist class/skills and summon spirits that did different stuff, making it an aggressive support.

people say every single new game coming out is bad and they are often retarded and wrong. DD2 had many people excited because a sequel to a nearly very good first game is all everyone wanted.

It's sort of like the opposite of KCD2. People loved KCD1, and wished it had a sequel to fully realise the potential. KCD2 came out, did that and more-everyone was delighted. DD2 just recreated the let down.

It was pretty fun but I wanted more combat, the game ends right as you get all your options. It should have been like 1 where you can just pick whatever class

People calling out the retards that expected 30 vocations by analyzing color theory were justified.
Shitposters that called the game shit before the leaks so we could judge the scale of the content were, well shitposters.

If you were to remove the glasses from the first guy he'd look no different from the 2nd guy.

Calm down saars.

Sounds like a personal issue expecting too much out of Asian people to look different. I'm having a blast telling them apart!

the bad part about dd2 is that it ruins dd1's "what could have been" quality, you can't really pine for a sequel to fully realise it anymore

it's an issue that a lot of remakes/remasters have, it's not just that they're worse than the original but they definitely close the door on what could be and leave the original game feeling lesser because of it. over time, the world feels like it has less potential in it

Yeah it's a hope killer. Even the mods for dd1 slowed down just as things were getting interesting.

tried dd1 on 3 different occasions

first 2 times dropped after an hour or two

third time I tried it I never even knew I played it beforehand

genuine surprise when I found out I had a save file from the last 2 attempts

dropped again

the level of vindication I was on when dd2 flopped was insanely high

KCD2 came out, did that and more-everyone was delighted.

The game was woke shit...

One could even go as far and say it's a return to form.

Fellow MTFramework chad, we share the same opinion but at that time you couldn't convince people that the game was shit just because of the trailers and what we knew. Even if i disliked the direction of the heavier feeling combat i was willing to accept dd2 if it was of the scale i expected it to be. Turns out it was just crap.

Trickster and Warfarer gotta be 2 shittiest and laziest class concepts ever right? Base/Advanced/Hybrid doesn't even seem to matter in this game

I have thousands of hours in DD over multiple platforms, but DD2 being a let-down has actually put me off going back to the original. In time I'll go back but I honestly tried to enjoy DD2, and whilst the first playthrough was still great, the end-game, enemies, lack of armor customization (especially for Pawns) hurt. Maybe I hyped it up too much, however even trying to get as much out of it as I could, I think I still got up to around 200 hours.

It wasn't a bad game, it was just a bad sequel for what should have been the perfect reboot.

See you had to distinguish yourself from these kind of idiots back then. The amount of opinion-posting made that impossible.

I like Trickster. Warfarer is fun but it has too few downsides so it ends up just feeling like a super class instead of a hybrid.

I've never been so burnt out by a franchise.

Dragon's Dogshit II is literally

"Oh that part" right as you boot up the game

the trailers for DD2 completely killed any hype for it.

dogshit graphics, everything is grey

fuck off.

Wasnt there supposed to be an expansion or something?

no clue what you're talking about
either way, this franchize is (dragon's) dogshit

it was a fake leak made by anti-shills

nope

What gave you that idea?

There is probably going to be one I feel like because they renewed Denuvo

This gave me the idea. I was 100% certain itsuno left because capcom denied him the dlc because of poor sales and they used dd2 as prototype for mh.
There was a thread of multiple people being very convincing. I can usally spot shitter.
Guess the hope just never died.

Luv me DD2
Luv me Ulrica

IMG_1870.jpg - 3840x2160, 470.65K

Yeah I admit. Oblivion Remastered and modded Skyrim are 100x better than any Asian RPG. We just wanted "more" and hoped Asia could provide.
They can't.

Dragons dogma is a niche series, you probably wouldn’t get it.

DD2 girls carry 99% of the replay value IMO. If I were to do another playthrough it would be for the romance aspect.

I never played dd2. Is the cracked version a buggy piece of shit and barely playable or alright?

It's a very good game that is held back by the dumbest enemy system I have seen in an AAA release. Walking through the overworld is an absolute chore once the thrill of combat wears off after 4 hours or so. Eventually you just figure out the pathing you need to take to avoid encounters and you breeze through. It needed a system like stalker's a-life to really pop. Also needed like 10 more enemy types you could randomly encounter. Kino game held back by one massive issue

Those didn't age well...

featured prominently in promotional material

appears in like 3 quests total

the village doesn't even get its own quest during the Mooring

combat is good, nobody disputes that.

I do, it's slow and weighty like Monster Hunter instead of fast and responsive like DD1. Probably because they used DD2 and as a testing ground for their main cashcow IP.
Also the enemy AI is garbage and barely attacks. That could potential be fixed with mods, but the one guy making any progress abandoned the project.

static mob spam is

This and the world layout are the game's biggest weakness

all roads are snaking paths along mountains or the sea

despite having a similar layout to the first game it was executed worse in every regard

all portcrystals you find are reserved for settlements because you will need to backtrack constantly

in the first game you could use them on your preferred hunting locations or at crossroads between significant areas instead making the decision much more interesting

DD2 throws groups of trash mobs every 5 meters

if you try running past them their spawn trigger is saved and they get dumped into the next town or settlement you visit

the devs paid no attention to these enemies materializing out of thin air right in front of the player

Just running around the world and doing whatever was fun in DD1 but is pure tedium in DD2

Doesn't the village get wiped out during Unmoored?

I have thousands of hours in DD over multiple platforms, but DD2 being a let-down has actually put me off going back to the original.

Same. Playing DD1 just reminds me of DD2. DMC5 being a decent game gave me false hope.

youtube.com/watch?v=OhHxPojxAQI

I'm more excited by the potential of things like this than any DD2 DLC. That said it will probably end up nowhere.

You can't be serious.
They're all completely forgettable despite the hamfisted nature in which they're forced upon you.

If you care about any of that stuff you're depressed, lol.

they are also all worse than the original girls
Ulrika is so generic that it circles back to being original

4 basic vocations yet only 2 advanced vocations vs 3 in DD

only 2 hybrid vocations despite 3 in DD1

I know the vocation arguments before release were hilarious but why did they do it? The whole thing made no sense unless it was to rush the game for the sales quarter.

Nah fuck that.
Ulrika is absolute trash. Her voice is pathetic too.

your other options are cat whore, the other cat whore, and elf

grim

DD2 wanted all the vocations to be perceived as equal instead of “Fighter, Mage, and Strider are just basic classes”

but fighter and strider

Yes I know you fucking faggot but the perception

For me, it was the yet again half baked plot and npc interaction. At first, it seems like they actually wrote a decent story, with political intrigue and all, just to abandon it not even halfway through. At least in the first game they did enough for me to be able to fill the gaps and understand what they qwere going for. Here it's just a mess. It gets so dumb once you get to the desert, it pushed me to rush for the ending.
Then there's the whole affinity system, which is somehow even worse than the rpevious iteration and with even worse waifus.
Even with the repetitive monster spawns, I had a lot of fun simply exploring the world and leveling up the vocations.

that gif

lol.
my last tinder date kicked me out because i fell asleep while we were fucking.

DID YOU JUST FALL ASLEEP WHILE FUCKING ME?!?!?!?!?!?

yeah my bad, but you just woke me up so its fine

GET OUT GET THE FUCK OUT

LMAO

They should have just went with 4 advanced and 4 hybrid to level it out. Get rid of Trickster

it took Anon Babble this long to realise Itsuno was a hack

so like Quina. The game is DD.5 not a sequel that improves anything

Why does it matter if they are called “hybrid” or “advanced” they’re just names. In DD1 Fighter and Strider are both stronger than their advanced counterparts

I always knew that Kinoshita was the real kino shitter behind DD, fuck Itsuno.

Nope. That's what I thought but for some reason they chose to add all the shitty MMO features like killing 30 skeletons to level up a skill.

I enjoyed it.

Daily discord faveloid DD2 gayops thread #658

Do you brownoids ever get tired of this shit?

I just started playing again. It's a good game, even better with mods but yeah enemy density and variety sucks.
Mods:
Dullahan vocation enhancer
Wild loot updated
Doom style enemy aggression
Unique weapons
Unofficial patch
Custom difficulty (with exp and dcp rates set to .35)
Lenient stagger (even with this it's easy to combo'd to death)

Probably some others. It's so nice finding cool gear from exploring instead of just buying it from a shop.

and then everyone clapped

Thanks I'm a Necromancer now.

It's really fucked up how wasted of an opportunity this game is to capitalize on not only a fully realized DDDA for the fans but while elden ring was fresh in peoples memories and showed that there was an audience for an open world, japanese-lens go your own way western fantasy world game but it's just another ball teaser to get whito piggu into monster hunter, again.

Yep, DD2 is the EXACT kind of of open world game that would be objectively better off using a dynamic world spawn system with random enemy lists and "sandboxy" AI that's free to roam/interact/have basic "goals" (eat/hunt, seek water/shelter etc), inspired by TES, stalker etc. The static spawns in DD2, meaning you get the exact same enemy in the exact same spot in the road every time, absolutely kills the sense of exploration.

They did actually develop a random enemy selection feature for their spawn system, but for whatever reason they barely actually use it in the game, only a very small number of spawn points use the random factor. Lazyness, time restraints, who knows why they didn't make better use of it.

The randomiser mod (which IIRC is just using the feature that capcom developed but barely used) improves things, but ultimately doesn't fix the core lack of enemy variety and the enemies always being in the same spot on the road, even if the enemy themselves change. The AI "leash" to their spawn points needs to be reduced/removed so the enemies are free to roam more once spawned in, im not sure if modders have that kind of access.

Where did the budget for this go?

Where did the budget for this go?

milds.jpg - 1280x720, 90.57K

capcom don't really do SP games anymore as it's more difficult to make them a success than MP games. DD2 was only made as a goodwill gesture to Itsuno.

Sure 3.3 million means it "sold well" compared to other small-time RPGs or flops from dead legacy franchises (veilguard etc), but that's pretending that actual well selling big RPGs like ER with its 30 million, BG3 etc don't exist. And of course it was dwarfed by MH: Wilds. And this is why Capcom is basically done with SP games. If you want the next ER scale success, you gotta have a game with loads of content and that's effort. Why do that when you can pump out a MP game like Wilds with minimal content and get 10 million sales straight away?

With that said, I'm not 100% sure its fully abandoned. I think there's still a minor chance of a DD:DA style expansion - a new area - but sadly I doubt it would fix the main problems with the base game being talked about ITT - the poor enemy variety and the lazy static spawns.

I hope dark arisen 2 fixes everything so i can bond with oldfags again

yeah sorry buddy, i miss talking dogma fans too but dd2 didn't look like it was going to deliver on what i wanted. im in the middle of another DD:DA playthrough though. game's so fucking good bros i love it
