In an ideal world how is /our kyodai/ Cacucu and his bro supposed to work? I don't understand how his kit would be of any benefit at all outside of being a burst bot for the succ. His skill requires significant on-field time and while it does heal it feels very janky even with the auto-aim. He'd basically need to be built with an EM Clam set to use him as a heal bot or with an EM VV set if you want to make use of any sort of damage.

Not even close. Inazuma had at least a total of 5 exapnsions, higher overworld difficulty and plenty of hidden content you had to discover and do on your own at time pushing you to resort to guides. Natlan is just one root world quest handholding you through the map and has no secret spaces all through only 4 map expansions(counting mare jivari) with high chances of no summer map this year.

At this point, I'm pretty surprised how good all the units in Natlan have been.
In Fontaine, we had duds in the form of:

Lynette

Freminet (especially this one, the other 2 4* have good qualities you can utilize, people just ignore them cause better 5* exist)

Sethos

Wriothesley (and really only because he got paired up with the single most overpowered unit in the entire damn game, totally overshadowing him)

Sigewinne

In Natlan, the only duds so far have been:

Kachina (who is at least mobility for FREE for all players)

Ifa

Mizuki (but she's not as bad as Siggy, so it's fine)

One issue I've always had with Genshin and similar Gacha games which make you go all-in to get specific units, they never let you just play with the unit after you get them. You don't gain any attachment to the character through using them. You just either prefarm for them, level them up, slot them into your team, and basically forget about them as an individual character or you get them, then farm for their resources with another character cause they can't function in your high-level world until you level them up, and then slot them into your team.. and forget about them anyway.

From what I can tell, he’s pretty much a poor man’s Mizuki (or maybe a rich man’s, I don’t know how a C6 Ifa matches up to C0 Mizuki desu). You get your strongest PHEC off-fielders, and then Swirl their damage with Ifa while he throws in some heals.

For me it was Sumeru patch 3 where the game kept on having exploration locked behind overly verbose quests where dialogue that should just be “hey go here to get this” turned into 10 minutes of clicking the skip button (auto didn’t help because they’d keep on adding worthless dialogue options that didn’t change anything) and the combat hadn’t meaningfully improved since I started in Dragonspine release.

I did desert 3 for that one event and skipped desert 2 for the longest time. It was good that I skipped it and did it when I wasn't burnt out, that was the best part of Sumeru.

Natlan was lackluster and felt noticeably more anime than any of the other stories, while the “mechanics” of Natlan were obtuse. The characters were forgettable and overdesigned, with strange gimmicks for each of them that felt more relevant to ZZZ than Genshin.

The ghost nigga mechanic in the water could’ve been complicated but became intuitive in practice because the new world tricks your brain into accommodating new play styles, plus the required ghost nigger is always right next to you.

Natlan has you putting on the Dino fursuit and going through that suit’s unique mechanics (most of which aren’t immediately apparent) across what can sometimes be long sequences ending in you getting a chest. And most of the story requires that!

Escoffier has hydro / res shred 55% and if you have her c1, though not needed, she also gives 60% crit dmg.

Coffee is a 55% (Or something close to that) Cryo and Hydro shred in an instant in addition to being a healer and constantly spewing out damage. Kazuha and Xilonen take far longer time to set up the shred and only Xilonen matches it but requires you to kick.

55% cryo/hydro shred without any swirl bullshit

Big damage support that has a staggering 55% Res shred and a good heal which scales off Atk so you don't have to split her stats.
The catch* is that she only functions in Hydro/Cryo teams.

Having to consult a third party map to 100% exploration, tedious hidden exploration objectives, tedious character material farming(like the flowers or whatever off the cactuses for the brown desert lady with a shield), regional daily quest RNG, too many non-shota males, I never got Amy's gf from the OP, the incest plot demands you choose Aether for abyss princess kino narrative so you can't play a girl without hurting the story.

I didn't play anything for awhile and then I saw wuwa launch and thought it was really cool and it was for 1.0-1.4 but new region kinda sucks and they haven't added any cute shotas yet.

Thankfully you don't have to nothing in that empty desert, you can skip and go to the fun part (Natlan)

That's part of the issue. If the time estimate that was floating around remains true (five years) then there's still hope they can wrap it up, but it's probably not going to happen with how much money they've pumped out.
I just remember a lot of side quests mostly being whatever, there's definitely some cool stuff. Especially around Inazuma, the bone remains on the beach side quest... that whole Tanuki event...

Besides that if you create a backlog of content you can easily end up retreading areas you might have explored long ago, and sometimes that leads to scenarios where there might have actually been something in those areas you thought you cleaned, but you end up missing it without realizing. And maybe that ends up being a nice "surprise" when you go back and finally find it, but I don't see it that way. Especially since you can technically 100% areas on the map display but there's still stuff you haven't found/looted at all in those areas still. Again, another issue.

There’s an underwater spot in Fontaine that has 5 or 6 crystalflies next to a waypoint. There is another 3 at the talent book domain. Underwater flies can’t escape you so along with the crystal fly trap even collecting those once a week should cover your needs.

Certain spots around the map have 5+ which you can easily slam out a hundred of them in like 20 minutes. The only requirement is C0 Yaoyao. And you can still do it without her, just takes a little longer.

Imagine unironically complaining about condensed resin when there are now like six different spots that have 5+ crystalflies each and you are guaranteed to catch all of them.

Ridiculous value. At 200% crit damage it's a 30% overall damage gain, at 240% crit damage it's a 25% overall damage gain. That single constellation is basically a 25-30% total damage gain for all Cryo characters in the team which is typically the damage gain you get going from a BiS f2p 4* weapon to a banner weapon. It also enables you to use an attack% circlet since Escoffier teams have relatively little to no attack buffing.
