But everyone told me Assassin's Creed Shadows was a huge success

when will ubisoft die already

Bien

Just don't make shit games that everyone hates.
Is that so hard to do?

Ubisoft's report proudly boasts about how many players it had.

players

is that Ubisoft (france) or Ubisoft (china)?

Ubisoft(India)

yes, it made them so much money, they decided they needed to cut jobs

a return to form

work for satanic dei company

get laid off

karma

Moreover, the earning results state that Assassin’s Creed Shadows prompted strong praise from players and delivered a performance “clearly ahead” of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Their net bookings were €1.85bn, which was slightly below the objective.

slightly below the objective

it's a loss, confirmed
holy shit bros we can't stop winning

TDRtiKr.gif - 360x238, 2.17M

wonder how they cope with odyssey being a 60 dollar release with those comparisons

I bet half of that was the Babel Media budget

OH NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

UBISHIT STILL WON'T SAY HOW MUCH SHADOWS FLOP ACTUALLY SOLD ON EARNINGS REPORT

UBISHIT IS FAILING CLICK MY XITTER LINK TO GIVE ME VIEWS

Can't you both just die? Please?

but good news!
Ass Creed Shadows did exceptionally well!

/our guy/ Matt shows that Assassin's Creed Shadows made the 2nd most profit this year so far.
Right behind Monster Hunter: Wilds.

To be fair that's how Blizzard has operated.

strong praise from players

Shadows can't even outsell these games week 1 sales:

Assassin's Creed III - 3.52 Million

Assassin's Creed II - 3.27 Million

CHUDS!!! ASSASIN SCREEN IS GAME OF THE YEAR!!! THIS IS FAKE NEWS!!! YOU ARE RACIST!!!!

But all the jeet shills told me it was doing strong very strong yes saar very strong indeed? WERE THEY LYING?
THREE MILLION PLAYERS = THREE MILLION SALES = THREE BILLION DOLLARS?
I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE FASTEST SELLING GAME EVER NAMED ASSASSINS CREED SHADOWS!
how could this BE?!@?!?!?!?@?!

LEGEND

ohnono.png - 1142x384, 438.02K

Ass Creed Shadows did exceptionally well!

Based on what? They literally haven't released sales numbers

Hey cool it with the racism there, alright pal.

Based on what? They literally haven't released sales numbers

Based on the amount of money they made you dumbass

This

When asked for comment CEO Guilles Yvlevlefucktard said about how much money Assassins Creed Shadows made: "A lot. Like more than some, but less than all of it." This clearly makes Assassins Creed Shadows the highest profit ubisoft game ever in existence.

It was but to really save the company it would have had to sell GTA-tier copies. AC always sells around 3-5 million but they needed ten times more to really make a dent.

It was, but

so it wasnt

Anon Babblechuds loses yet again

It was. It sold well but not enough to save the company. It's not black and white you dumb faggot. Like Veilguard for example shit the bed hard with like 800k copies sold but even if it had sold 10 million copies it wouldn't have made up for FIFA slightly underperforming.

Same way that Dragon Age: The Veilguard was a "huge success" I imagine.

B-b-but the chuds were wrong...

Were they though? You can't really gauge the amount of people who are actually playing a new game on Steam or Xbox Game Pass to at least the end of the main campaign. Most people will pick it up once, decide they don't like it, and then never play the game ever again.

B-b-but AC Shadows/DA Veilguard made a million dollars in sales

Which is nowhere near enough to break even let alone pay the overworked diversity hires in anything more than peanuts. Nuff said.

if it was a huge success they wouldn't need to fucking add 2-3 modifiers to everything they say regarding how well it did, and they wouldnt hide its fucking profit in the earnings call

They ALSO took a 20 fucking percent hit to net bookings. That's selling 20 percent less of everything for you normies.

Their net bookings were €1.85bn, which was slightly below the objective.

slightly below.

They were expecting to break even.

They get paid like shit. Kepler pays like about as much for French assholes 33, and that's AA.

There will be more cuts by the 30th, screencap this post.

Players

We did so well we beat the game three entries ago!

Of the two games released this year, AC came in second.

Then Clair Obscur dropped, lmao.

as an argie i love french peoples suffering, wish they go full woke

Putting aside retards that need their emotional support flops, real talk though this is probably the best thing for Ubisoft long-term.

It doesn't matter how well Assassin's Creed sells, a tentpole shouldn't be trying to hold up seven different tents. This was a huge problem before covid, the success of AC Origins and AC Odyssey, reverse the post-Black Flag decline, immediately poisoned every other Ubisoft project, resulting in stuff like Far Cry New Dawn, Watch Dogs Legion, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, where Ubisoft figured just because Assassin's Creed was successful that if they shove that formula into all their games, they'll make AC money times 3 or times 4 or whatever. They started course-correcting because these games started collapsing under their own weight, but then covid hit and AC Valhalla did fucking insane numbers and they went back to doing the exact same thing under the assumption that people would buy everything at that same rate and hired a batshit insane amount of people to shit out a bunch of games, something like 20k at their apex? Games were coming out buggy, formulas compromised to work in more microtransactions.

So yeah, people showed up for AC Shadows but that doesn't compensate for licensed stuff like Star Wars or Avatar, for failed live service pushes like XDefiant trying to go up against MWIII and BO6.
The new reorganized subsidiary that focuses on their three biggest IPs, and scaled down operations is probably the healthiest move going forward. There's an appetite for the Ubisoft formula, there's just not an appetite for three of the Ubisoft formula every year. Stuff like slowing down the AC factory so people don't get sick of it like they did in the early 2010s, and delaying Far Cry 7 might hurt them in the short term but will reap dividends later.

Now if they were smart they would get something Splinter Cell out, even just remasters, in time for the Netflix show.

A certain former Nintendo CEO is laughing from beyond the grave. HE WAS FUCKING RIGHT OVER TWO DECADES AGO.

Yamauchi.png - 460x276, 195.08K

110m

that doesn't sound like a lot, but if its one less ass creed or far cry then that's good.

When Tencent gets tired of keeping Yves around as a jester, so probably soonish.

Shadows dealt the mortal wound, HEXE (The femwitch game that comes this year or the next) will be the last bullet in the back of the head.

Players ≠ Buyers. Ubisoft needed somewhere between 7 and 10 milliion sales to break even. They didn't even get to 2.

It's been two fucking months, why does Ubisoft still refuse to mention sales numbers?

Context?

literally impossible when people like Anita Sarkeesan have taken over your whole industry specifically for the sole purpose of making shit games that everyone hates

when i think of feudal japan i think of interracial gay sodomy

If we don't introduce innovative ideas, games themselves will become monotonous and boring. Additionally, "grand and elaborate" types of software are complex in content, requiring time, labor, and expenses to produce. Even if billions of yen are invested and a hit game sells a million copies, it might still be at a loss. In that case, it's not sustainable as a business. Even a "light, simple, and compact" game can be well-crafted and enjoyable.

Ceo is retarded for forcing the game studios under Ubisoft to take certain choices and force monetization that will piss everyone off.

Games flop because of forced changes and monetization

Instead of getting rid of the retard Ceo, you fire all your talented staff that know how to make solid games

I really don't get this fucking mindset with companies. I would be looking at what works to sell and firing the retard Ceo and managers that fucked up.

Only thing they managed to burn down was the one group that catered to them, who were already reviled by us due to their boundless greed. I say good riddance.

He correctly guessed that AAA was going to just keep hyperinflating budgets chasing high production values and that the market would eventually strain to accommodate them, that the number of consumers wouldn't grow as fast to compensate. You have to remember, this was in the wake of Final Fantasy 7 which was one of the most expensive games ever made at the time.

Can't keep all the shekels to ourselves if we don't cut jobs

How the fuck did anyone meme themselves into defending Ubislop games?

Ubisoft needs to trim the fat.
The fact that in 2023 CIG (the company making Star Citizen) had higher revenue per employee than Ubisoft is just sad. Of course CIG lost a shit ton of money that year while Ubisoft made a profit but still.

Ubisoft made 2.5mil revenue off 19k employees = 132k revenue/employee

CIG made 163mil off 1,085 employees = 150k revenue/employee

Wait no i'm dumb, CIG spend 163mil, their revenue was 140~ mil, so their revenue per employee is 130.8k or about 1k less than Ubisoft...... still. not great.

I'm still amazed at how journos and leddit spin AC Shadpes as a huge success. The game didn't even sell 3 million copies, it has 3 million """""players""""". Inquisition needed 3 million sales to break even, Shadows needed 5 million sales. What kind of game is a loss but is hailed as a massive success?

Inquisition needed 3 million sales to break even

that was veilguard, wasn't it? also I recall EA lowered their bar to 1.5 million and even they they couldn't deliver that number

Nope, Inquisition was 3 million to break even. Veilguard is 4 million to break even [FOR VEILGUARD ONLY], remember that Bioware cancelled two half-made DA4 games. The X-Com style game, and the Anthem style game. Each had a few years of development behind it. Veilguard was made from 2021--2024, the DA X-com game was 2015-2017 and the DA Anthem game was 2018-2021.

How hard are the shills backpedalling now?

"It sold almost as much as Valhalla" they say.

oh damn

Yeah, it's SIX YEARS OF DEVELOPMENT BUDGET on cancelled games.

How do you go from this..

....to this

good, fucking deserved for not making a new splinter cell in over a decade

[best news ever]

objective reality, anon
in any fight between reality vs. delusion, reality always wins without even noticing it was under attack

Marketing money.
No maketing money.

B-BUF THE GAME OUTSOLD ODYSSEY ON ITS FIRST DAY

That's it lmao. That's all they have left.

would you really want current year™ ubisoft making a splinter cell game?

exactly a month after shadows

WHO
COULD
HAVE
PREDICTED
IT

That's a reasonable metric though? Nobody would hold it against Nintendo when the next Animal Crossing doesn't sell as fast as the Animal Crossing that came out during the covid pandemic.

My dream is Ubisoft scaling down to the size of an indie studio and making classic Rayman games forever

I thought Veilguard needed 7 million to break even? I haven't thought about the game since it released.

What do you mean sad? This is hilarious

don't

still get laid off

Karma is a cope by those too weak to change anything.

Maybe at full cost. Remember that we don't know the full budget because DA4 1 and 2 were cancelled, so 7 million is a fine estimate.

Most people since financial reports always come out at scheduled intervals. Do you think every video game publisher on Earth has been putting out financial reports the past two weeks for fun?

For our enjoyment? I bet. Funny how these "financial success" woke trash games always have layoffs and studio closures exactly a month after release
Every
Single
Time

It's not black and white you dumb faggot.

It really is. To be successful you must meet the target required to be successful. It did not meet that target. The target they pushed as high as they did through their own brainless expenditures. Through their thoughtless overspending and chasing ephemeral demographics.

It is that fucking simple.

Except I call bullshit on that, Odyssey and Valhalla sold like hotcakes. I bought both of those games on launch, my IRL friends bought those games on launch, even on Anon Babble there was game discussions and fawning over Kassandra and bickering over Sigurd.
I'm supposed to believe a game that can't even make up for it's budget is selling as much as some of the most successful games in the franchise?

remember when they spent "allegedly" over 1 billion on Skull and Bones

I remember the final number being rumored to be 650 million.

maybe they should cut their dogshit launcher and its entire staff
i installed might and magic 10 today because i saw they added steam achievements
i uninstalled it again the second i got the game to open because it installed a retard launcher on my c drive, not a filepath of my choosing even, and asked if it could make changes to my computer no less than 4 or 5 times in a row
just complete and instrusive garbage

i thought they had shut that down but then I remembered it was EA that shut down theirs

imagine being more slimy than EA

How does it feel to win Anon Babble?

i have never played a ubisoft game
or if I have it was something very old when I was a kid and I don't remember it

It's ok, but I would have preferred have a competent AC Japan.

honestly tiring
you dont even need to do anything anymore
these retards just flounder on their own
like i barely felt anything when marathon flopped

that "quadruple A" thing really came back to bite them in the ass

Concord? Marathon isn't out yet I think.

it's going to flop so it's easy to get the 2 confused

The EA launcher is still a thing, at least that's what goypass sideloads when I launch one of their titles

[Good News] More Ubisof layoffs are on the way

actually now that I've looked on steam it looks like they still require it.
There was a period where they didn't have one after origin shut down, guess that didn't last long. I never play EA games lel, I think the only ones I have in my library are the old battlefronts

lmao that can't be a real quote. That's something some teenager would tell their parents when they try weaseling out of admitting they failed an exam

"What was your score on that big Calculus test last week?"

"A lot. Like more than some, but less than all of it."

And this guy gets paid eight-figures, ffs.

We actually got some insider info on that. The first leaker said originally S&B had a $200,000,000 budget without marketing, and then was increased to $400,000,000 and finally $600,000,000. The final amount from another leaker plus marketing and additional expenses is apparently around $650,000,000 to $850,000,000. Probkem is, we don't know how much of it was covered by the Singapore government, since Ubisoft got huge kickbacks and subsidies from them.

ac shadows lost, jeet.

but saar the assassin chidravevana sold four A levels of the sales saar please be buying it as well thank you saar

But, they ratioed Elon and some chink!

impossible, how can the world's only AAAA studio be struggling financially

I have only got mirror's edge on steam but can't recall if it requires their launcher. Had to deal Ubi's pants on head retard launcher to play fucking Uno and I get why people sperged out against those 3rd party launchers.

mirror's edge doesn't require it but that's just bc it's old so it's not worth their time to patch it

Its kinda telling of the state of ubisoft when their 1 guaranteed smash hit game of Ac set in japan gets reviewers going "ehh dont buy it, 50% of the mc's dont fit the game at all"

YOURE BURNING SO MUCH MONEY ON PURPOSE

redditors boast smugly each day about how the chuds got owned by Shadows having a gorillion """players"""

Ubishit goes radio silent after a few days and it becomes clear the game isn't close to being a success

"umm obviously one single game isn't enough to save the entire company, everyone could have seen that coming!"

r/gamingcirclejerk status?

Even worse when this was their "Break glass in case of emergency" project. This wasn't meant to be a middling project that does fine compared to every other entry. This was meant to be THE BIG ONE.

Marathon already got mogged by ARC Raiders

it really was their hail mary, so much that they even delayed the fucking thing so they could try to make it to a more playable state at launch

I get that Steam isn't their main market but fewer than 3k players at 8PM EST even on a week night is atrocious. It's getting pretty close to being lower than Odyssey.

And remember that Odyssey came to Steam years later. Shadows launched on Steam day 1.

Ubisisters... our response?

Assassin’s Creed Shadows prompted strong praise from players

New HOMM this year
Multiple first party Nintendo releases
'83 might edge over shadows
I think GTA will be a relative flop but a relative flop for something that huge will still blow shadows out the water
Easy to put yourself at the top when you're first to the race

Shareholders will
Maybe I should take that incoming drop as my cha ce to get into stocks

Insert pic of subs ps5 owners visit.

Am I though? It's ultimately the state that has the real control over society and all of a sudden everybody is voting liberal around the world because that stupid fuck couldn't just have slightly more tact nor give up on his stupid trade war.
We're fucked for decades. Permanently really since they will now be holding on long enough to fully convert schools into liberal brainwashing centers.

we got strong praise!

it's clearly better than odyssey!

oh by the way we lost money

I hate businessfags so much it's fucking unreal.

Yeah, but I enjoyed the Avatar game. It was Ubislop, but eh.

Shadows is not a bad game

the post launch content has honestly been terrible

post launch content

Isn't the "post launch content" the game itself???

I think they scrapped either the pre-order or post-launch DLCs at one point

Odyssey and Valhalla sold so well because they were quickly and heavily discounted. I say that as someone with over 120 hours in both of them.

Say goodbye to Sam Fisher.

6GNOajb.jpg - 1600x1200, 277.7K

Splinter cell never getting a sequel is a good thing with current day ubisoft.

also Valhalla was a launch title for this gen's consoles, wasn't it?

These fuckers are supposed to be dead right now, this is like some old piece of shit using his grandkids savings account to keep the vegetable machine running for himself.

Clair and Oblivion remastered are less than a month old so i'm not sure how much data he'd have whenever he made that claim. That said the only competition this year is what Civ 7 and For Honor 2

ubicuck

fighting for no reason, against normies and coomer customers

finally going bankrupt

lmao even

Doesn't Ubisoft get free money from both France AND Canada? And 10 years of free money from Singapore.

I don't know about that these days but that was the case, I think Tencent is keeping the lights on now.

B-but it had 3 million players... they haven't updated that number since but... the player numbers should've saved it....

Is Anno safe?

Yes he is, he's working on Gundam and Kamen Rider.
sorry...

Why does Anno 1800 still have fucking Denuvo? The game was cracked years ago...

Mass layoffs when?

Soon.
Ubisoft has 4k more employees than EA but their revenue is like 1/5th of EAs

kwab usaid money ran out

The failure of Assassin's Creed: Shadows is really bad. With just the numbers they've given it's not looking good. Even though the quarter only covers the 10 days after the release, they did give us a number of 160m hours of play as an up-to-date number for the almost 2 months time. Using How long to Beat as a reference we get a range of players the game engaged so far:

Main story no side content: 32.5 hrs/ 4.92m players
Main story + some side content: 40 hrs/ 4m players
Main story + most side content: 50 hrs/ 3.2m players
Main story + side content: 60.5 hrs/ 2.64m players

There are obviously a lot of people that don't finish the game so it's hard to accurately gauge the number of players but since they didn't mention 5 million players since that would be a good number to showcase, I think it's easy to guess they haven't hit that yet. The range of players is somewhere in the middle which is likely. The player drop off was apparent after the week of launch so they didn't want to announce those. Then we have to assume that maybe half of those numbers were from paying customers that paid the full price on the game instead of using the Ubisoft service and the profits look really dire by comparison. This was definitely a failure for Ubisoft no matter how hard they try to obfuscate the numbers.

s prompted strong praise from players and delivered a performance “clearly ahead” of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Are these players in the room with us now? All I saw were bugs and gross cinematics

Good. Keep up the good work, Ubisoft

If only 10 million players was an actual metric of worth...

Played =/= purchased
If you played 30 hours on gamepass or whatever PS+/Ubisoft has to let you play the game for free then you count for that time played but they don't make money off you.

Shame we're in the era where being a suit means being utterly retarded making poor bussiness choices almost trying to go bankrupt and making your potential clients alienated

The only big games Ubisoft has remaining this year are
Anno 117 Pax Romana
HOMM Olden Era & Morbid Metal (2 Early access games which i guess makes ubisoft an indie?)
and then AC: Jade, Tom Clancy The division resugrence and Tom Clancy Rainbow 6 mobile (3 Android mobile games) and the 2 android games are listed as 2025-2026 so they might not even release this year
Maybe there's some other stuff we don't know about yet but fuck that's dire.

it's better than losing, but gaming in general is shit now due to DEI tranny fagshit

so we still lose. Hopefully an open source AI is released down the road so we can make our own shit
