Blue prince

This might be the worst designed game I've ever played

header[1].jpg - 460x215, 49.87K

It's a shame because I really like the idea of the game.

What's wrong, anon? Don't like having to do the same thing over and over for 10+ hours because the game decided to not give you the specific rooms and items you need in order to test a theory?

Theory? You mean when the game gives you a note that says
"Jake, put the furnace next to the freezer to make a thing happen
- Jake"
These puzzles are too hard for me man

I have 200 hours on it and it's a masterpiece but also I hated 100 hours of it and it's dogshit

It's actually peak and if you have gripes with the randomness you are dimwitted.

The real problem is the puzzles are esoteric bullshit, its good up to a new clue. The sigils should've led somewhere

I was more talking about the puzzle that require you to place many specific rooms in the house so you can unlock a thing in another room.
But you first need to be told what to look out for, so that requires you to draw every single room once again (and hoping that the game lets you)! Fun!

sitting around drawing cards until a fun one comes up is gameplay for retards.

This.

just use the item that required you to obtain three other items on the bottom part of this statue bro

what do you mean "how does that even work"? it just does bro

It's going to be embarrassing when they patch in a real ending to the post-game with the Dirigblocks update.

The sigils could be a fun meta puzzle and it is a fun meta puzzle, making you connect information from room descriptions, books, scenery, letters etc.
But they unlock nothing. They give you more coins and some hints for another puzzle. And you solve that puzzle and it gives you more clues for something else. There's no payoff. 90% of puzzles have no payoff in Blue Prince, there isn't even a proper ending in this game.

the only way to beat the randomness is to get an experiment setup that lets you generate thousands of allowance, swap that for stars and then use the stars to reroll rooms endlessly
At that point you've just replaced randomness with tedium

Ackshually, you can just add stars directly as an experiment effect. No need to do allowance first. Still tedious as fuck and depending on how much more time you want to spend on the game you might have to do it several times as you run out.

Hey man can't be THAT bad with all the journalist glazing it got.
Like how expedition 33 can't be THAT badly designed in battle and have THAT bad mid of a writing with all the glazing it got from jouranlists.

i had fun for 25 hours
then the puzzles started to get too esoteric for me and bodging my way through with hints would be completely unsatisfying. i'm good with logic puzzles or deductive/informational puzzles (mostly). but not blue prince's mind-bending flavor, shit had me feeling like a retard
i also never got to draft powered laboratory despite looking for it since like hour 5. yes even with drafting interstitial rooms with vents

please learn to type before posting on my video game insult board.

So there's legit only 7 letters despite mentioning 8 in the beginning?

Yes. Though the fortune teller dude does tell you you'll only ever find 7 anyway. It's just annoying how he says that in a game that's all about secrets so it makes you wonder the entire time if that was the truth until you're dead sure from exhausting everything.

sounds like its poorly designed.

do my own playthrough

get normal room 46 ending and open 2 of the doors under the house

need to study for some retarded history test

give up

find youtube videos of the "true" ending

theres multiple different endings with everyone arguing about what the real ending is in the comments

I get the lore / heist shit, but wtf is the actual ending, what a massive fumble of a decent game

you become a larper king in your hermit house i dont know if there's another ending after this. I think i was missing atleast 1 cutscene

Question to puzzle game fans and I'm genuinely curious.
When you run out of logical connections you can make, you review your information and start reaching desperately, trying everything that sounds even remotely plausible, and you hit the solution on one of those attempts, do you feel accomplished? Do you feel satisfaction that you solved the puzzle?
I'm mostly just frustrated and think to myself "that was bullshit", but maybe those games are just not for me.

It is. And it's another case where "it's shit on purpose." The developer wants you to wonder about things you'll never know about, and choose to give up on the search, and your uncle says as much. Some things just have to remain a mystery. It's a very stupid moral lesson in a game that's all about the past and doesn't give answers to a very important, present-day thing the MC should care about, his mom. There's no theme of moving on or being hopeful for the future. The game's main ending and extra endings are completely hollow.

yup its awful. I'll just stick to my autism friendly nancy drew puzzle games

A New Clue is too overloaded on clues for different things

Gallery is just straight up fucking bullshit, anyone who defends it is a retard

Parlor/Billiards are poorly designed (gradually harder for a reward that gradually loses its value with more perm progress)

Red herrings are gay and not fun (clock tower)

Too many mora jai puzzles

they should be the exception to the experience. You can't expect to get every puzzle.
I can remember the worst times I was stuck only as eventually knowing finding the answer, I can remember the entire process of revealing and solving the best puzzles.

This games fucking gay at both.

Sometimes I find that a puzzle is arcane and unreasonable, but usually, I find that it was my fault. I missed something obvious or I failed to challenge a silly assumption.

Boring answer, but it depends. Getting stumped on Obra Dinn genuinely felt like my own fault and was satisfying once I figured something out, and on the other hand I'll never forget that fucking door in Riven. Blue Prince has too many gameplay obstacles on top of you needing to be "smart" to feel like any roadblock was really warranted.

Which ones are your favorites? I played them as a kid and remember getting scared shitless at Blackmoor Manor, and don't remember much beyond that.

When you run out of logical connections you can make, you review your information and start reaching desperately, trying everything that sounds even remotely plausible

The problem with Blue Prince is that you're only allowed to test things when the stars align for it.
Want to re-read a book in the library? You have to pull it two separate times. I've only seen the room a single time during the 30 hours I played the game.
Figured out that you need to seek for specific things in rooms? You now have to pull every single room and hope you don't miss the thing inside.
Want to check if a room has a special effect in a specific location? That's gonna take you another 15 hours on average.

Everything about the game is designed to waste your time. Literally.
If you ever wonder about why something is like it is, the answer is: to waste your time.
I am convinced the developers hates people who enjoy video games.

Want to re-read a book in the library? You have to pull it two separate times. I've only seen the room a single time during the 30 hours I played the game.

This was super bullshit and really encourages screenshotting everything, including other things as a precedent.

Libraries loan out books for fucking weeks, not a day. Just keep the loaned books on the table for at least a week.

It is fun. Group fun

I've unironically enjoyed watching streams of it just to see how much more bullshit the game had in store.
Still can't believe the final puzzle is doing the same puzzle 40+ times and then forming a cryptic sentence that only works if you apply it a specific way.

I'm on Day 99 and have never gotten stuck. If RNG wasn't giving me something, I could work on something else. You would have to truly suck shit at drafting or having ideas and be making shitty upgrade choices if RNG is fucking you over that bad. And I haven't done any allowance/star cheese yet. There's just so many different threads of shit to discover. FFS I only found out a few runs ago that you can upgrade the Planetarium 5 times

If RNG wasn't giving me something, I could work on something else.

Ironically, you're probably worse at it than you think you are. Generally people are starting to exhaust lingering threads by that point, so they start running out of "something else".

I'm going to let you in on a secret.
Randomness doesn't actually exist.
Circumstance is arranged purposefully and conveniently for the chosen few, but NPCs like yourselves are gatekept from the golden paths set out for the protagonists of the world.

This was my experience too, especially early on. I'd start a new day and be like, "OK, I have five goals for this run..." It was a long time before I had a day where I didn't get anything I wanted.

You said you're on Day 99. For fun, here's my Day 99. Check out that Library I drafted. lol

By this point I've adjusted enough room rarities, gotten enough permanent upgrades, and am familiar enough with the game that I can get whatever the fuck I want. I've not got much "something else" left either, but I haven't been fighting to get the rooms I want in a while.

Ironically, you're probably worse at it than you think you are

Nah, I haven't had a wasted run yet.

Wait, so what is the point of the Boiler Room?

Powering the lab and the pump room

Wait, so what is the point of the Boiler Room?

The Furnace, Pump Room, Laundry, Lab, and Garage all can use power. Also it can send steam power elsewhere.

Also it counts as a cog room for the Mechanarium and the Blessing of the Tinkerer.

You are in the middle of the bell curve.

The game is stupid, it is all just RNG!

Wait I can manipulate the RNG and strategize to get what I want

The strategy elements are made for toddlers. The only thing stopping me from progressing the lategame puzzles is RNG

I think you really have to be extraordinarily stupid to be bad at this game.

Two of these drafting choices will end my run and one doesn't. Which one should I pick?

Two of these room upgrades will give me some common resources. The other upgrade guarantees the library which is needed for a ton of puzzles and helps me get the rare rooms too.

12123131.png - 896x658, 286.65K

Cornball "Indiana Jones in a puzzle platformer" arcade game for redditors. I lost interest quickly.

The RNG keys from billiards can be pretty good.

I gave up after getting room 46, and only got 46 out of spite for being 30 minutes past the refund timer. This game sucks

Two of these drafting choices will end my run and one doesn't. Which one should I pick?

Ending your run early isn't a bad thing. If you've accomplished shit and you're drafting into a rare room you need or a room that will help you out tomorrow.

The other upgrade guarantees the library which is needed for a ton of puzzles

I'mma be honest with you I usually avoid the library because it's a shitty corner that doesn't even have resources and I already wrote down/screenshotted anything of note when I drafted each book the first time.

Also most of the books are completely useless or redundant to shit you learn elsewhere. What ton of puzzles uses that shit? You need to get over the library. It's shit.

It'd be a lot more popular than it is if it was for Redditors

The Parlor and Billiards complaint is the only substantial one.

Gallery is just straight up fucking bullshit, anyone who defends it is a retard

Anon, you have to Think to solve the Gallery. Didn't you notice the Thin K? Did you not Ponder the P on Red? Or Ruminate about the Eight, and the bins of sins by the animal skin?

mom is a reactionary monarchist rebel

"You remind me of this basedjak!"

This is really low-level thought. Are you actually a teenager?

The goal was to force speculation but there’s a breakable wall in the garden with a book that straight up tells you the gardener was the blackmailer and when he collected his first blackmail payment he exposed himself so they locked him in a room and reset the house.

Depends. I got to the gate above the big spinning gears in the basement early before I knew what the passcode was, but I knew that "dates unlock gates" from the letters puzzle and managed to make a correct guess based upon the dates I could actually construct. That felt pretty good: I felt like a big brain. Guessing my way through two of the puzzles in the gallery using the same "what words can I actually construct" method felt like shit, tho.

What was her problem, anyway?

Believe me I spent 5 minutes trying to look for a raw image of the bell curve without the shitty faces.

guess which part of the curve you're on buddy.

I find the library has the treasure map, like, a third of the time I've drawn it. Not sure if that's just rng or not but it feels thematically fitting for it to appear more there like how you can find the spade more often in garden rooms

Just crop them out.
It is a generally-known fact (not widely-known, but there is awareness of it in general) that any post on Anon Babble containing a wojak or frog (Pepe, Apu, or the unnamed variants therein) are automatically shitposting or too unaware of themselves to be anything but a hopeless failure.
They are literal symbols of a lack of creativity, desire to "go with the flow," and all around foolishness. Or just posting it because the poster is aware that people don't like them.
If you want someone to take you seriously, don't post that shit.
It took me all of less than 10 seconds to crop them out.

Untitled.png - 896x658, 124.29K

The only other game I've played that I've felt was as maliciously time wasting as this game was fucking Garten of Banban

I dropped it after ~6 hours, about 20 or so days in. I found it both laborious and tedious. I know you can manipulate drafting later on but it really is boring as fuck.

Fair enough. That was too lazy of me. I think the point still stands though.
Blue Prince sucks and the gameplay is so piss easy that only people that suck at strategy games will find it deep. It's closer to tic tac toe than to chess.

... what?

uh what.jpg - 1380x1719, 484.06K

$60 for a board game?

a lot of non-infant board games are that expensive. shit like candy land and monopoly might be cheaper, but niche/complex games are pricey.

>Two of these drafting choices will end my run and one doesn't. Which one should I pick?

pick the one to continue

next three rooms all end your run anyway

Blue Prince is a bunch of diamonds floating in a pool of liquid shit.
The more diamonds you get, the further you have to swim to get more.

so you

blew up the wall in the trading post

filled the watering can with water from the still

put the watering can in coat check

restarted

got the shrine

donated to get the blessing that guarantees you'll draw the room you reset in

got the secret passage

reset in the secret passage

put the secret passage outside

grabbed the watering can from coat check

used the watering can inside the outdoor secret passage

revealing a blue book you can pull

pulled the blue book

found the atelier

which reveals a beta version of the house drafting system

which is also a maze

which you solved according to obtuse hints

and your reward is

inside a beta copy of room 46

a note saying "well done"

more like blue balls

I got a bit of mileage out of this on the digital version but there's horrible imbalance with some rooms (dungeons). Now you've said it, I can't unsee.
That's nothing. John Company 2 set me back well over a hundred. Niche stuff is inevitably expensive but you will (hopefully) get good mileage out of it

That's fairly average

The gallery puzzle was one of the only puzzles in the game I enjoyed doing due to it being self contained and not basic math/logic

The true box doesn't always have the prize.

you forgot all the shit you need to do to unseal "all" (two) of the blue holly doors.

Zoomer retard ignored.

"The true box doesn't always have the prize." Has got to be the most useless clue in the entire game.
You would have done 50+ parlor puzzles by the time you read. Who would still operate under the assumption that Truth = gems?!

candy land fucking slaps

Anon, the parlor game is already finished by the time you read that clue. It's a callback to the rules of the game, read a long time ago, and is meant to encourage the player to doubt that their journey really is at an end. It's a storytelling device, used effectively here.

i played for like 50 hours and saw 2 watering cans

I feel the game is at its best early on, when it's still mysterious and exciting, the drafting mechanics are still fun and you're constantly discovering new things, while your imagination gives it more credit than it deserves.
The longer you play, the stupider the lore turns out to be, the roguelike part just becomes a chore that you go through without thinking and the puzzles become obtuse bullshit.

That would also explain the journo scores.

Correct. It gets even funnier when you realize that all the amazing twists that the journos claim to have encountered after 50+ hours in are things you've already solved within the first two hours.

Funny, I found that the game was atrocious to start, got more and more annoying over time, and then finally opened up a bit after the pointless sigil hunt garbage with a couple of actual puzzles to solve (still locked behind a tedious blue tents grind, because of course they are, this game was designed by a moron).

Then it falls off a fucking cliff as you realise that all of the extra hints you've been finding and cataloging go absolutely nowhere because the game is half-finished slop.

So is there any point to all the globes around the house that you can spin? And why do some of them have a clock in the base?
Also is there something to do with all the clocks in the den?
And lastly, what about uncle Herb's lavatory selfie, is that related to anything?

Everything has meaning.

there's no real point to any of it as it doesn't really have an ending/conclusion.

At least 75% of the random shit in this game means nothing. The game is half-baked garbage

The main thing to me is always

Can I test ideas quickly and review my information quickly

If yes then I take no issue with it.
If no then I might get frustrated depending on how tedious it was to figure out.

That end up being my only real complaint with Obra Dinn as towards the end I got stuck with a some identities I couldn't figure out where to go to start with, and had to recheck every available scene for them.
Which led me to also miss the clue about it because I rushed the first scan looking for any obvious details, forcing me to do a thorough check of every scene most of which was useless.
Though to some extent that wouldn't have happened if I kept tabs on when every identity became deducible from the onset but that never seemed to me like how the mechanic was inteded to be used.

Obra Dinn

Let me guess... socks and shoes?

I tried it for a few hours before realizing the rogue-lite elements were artificially padding out a game with incredibly basic puzzles. And also remembering I hate rogue-lite games despite continually tricking myself into believing this one will be different

They're for fun and because it looks cool.
They look cool.
He was having fun.

The Curse of Blackbridge was a fun short story.

Yep

lmao filtered by the gate of guidance.
are the redditors in the room with us now?

Powering a 'door' before you draft it makes it more likely for rooms that carry/use power to be drawn.
Also, one of the aquarium upgrades makes it a power source as well, combine that with experiment effects that add aquariums to your draft pool and powering anything is trivial.

i guess i'm low iq cause when i read that i just thought "well duh" and never thought about it again

For me it's that because a lot of the game is specifically made to accommodate the rng I just lost interest in interacting with it that I didn't care if it was 'progress' when I now needed to repeat that act several more times across different days for it to mean anything.
Anons here already mentioned the library.
But it's the same thing with the mails, crates, blue notes, parlor game, spiral constellation, room 46 itself, etc...

Spiral of Stars was fun while it lasted.

The biggest problem of Blue Prince is that the actual story is just dogshit.

At some point later on the more obscure and esoteric puzzles just rewards you with more story and lore which are all uninteresting. I think puzzle games NEED that extra layer of actual intrigue. The first time you get under the mansion? That's more intrigue but that's still early game-ish. After that things just get boring. Puzzles for the sake of puzzles.

What the fuck is this?

tonda was wearing myst and riven tshirts as a kid

that's how you know the game autism is legit and why it filters so many

Play the game and find out.

I never understood what the fuck this was supposed to do since it always seemed to abruptly end midsentence. So it adds a new word every time you get it? I dropped the game a few weeks ago.

After 100 stars you unlock the spiral of stars constellation.
It starts out blank, but every time you encounter it, it adds a word to it.
After like another 100 times you encounter it, all words are revealed.
It servers no purpose, despite multiple clues alluding to spirals.

Now if only he had the mental capacity to make good puzzles that can be solved without a piece of paper telling you the answer hidden behind RNG

yep 100%
i think back to some of my fa orite puzzle gmes and they all have some thematic heart to them
a sovl tying everything together into a neat emotional bow
call it faggy

What you're talking about is commonly referred to as "soul".
Outer Wilds has soul. Obra Dinn has soul. La-Mulana has soul.
Blue Prince? Blue Prince has no soul. The entire game is slathered in pretentiousness.

Spend 300 hours waiting for rng to allow you to solve piss-easy puzzles that are spelled out for you once you find the right notes in the right books/chests

Literally no payoff

Great game

This is the same problem Animal Well had. Fun exploration and great puzzles but all of it amounts to nothing. Just a big glorified rubick's cube. Same with Witness which is why the Looker was such a good parody game.

You already mentioned those games. I'd even add stuff like Noita which borders on wiki-game territory yet it perfectly encapsulates the insanity of peering into the depths of sorcery and alchemy. Or the thematic pull of Chants of Senaar or Myst. Or even the perfect emulation of having an untranslated guidebook that Tunic proposed.

The base impression of Blue Prince with its everchanging Winchester 13th Ghost house is incredible. But then the more it peels back it layers and tells the story of the family, things just become so bland. The Zoltar oracles tricks you into thinking it would be more exciting than it is.

I watched Albino stream this for 70 hours and it got annoying, RNG really fucks you over in annoying ways

Can someone explain to me what the 'appeal' of this game is? It just seems to be...

move forward through nearly-empty rooms collecting meaningless little trinkets until you finally run out of doorways

and then it resets which means there was literally no point to anything you did

I'm not seeing any puzzles that are challenging, I'm not seeing any reason to get invested in whatever the 'story' is (if there even is one), I'm not seeing any signs of a grander mystery or any reason to keep playing other then "maybe you'll see a new room that's exactly like the last ones". Like what exactly is this game supposed to be because it just looks like a colossal waste of time?

The story is just like the game's puzzles and gameplay, promises to be a master work in cerebral out of the box thinking, in reality is written up by midwits that haven't had a good idea in their life and insist upon themselves.

insist upon themselves.

Hey I heard this in FamilyGuy!

Can't wait to play this in like 2 years time when they've fixed it all

I still want to know how he suddenly got the idea to spell out the room names on the security monitors.

I'd argue in Animal Well's favour that it's still a solid game with an actual ending. And each subsequent layer ends with an actual reward as well.
Finishing the first layer gives access to the ending world and has the credits.
Finishing the second layer gives access to the secret area in the ending world and gives you the ability to fly.
And the finishing the third layer gives access to the final reward.

I do agree with that the fact that you need other people to solve the second layer is kind of bullshit.
But it is hilarious that the developer thought people would take many years to completely solve the game when in reality every single secret was solved within two weeks.

Some people's brains are just wired to become addicted to rogue-lites, I guess

Normalfags are borderline retarded, meaning that they will be dripfed puzzles over the course of many hours, all the while they attempt different things during their runs which can take multiple hours.
You, on the other hand, will have solved these within a few hours, are at day 50+ and are now stuck at rng not allowing you to progress.

it came to him in a dream

I didn't even care about the rng since I found the gameplay fun somehow but I had zero euroka moments while playing unlike in outer wilds obra dinn or w.e. Everytime I figured out or found something I muttered "fuck this dev man" and moved on onto the next grind until I dropped it

It’s mostly that whenever anything looks remotely obtuse people will just say fuck it and datamine

It wasn't even two weeks but 3-4 days at the earliest. Hence why they managed to beat dataminers to the end.

After having to solve those fucking darts and boxes for 15th time I couldn't take it anymore.

you didn't even scratch the surface
All this effort and the game is still shit anyway

What program is this?

Awww, the poor brainlet can't figure out the puzzles. Does it help to whine on Anon Babble, little buddy? Does it help your impotent rage at being unable to observe your surroundings and take notes?

I watched some stream for a bit and apparently the "real" puzzles start like 50h in.

NTA but looks like Miro

Miro

no offline mode

Eurgh.

said by anon who is online 24/7

miro is corpo-oriented, haven't seen a single service outage in the 200 hours of usage.

just take my data bro

I watched a "I Played 100% of Blue Prince" video on YouTube and am so glade I dropped the game. The very late game puzzles are so unbelievably fucking retarded. I dropped it after the Room 8 puzzles which is one of the worst logic puzzles I've ever seen in a game. So many of the clues were ambiguous and up to the developers interpretation of "near" and "thin" and "end"

Use the program Obsidian and use the canvas mode. You can use this mode to add CTRL+F searching on the canvas
obsidian.md/plugins?id=simple-canvasearch

what data? your fake email address and video game screenshots?

I dropped it after the Room 8

That one wasn't even that bad. The more ambiguous ones get narrowed down by the more obvious ones. If done in the right order they're all fairly obvious.

second layer is eggs but you're describing rabbits, it has four layers

it's a """puzzle""" game for people whose idea of solving a puzzle is just to input knowledge you picked up in another room in a safe door. there's quite literally nothing in this game that requires above 80 iq, it's all about assembling straightforward notes. or like, the pump room one looks like a genuine puzzle at first, but then you realise, no, it just requires the boiler room to be adjacent to use the spare tank.

pic related is a real puzzle game that challenges your faculties.

These threads have done more than anything to dispel the myth that Anon Babble is populated by intelligent people pretending to be retarded. It really is pretty much just actual bona fide retards.

The stupid pepper puzzle broke me and was where I first looked up a guide.
Mantras shattered my mind. Funny enough, I did figure out the front/back quirk, but I just had no fucking business dicovering the specific mantras to use.

It's peak if you just use cheat engine instead of being a retard.
The list says you need to wait until you collect dice before using it. You don't.

Yes, it's possible but, it's still a shit puzzle. I'm not wasting my time figuring out what the developer means. Especially right after the gallery which was also completely retarded.

Oh, right. I tend to merge layer 2 and 3 together, as the eggs are needed to access the secret area in the ending world.

Imagine if the game was generous with reroll die and gave you about 4-8 per run.

The game would go from dogshit to mid just like that.

nonsense

late game mora jai, the sigils, the exam, all the deduction puzzles (clock tower, herbert's journey, bottom of reservoir plus treasure room etc), all of a new clue, the aries clock, the core, the final maze, all the meta puzzles, all absolute puzzle kino and i'm tired of seeing you jaded fucks wallowing in your predictable doomer hate

the game is so full of cool details and ideas but you niggers are so addicted to being negative that you'd rather miss out on an amazing game and circlejerk about how miserable you are instead

You don’t need to imagine, there is cheat engine, and the game is still dogshit

I downloaded cheat engine and turned on speedhack and holy fuck does it make a difference
The rng bullshit is a lot more bearable when you can just zoom through the levels

I played everything after room 46 with infinite rerolls, and it was still a mediocre game. At best it's average, it starts out as a 4/10, goes up to a 6/10 at the peak, and then drops right down to a 2/10 when you figure out half the puzzle hints go nowhere.

fair enough, I dropped the game before that because it was 30 hours of shallow shit puzzles. "it gets good at the end" is unfortunate.

First Ending: Room 46
This is for brainlets..

go back in

Second Ending: Get the will from the 8 realms safe.

notice that the will tells you an angel order

Third Ending: Get a Coronation
This is the "true end".

the fuck is a blue door? Also actually solve the a new clue puzzle and all those other major leads

Fourth Ending: 3 boxes.

be a schizo enough to actually pursue the numeric core hint on the way to the fourth ending and realize the existence of a secret bonus boss

Fifth Ending: The Atelier Blueprints

You can get three of these out of this order but that would be pretty retarded and an indication of using guides.

Dude wtf are you smoking? The 8th letter is sent by the gardener and it's him thanking Herbert for playing ball with the blackmail and him also trying to say he is on Herbert's side with his political goals.

After the tenth time a puzzle box just added a pittance to the allowance I stopped paying attention to them. Coins were already trivial. This why the game is shit. The rewards are always for something you’ve already figured out. The only exception is the blue prince book after claiming the throne.

it gets good after 30 hours of inane tedium

I straight up do not believe you

None of the puzzles are good. Almost all of the puzzles in the game are just word puzzles trying to figure out orders of words from various documents in the game that form a sentence that tell you what to do. And the ones that aren't like that are completely retarded like the "still water" thing that requires you to interact with water that doesn't even look interactable.

I agree

It does that “no you can’t actually do this… just kidding!” thing again in the outside secret passage

If it's any consolation, there are actual troglodytes on Leddit who saw it, decided they were actually going to put thought into it, and came to the conclusion this was the gsme telling them the message was to learn to let go, that it was a rethread of Outer Wilds. They completely missed the point of Mary and Herbert being so consistently characters centered on being curious and working for the future.
This is not the very final message of Outer Wilds either btw, which speaks to the level of retardation at play in that site. Somehow all the stacked nomai reaching for the stars and the new ayy lmaos in the new universs around a campfire juat eclipsed off these people's minds.

Depends on if the solution was something I completely missed the supporting clues of, didn't observe/make the connection, or just flat out bullshit. A solution that's logical that I had the pieces, but didn't figure out and brute forced makes me feel bad about me, NOT the game.

Example of Completely missed: The grass barcode puzzle in animal well.

Example of :Didn't observe/make the connection. Obra Din: identifying the topmen. Hard but doable, and understandable once you see how it's done.

MOST of the estosteric shit in this game comes from the "complete bullshit" category, with the caveat that they literally hand you the answer with enough RNG. Not satisfying at all.

Nice. I usually go with excalidraw on Obsidian when I need stuff like this. I actually just used Obsidian with no plugins for this game. It served well enough but there was way too much text saved as screenshots that I couldn't search, so I had to keep my memory fresh on most things.

Reroll die is extremely underpowered and you only appreciate by how much when you get to use like 20 per run. The developer really should have given 3 free as a prrma upgrade. If anything just to soft guarantee the outer room.

Does anyone else think about that dumb anamaniacs joke when they see the title of this game.

I don't understand your post because in order to claim the throne you need to solve mora jais that spell a message, and of all the things you'd choose to praise, the blue prince book is completely useless lore that brings nothing new and hits a dead-end, so that's two wrong statements
I swear 90% of you fags just followed a walkthrough

I was heavily negative and shitposting about the game here during my first ~ ten hours
it absolutely gets better

the water stuff is not a puzzle it's just shitty point n click adventure logic and no one is defending it and I'm the first to shit on the game's numerous issues, however the entire puzzle meta cipher sequence leading to it was fair, clever and complex and satisfying, some absolute kino payoff in that sequence

but you wouldn't know because you did not play the game fairly, already mentally checked out by that point and just followed a walkthrough

I found the pepper to actually be fun little puzzle>Obra Din: identifying the topmen.
Half of the game can be solved by comparing sleeping deck scenes and checking which beds are empty and where the characters are at the moment. If you piece together the whole sleeping deck layout, with details about nationalities etc and then it's really fun to figure out. I don't remember having any issues with the topmen.

If anything just to soft guarantee the outer room.

I think Tomb has at least 3 dice if you unlock its secrets.

Even if the puzzles were brilliantly designed the game still wouldn't be good because of the RNG. There is just no way to know if you've missed clues for a puzzle because they may just be in a room/library book you've never seen. In good puzzle games you're locked into a set of rooms until you solve a puzzle to unlock more rooms and know all clues that should be available to you at any given point.

the entire puzzle meta cipher sequence leading to it was fair, clever and complex and satisfying

No it wasn't, it's ruined by the RNG for the reason I stated above.
