Spoilers in Video Games

Should there be no expiration date on video game spoilers Anon Babble?

continues to spoil the game to other people by complaining about the spoiler

If a game is over 30 years old spoilers shouldn’t matter

If it’s within the community, one year. If it’s a more “public” website like Anon Babble, reddit, twitter, youtube, etc, there’s no expiration date.

I knew it was him because of Anon Babble

Spoiling twists is great, because "twists" are fucking lame.
Whenever I know some big event is coming in advance, it makes me more attentive to smaller details in the plot, looking for any foreshadowing or hints, considering the reasoning behind characters' actions.

This is just all media now. People like one reel of some show or game they're watching/playing and then they complain when their entire feed becomes spoilers.

No that guy is a faggot for linking it though. Despite being a faggot he's semi right. YT needs some sort of spoiler warning or censor for new games titles I bought expedition 33 on release and day 1 I got a yt rec because google listened to my mic and heard me mention it giving me act 1 spoilers right after finishing the prologue

Jesus Christ dies

NOOOOOOOOO I WAS (not) GONNA PLAY THE REMAKE BECAUSE IM A HUGE FAN AAAAAAAAA

if this was a brand new game sure whatever but you had 17 years to play persona 4 or watch the anime blind

Be me at 12 years old in 2008

Look up anime porn on Anon Babble

Get spoiled on Adachi being the killer

While jacking it to Yukiko and Naoto porn

Forget about Persona until Smash Bros

Suddenly remember Adachi being the killer in 4

Still haven't played Persona 4 in anyway shape or form as of 2025

Man, late 2000s era Anon Babble was wild.

Real fans play games near release day.

Wrong you gatekeeping chud
Mother 3 is my favorite game of all time and I haven't even played it yet

Adachi is the killer

That's a good one bro.... it got a kek out of me

I've never touched persona and even I knew that Adachi is a villain just through osmosis.
It's the only thing I know about the persona games other than the name of the P5 protag.

There are certain games that are more susceptible to spoilers because of how the community talks about them.

If its a narrative heavy game or ones where people feel part of the enjoyment is the whole tale from beginning to end, I think a spoiler watch is appropriate to keep in mind openly (ie. OP in a thread, thumbnail, video's first minute or so). Otherwise, you should probably not expose yourself to potential story spoilers or expect to see them more openly discussed after a month or two of release.

getting triggered by spoilers

actually basing your enjoyment on wether or not you know the spoilers

Brainlet mentality.
Knowing Adachi is the culprit only made me enjoy the game more and also see the plot holes better.

Shakespeare spoiled Romeo and Juliet in the opening monologue. The Greeks would also often know the entire story before going to see a play. Modern spoiler culture is an illusion constructed by corporations looking to keep you ENGAGED!!! and HYPE!!! for their product

This is cope because you will never know how fun it would have been trying to figure out the murderer

everyone knows nanako is the real killer anyways

Holy cope

If all the merits of your story is going into the trash by spoilers then it's a dogshit story.
You know jackshit about creative writing.

We've had daily persona 4 spoiler threads for the past 15 years. i've never seen anything so aggressively spoiled as this game. I'm sure it would have been a ton of fun to go into it blind. Even the harry potter spoiler eventually died out, only resurfacing every now and then as a meme. but we literally still have daily bump limit adachi threads. you're in one

t. brainlet

watch anime

get spoiled on unrelated anime

iirc saiki k. anime spoils jojo3 or something
or so a friend says, i read the manga instead of watching the anime

Wanna shake my hand?

I dont believe this simply for the fact that 90% of persona 4 porn is corruption/MC with adachi(which is based)

anyone thats a fan of the series has stumbled onto this and rightfully busted an angry nut

I finished the game, so now I need a youtuber to tell me what I should think about it

I knew he was the killer because p4au was my first persona game

THE GAS STATION EMPLOYEE IS THE REAL VILLAIN OF THE GAME BTW

random ass youtube video on front page

TWIST VILLAINS DONE RIGHT

it shows the villains on the thumbnail

Well good job they're not a twist anymore now

How does that title spoil Adachi?

this

I would not have been spoiled if people weren't so excited to team him with BlazBlue's villain before Cross Tag Battle released.

Should there be no expiration date on video game spoilers Anon Babble?

After a week or two spoilers should just be free game.

"analysis" of some juvenile animu trash for japanese teens

what's next, analyzing Dora the Explorer?

its so fucking obvious i thought nanako being the killer would have been a better twist considering she actually ends up in the tv world

that doesn't look like a spoiler as-is, you would have to watch the video for that to become a spoiler

however saying that it's a spoiler has made it into a spoiler, the person saying it's a spoiler is the one that is, with malice, spoiling people

I saw Bitches and Whores spammed everywhere for months before playing P4 and that was when the game was only 2 years old. It didn't ruin my experience of the game, it's really not about solving the whodunnit anyway. adachi, namatame and the fucking gas station attendant being the only characters with a portrait that have no social links probably would have given it away regardless.

Persona needs to die so SMT will go back to normal.

I can't believe Hanako was the killer all along

What about the ugly teacher with crooked teeth and tv announcers? There are plenty of people without social links, what kind of retarded argument is that?

Especially those games that were released before they were born.

play p4 arena

why does the stupid detective have a persona and is crazy?

They do have a right to bitch about how youtube will recommend this shit or songs that spoil the final boss all the time.

adachi, namatame and the fucking gas station attendant being the only characters with a portrait that have no social links

Adachi has a social link in Golden, meanwhile there are plenty of characters with portraits that don't have links, though most of them wouldn't really make sense to have one like Kubo. Kashiwagi and Hanako are 2 characters with major presence that font have a link though.

Not only is it retarded, it's factually incorrect. Gas station guy doesn't have a portrait until the reveal and Adachi has a social link.

gas station attendant was such a retarded plotpoint it completely killed the game for me

adachi has a social link

golden babies should be shot on sight

Spoilers are good because people will cry and pee there pants about them so hard it's funny

real answer is 5 years; and even then I don't think a video title and thumbnail are narrative destroying enough to ruin the game all of a sudden

How the fuck do some people not know this shit by now? it's like not knowing that Darth Vader is Luke's father or that Bruce Willis is a ghost at this point.

"Muh spoilers" is always an excuse by secondaries to abstain from actually consuming shit. "Oh no, I got a plot beat told to me and now I can never watch this 10/10!" It's even funnier to me because I've found some of my favorite media ever from finding the spoiler moments while wiki diving like Zeta Gundam and WC3.

The realization of the Persona 4 "killer" is lame as hell.
It basically comes from a multiple choice quiz where you pick from everyone in the game and HE is the singular outlier because HE is the only one without some sort of social link or bond with protagonist.

but Persona 4 Golden he is a social link!

Doesn't matter. The only time spoilers matter is during the first week or so of the first release of the game. After that idiots on the internet will spoil everything.
The game would have been better off if the real murderer was the floating eyeball thing you actually fight and the deaths of actress slut and Yosuke's ho were a complete freak accident.

It's incredibly obvious he's the murderer in the vanilla P4 because he's one of the only side characters with a character portrait relevant in the main story that also doesn't have a social link. The true ending culprit did surprise me though

It doesn't count because... IT JUST DOESN'T OKAY?!

if knowing the plot spoils the story, the story was shit all along

Can fuck with zoomers by spoiling old games that are getting remakes from lazy and uncreative publishers

heh

Its not a youtube problem its a clickbaiting faggot problem

I never got spoiled if I didn't want to, seems more like a user problem

I am sorry you are younger than P4

PANCAKES?

Then that is also a youtube problem isn't it? They clickbait because of youtube's algorithm.

No argument

I accept your concession.

darth vader is lukes father

you do realize golden only technically launched in 2020, nobody had a fucking vita. Way to out yourself as a zoomer

Probably after like 8-10 years you could assume most people interested would have played it already. I still spoiler things depending on where I am though.
"Adachi is the killer" feels like "Aeris dies" tier though. I knew Adachi was the killer before I knew what game he was from. If you're familiar with mystery stories it probably wouldn't be that difficult to figure out either, since he's just there doing nothing important. He didn't even have a social link in the original to trick you into thinking he was just another side character.

nobody had a fucking vita

i had a vita

I still have my OLED vita. Bought it for portable PS1 games and Muramasa Rebirth plus the other Vanillaware titles.

How does he know P4 is a murder mystery in the first place?
This guy just wants to victimize himself.

Eh, you must avoid Anon Babble then all the time or don't care about spoilers, because I got spoiled many times here.

Who says that it has to be somebody with a portrait and without a social link? Such stupid post hoc rationalization

I totally knew it

Sure, you did

I say 1 month for general plot and themes discussion, 3 to 6 months for twists/ending discussion. I don't think you should be going around screaming BOY IT WAS SAD WHEN CHARACTER DIED on random platforms necessarily, but it's more than fair to make videos specifically on the topics and discuss it in forums/threads/settings focused on the game. So people getting upset about Persona 4 spoilers, a game that released basically 17 years ago, is a bit silly.

I do agree though that Youtube is fucking miserable for spoilers. I've been playing Clair Obscur Expedition 33 recently, kinda dug one of the initial boss fight tracks, so I looked it up and saved it to listen to later. Immediately after returning to the home page, I'm hit with a video titled, "STREAMERS REACT TO [CHARACTER] DEATH" with a character's bloody face slapped on the thumbnail. You can argue that I shouldn't have been watching anything related to the game if I wanted to avoid spoilers, but holy shit man.

Some creators are just assholes and put the most eye-catching thing possible (often blatant spoilers) to get views.

erm... I had a vita...

Admittedly, it's not a hidden thing that P4 is about a murder mystery. It's more or less stated in the store description for the game. And even if you don't put two and two together for that video implying what Adachi is, it does basically tell you, "THIS CHARACTER ISN'T WHO HE SAYS HE IS, LOOK AT HIS EVIL MANIPULATIVE FACE."

It'd be hard not to connect the dots.
