Doom wasn't relevant for 10 years. It was ranked 19th a mere 3 years after it was released and 25th 6 years after. UT and HL came out after that and completely changed the FPS landscape. It's a great and groundbreaking game, but once the ground was broken other stuff was built.

If we assume something is of a certain generation as part of their childhood and growing, like millennials (gen y) are "90s kids", then that game would mostly be between the post/late 00s gen z or "zoomers" and early alpha kids (averaging around 6 years old). So its one of those blurred generation things. Kinda like how some young genxers and older millennials both like transformers or atari or something

I am a born 1990 millennial and no way am I a "90s kid" before I am a "00s kid". I have only 3 cherished childhood treasures from the 90s, which are Sailor Moon, Pokemon, and in a distant 3rd place the original Dragon Ball.
