The only games releasing in FY 2026 are anno 117, 2 Early access games (HOMM and Morbid Metal or something) and then an AC mobile game and 2 Tom Clancy mobile games. I wouldn't be surprised if revenue drops like 50% this year. Last had Xdefiant which started out decently desu with more than 10mil players but the game died by December and they had to give out refunds for the season passes.

That's really what's been killing AAA gaming: development time. Concord was envisioned a few months after Overwatch came out. And then it took 8 years to make and any chance it had of capitalizing on Overwatch's success had long evaporated.
For another example, see Final Fantasy. The time between FFVI and FFX was seven years. The time between FFXV and FFXVI was also seven years. That's too long for anyone to give a fuck about your franchise, too long to course correct if the market changes, and too long to pay all those people to work on one thing for that long with no return on investment.

They are selling worse but its really just how bad the development costs have gotten.
