It's funny how all of the bad things going on at Playstation were established over a decade ago nearly all of which was borne out of their own hubris when PS4 won by default and allowed them to get away with literally anything, but it only took 2-3 years of covid lockdowns for it all to actually cause an implosion at the company. Now it's too late, the only thing keeping Playstation from being treated like the Xbox is their lingering brand power and the fact that Sony owns most of the media companies that cover video games so they can easily generate positive buzz at any time.
It'll take a long time for Sony to try and reverse much of the pigheaded decisions that occurred at Playstation while the gaijins were granted power, but the problem is they don't have anything else to fall back on outside of PS+ subscriptions in the meantime.

Demon's Souls wasn't exactly a huge hit. It sold 1 million copies while Uncharted 2, Call of Duty MW II, Arkham Asylum, Borderlands, Resident Evil 5, FFXII, God of War 3 and others were selling 5 million or more.
There wasn't much reason for Playstation to be that interested in Demon's Souls. The only reason why Bloodborne happened was cause Sony realized maybe they made a mistake and tried to give it another shot, but even Bloodborne didn't sell all that well compared to other games of 2015 like Fallout 5, Witcher 3, Splatoon, Star Wars Battlefront, Arkham Knight, Life is Strange, Metal Gears Solid V.
Fromsoft games didn't become big sellers until Dark Souls 3 in 2016 and they wouldn't have become big without the PC market. Even if Playstation had treated Demon's Souls right, keeping Miyazaki's games exclusive to Playstation would probably hurt their appeal long term and the success games like Sekiro and Elden Ring found may not have happened.
