There's still a lot of interesting lore in the game that's worth exploring but it's also something that doesn't have the same urgency. Like learning about the twelve and different worlds is great and all, but it wasn't like watching the MSQ plot unfold before my eyes since the release of ARR. And truth be told, after a decade of playing the same MMO, I'm just ready for something new for a while.

The system encourages the scions to be an adventuring party like many other FF games which isn't how the story functioned prior to ShB but did in ShB and EW but then went back to the story not functioning that way but still kept the system that way with the Scions. It's a decent own when people want it to be, but the fact of the matter is the number of people who actually engage in those systems isn't and hasn't been enough to make any meaningful difference in the long term health or success of a game. Wildstar had an amazing housing system over a decade ago and it's being talked about as a "was/were" because the rest of the game was unappealing. Housing's a non starter, XIV could change a bunch of stuff about acquisition and placement limits and how the editor works but people would still leave if they were bored of the rest of the game because housing is a side system in most online games that have customizable ones. No one is playing 200+ hours of an MMO just to do something that, lets be real, is at best going to be a hangout spot for you and your discord friend group and at worst a piece of content you may never even touch within your lifetime.

XIV is worst in genre net code and system code since...well release. It effects how you play, what you can play as, PvP the hardest since it's unresponsive, PvE, everything. The security of the game may as well be a free space at this point, you don't even need bots to level up secondary jobs because literal addons can do it now.

All the F2P content is Cape Westwind tier save for a few introduced in .4 and .5 patches due to player power going up, job reworks, new jobs, and the super high ilvl syncs. The limitations on data center transfer put in place means what server you roll on matters heavily now, road to 70-90 sounds absolutely fantastic until you realize you're trapped on the center that is collectively equivalent to a low pop WoW server, so you either suffer without it by rolling a new character on Aether or suffer with it because you can't transfer to Aether after 2pm EST everyday due to imaginary congestion and the few thousand fags sitting in Limsa playing Second Life: XIV edition.

Nobody new joined up when SB became F2P, HW F2P and the various fixes to ARR alongside ShB and the impending EW release was why the game exploded in new and old returning players. The optimal moment to do this will be when 7.3 drops with new gear which is the final BIS, set that up and go ham on the moon missions. What we don't know is that when the next planet comes out, if points gains from the moon will be nerfed. Or if it'll gradually increase as we go to new planets.

I know people say that the timing wouldn't have made it matter because they plan so far in advance but I think more players not vocally complaining about the writing of Zero storyline is why they thought the shit with Wuk Lamat would be fine. DT feels like it had late rewrites anyway and I"m sure if it the reception to the Void story were more universally negative from the beginning maybe they could have changed something.

It's honestly not as expensive as you think, for example the English voice actors alone are half the price than their American counter parts, French and German are even cheaper yes the Japanese voice actors would be the most expensive but FFXIV literally just blew through $5million on a streamer campaign for the JP streamer group K4sen and Hololive to play FF14.
They could have spent that money easily on voice acting alone, it would have been a more efficient use of money which would have had a long term positive effect for the game.
ESO also voices all it's characters and lines in multiple languages, I think they have 7 languages fully voiced for that game so again it's really not as expensive as you think if you don't hire union American actors.

The title for the "season"/planet is the one for getting all gold missions on the moon. Instead of having it per class (Gather 50k or craft 100 artisanals), it's more comparable to like the Beatus/Saint seasonal achievement.
Castle in the Sky was available in 5.21, along with all the 500,000 points ones, which was Season 2 when they started rankings. (season 1 was just a soft open to Ishgard restoration).

So it's safe to say there's no "reset" or "individual" points. What remains to be seen is if prior planets get point nerfs.

It's a very big deal to the casual audience to have as much possible the game voice acted, one of the main reasons BG3 popped off as big as it did was that CRPG was completely voice acted. Expedition 33 is completely voice acted, many many story games are completely voice acted and FF14 is presenting itself as the "story MMO" so those audience have expectations that aren't being met.
Unvoiced dialogue in today's current market looks very antiquated.

Cut post ShB jobs entirely from the roster, focus on fixing old jobs and making them unique again, permanently remove any semblance of the buff window meta so fights can be made more flexibly again.

They also need to fix the writing and I'm honestly not sure if that's even possible, there's really no way to undo the damage that Dawntrail did to the lore and key pieces of the setting and you can't really pretend it never happened, or suddenly and jarringly go back to Eorzea and move on to the next Disney park and hope to do better. The big issue is that Dawntrail has forever tainted what "adventure" means in the setting and what the WoL's role in the story is.

Best they can do is go on some fuckoff expedition to faraway lands with very few NPCs and focus no a more character driven story about the WoL and other adventurers setting up in new lands (sort of what they did with Revenant's Toll) and focus a lot on exploration and developing the setting. That way we can also tone down the absurd stakes of "the world is about to end! (again!) Oh no! (again!)

It's not worth paying your sub money for an in game house, I would salavage all your furniture to your retainers and then demolish it to save yourself the money then come back at a later date if the game improves.
It's easy enough to buy a house in game if you want one again, but really it's not even remotely worth retaining a sub if all you're doing is logging in to reset the demolish timer.
